QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Oct 11, 2013 -> 02:31 PM) Bears have had pretty good luck the past few years avoiding injuries. Packers are pretty much going through this every year, including this year. It's aggravating. Except for that whole Jay Cutler broken thumb thing that completely derailed a potential playoff team. Rodgers has managed to stay very healthy despite their O-line issues.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 11, 2013 -> 01:54 PM) And most of it goes to retain the players they draft and develop, which is very different than what the Dodgers are involved in. And $30 million of it goes to pay 2/3 of their outfield, neither of whom were developed by the Cardinals. Like I said earlier, they do a great job of bringing up their own talent, but they are still a pretty big spending team and have been for a while.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 11, 2013 -> 01:21 PM) The Cardinals and the Dodgers aren't even in the same stratosphere when it comes to spending. They aren't, but the Cardinals still spend an assload of money on payroll too.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 11, 2013 -> 12:47 PM) wtf. Injuries are destroying this defense At least they have a seemingly able replacement for Williams, unlike on the D-line.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 11, 2013 -> 11:13 AM) The last thing I want to see is going out and spending assloads of money rewarded. Go Cardinals. It's not like the Cardinals ever gave a free agent $120 million.
-
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Oct 11, 2013 -> 09:48 AM) Bears DE this year have a combined 2.5 sacks. The Giants DE have a combined 3 sacks.

Since when are the Cardinals some low-budget darling team? I realize that the Dodgers spend way more than anyone else, but the Cardinals payroll was $115 million. They do a great job developing players, but they aren't exactly the Rays. They had 5 players making more than $10 million.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 11:40 PM) The Bears were more or less playing 4 DEs for most of the game. The lack of depth at DT is embarrassing. Sign someone for crying out loud. Just wait until they play a real offensive line. That will be the team's downfall because it weakens the rest of the defense so much more. But a win is a win.

Official 2013-2014 NCAA Football Thread

Maybe Lane Kiffin was the problem after all. .. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 04:05 PM) Scherzer, Hunter, and VMart all hit FA that year, the Tigers have $90 million already committed to 2015 just for 4 guys, and Doug pFister and Austin Jackson will be in their 3rd Arb years in 2015 and will probably cost $10 million+ each that year as well. The only way they can stay out of long-term financial trouble is if their owner is willing to continue losing money. The owner is willing to keep losing money, but he may die any day now.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 08:44 AM) If the Tigers win tonight....wow. Sweet! I've never been to a 49er game before!
-
QUOTE (scs787 @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 02:46 PM) Like I mentioned in another thread, the rumor I read was Price to the Dodgers for Joc Pederson (#43 prospect in the bigs), Corey Seagar(#47), Julio Urias(#88), and Chris Withrow who is a major league reliever. Cubs would have the bullets to top that but is it worth it? Kershaw, Price, Greinke, Ryu?
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 01:04 PM) David Price told reporters Wednesday night that he expects to be traded by the Rays this offseason. Just not to the Cubs please.

Ozzie will further endear himself with these comments

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 12:55 PM) This is why I miss Ozzie so damn much (plus the ring on his finger and the memories I have of the only baseball title I'll see in my lifetime). Some of you (not naming names) take sports so damn seriously. I thought Ozzie was funny as f*** and I miss his quotes. We haven't seen ANYTHING close to the above mentioned quote from plastic Robin. When the Sox do part ways with Robin, I think I found the perfect list to start the managerial search from. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=90133 -
QUOTE (farmteam @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 08:31 AM) Oh wow, that was over a decade ago now, wasn't it? 2002 I think. Henry Burris started the final game, hahahahaha. Yup, 2002, I was down there. $20 student tickets and a half-mile walk to the stadium from my house. That was awesome. (too bad Leon Johnson's face sent the season into a downward spiral) Like an idiot, I drove back down to Champaign with some friends for that final game with Burris. Just a dreadful football game.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 07:44 AM) I feel like Blackmon's got a chance to score some points this week. They're playing Denver and will be down 50 at the break and random luck says he should find his way into the endzone once? And Chad Henne is playing QB, so he actually has a somewhat competent player throwing him the ball. -
QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 01:37 AM) I despise Cardinals fans. They all act like they've never won anything before. I have seen this quote twice on my facebook regarding the series win "words cannot describe how I feel right now" Jesus, act like you've been there before. If the White Sox won a single playoff series this year, I'd have been pretty happy...but words would have described it. Agreed. I'm gonna have to hide some of these hillbillies on Facebook until the playoffs end.

His comments are 100% correct despite what some Sox fans tend to think. -
With the new playoff setup, very likely Hawks see the Blues in round 2. f*** St. Louis. Gonna slowly become the new Detroit. (To some extent)
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 9, 2013 -> 06:22 PM) If Theo is losing the baseball decision battle to Ricketts and Crane, the Cubs are going to be bad for a very long time. Those low attendance numbers do loom large for that franchise, the Ricketts have to be looking at those.

Remember in July when Soxtalk thought the Cardinals would trade Matt Adams for Alexei? LOL Nice run Pittsburgh. Game over.
-
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 9, 2013 -> 01:33 PM) Please don't tell the As are going to go with Bartolo tomorrow. Sounds like he's leaning towards using Sonny Gray.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 9, 2013 -> 02:37 PM) Am I the only one who thought Theo and Co. were so pompous believing Girardi would leave the Yankees and disrupt his family's lives to jump at a chance to manage the loser Cubs? I think it was a thank you for the extra cash they made him for being interested that he didn't sign with the Yankees 5 seconds after they made the offer. From what I had read, Girardi wasn't really Theo's top choice. This was more Ricketts & Crane Kenney having wanted Girardi in the past and looking for the biggest name.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 9, 2013 -> 11:37 AM) I can almost excuse that, what she did happened on a nationally televised broadcast. This is a hollywood divorce/seperation. Who the f*** cares It's not just a Hollywood divorce. That's a gold medal decathlete, at one time the greatest athlete in the world. That's why people care, right?
