QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 27, 2013 -> 10:48 PM) So yeah if there is something to that Rolling Stone article, Urban Meyer will be fired immediately. Here is the article. The Meyer stuff was overblown, nothing too bad at him, but holy s*** at everything else. -
QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Aug 27, 2013 -> 09:47 PM) The best part of this story is that he helped her move BEFORE they had sex. it sounds like she was the player in this story. Two fancy dinners, helped her move and she only had to give it up once.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 27, 2013 -> 02:08 PM) Pirates pick up Marlon Byrd and John Buck from the Mets. Tonight is Marlon Byrd T-shirt night at Citi Field

I don't think there's a player in the league not named Cabrera that can match a Soriano hot streak. He can carry a team for weeks. It's the other 4-5 months that's the problem.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 27, 2013 -> 01:15 PM) Geez. Ballplayers are sick if this is true. Some apparently will do anything to get the edge. I know the season is long, really long, and they get tired but just play the game the best you can drug-free. My gawd. Drug use to beat fatigue has been part of baseball since the 60s and 70s, if not earlier. It's not some new phenomenon.

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Aug 27, 2013 -> 01:21 PM) I have to imagine it's a lot easier today than it was back then. Before we were limited to the people within our physical location. School, hometown, local hang-outs, etc... Now you have the chance to interact with basically anyone that has an internet connection. It also lessens the fear of rejection since your initial contact isn't face-to-face with the other person. Nowadays it is much easier to directly contact a girl. In the past, you had to call her house, then her parents would pick up, and you would have to ask them to speak with her. So nerve wracking!

Wow, that's awesome. I definitely had never heard of that shot before.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 27, 2013 -> 11:45 AM) You beat me to it. The other day I watched the TV game as Jake took down some team out West in a complete game effort. The announcers were saying that Jake gave his manager a "look" after the 8th and the manager left him be and he finished the game. Harnessing your emotions to ramp up your competiveness is all Chris needs to learn Good for Jake that it worked out. With the Sox, it seemed like he would give the "look", go back out on the mound and get hit hard.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 27, 2013 -> 10:52 AM) So I was reading something last night that pointed out that 1 in 6 American men 7-foot tall or more between the ages of 20 and 40 is in the NBA. I found that pretty incredible. Additionally, I read that NBA players are not only disproportionately tall, but they have disproportionately long wingspans. This is just as important, if not more important, than their height. In regards to offensive rebounding, longer wingspans are more important than height, whereas for defensive rebounding, height is slightly more important. Black players tend to have longer wingspans than white players, although the average white player in the NBA is taller than the average black player. I think I read that there are only 2 players in the NBA with a shorter wingspan than is proportionate for their height....JJ Reddick, and Yao Ming, who is obviously seven-five. I guess I don't find that first stat very surprising. First, how many 7-footers do you ever see? It's rare to be that tall. Secondly, many of the 7-footers in the NBA suck at basketball. They are just so tall, teams put up with the badness because of the size. You can't teach 7 feet.

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Aug 26, 2013 -> 04:20 PM) Number 7 confused me for a second. Then I remembered about the shot. Of my 3 kids, only one was required to get it. The older two (born in 96 and 97) never had to get it. They got chicken pox the old fashioned way. Number 11 doesn't seem right either. Shouldn't it be 3? There's a chicken pox shot? (Things I should know as a new parent)

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 27, 2013 -> 10:34 AM) Who was Rankin in FNL? I don't remember him. Herc (Kevin Rankin) — Athlete with the same injury as Jason Street, he's Jason's roommate in the rehab center after his accident. He takes Jason under his wing and gets him interested in quad rugby. They later become roommates and go in on a real estate venture together before Jason leaves for the northeast.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 27, 2013 -> 08:25 AM) This will make masturbation incredibly difficult, unless he is a fan of the stranger. Oh who am I kidding, he probably hasn't masturbated in years Married with a young child? I'd say you are wrong

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 26, 2013 -> 10:18 PM) He is really sticking it to us. (former farmhand) Obviously has some extra motivation this series. EDIT: Career numbers against us comming in.. .324/.378/.588/.967 Good for him. Still make that trade with Arizona ten times out of ten. -
Oh boy. Matt Harvey to the DL with a torn UCL.

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 25, 2013 -> 07:47 PM) Cubs will get the third pick. There are 11 teams within five games of each other in the battle for the 3rd pick. Much more exciting than the 2nd wild card race.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 24, 2013 -> 09:51 PM) I want LaRussa if Robin decides to retire. Can't the Sox talk LaRussa into coming back? He should be refreshed by now. Just think if he signs for five-years with the plan winning a WS in years three, four and five. He'd be an all-time Chicago icon if he can turn us into the Cardinals. The Cardinals aren't where they are because of Tony LaRussa. They are always good because their front office finds talent out of nowhere low in the draft and develops those guys, while making smart free agent decisions. And when LaRussa was around, his pitching coach was even better than Cooper at turning garbage arms into good pitchers.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 11:33 PM) lol he's not bulls***ting. Williams actually lives in Austin (he went to UT). He was talking about how Ricky's athletic as hell (obviously), but he misplays balls in the OF at times. I should go check it out though. With as much ganja as Ricky smokes, of course some balls will be misplayed. Who cares? -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 11:07 PM) How bout a one-year deal at 2-3 million a year? He might bounce back. I won't cry if he leaves, I'm just predicting he doesn't want to retire after a season like this. Like I said before, he's not at the point where Carlton Fisk was and HAD to retire. When Fisk couldn't see the ball anymore. Konerko is not an embarrasment at first base. Maybe he's finished at the plate. But it won't cost the Sox much to find out. If you remember all this about me, maybe you secretly are challenged by my posts and like my posts. Were you never taught that a dissenting opinion is not always bad? It would be stupid if everybody agreed with everybody all the time. I also never said for sure we could have contended with AJ. I presented the possibility, that yes, the long stretch of losing starting with getting swept by the Cubs MIGHT have been avoided. Maybe the horrible defense and baserunning mistakes could have been nipped earlier with a guy like AJP around. We'll never know. We do lack power. Dunn has 28 home runs. Great. He's still not a productive hitter. Nobody can say he's a productive hitter and be correct. Why do I have to move on? Because I disagree with you? Great. If AJP was so important in the clubhouse why did the 2012 Sox collapse? Why did the 2009-2010 Sox get embarrassed by the Twins. Why did the 2008 Sox get swept with the season on the line? Why didn't AJ nip that bad play? -
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 08:19 PM) I don't think he fill the voids most teams need in the playoff hunt. An NL team won't take him. The only AL contender that could really use him is Texas, but they already splurged for Garza & Rios.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 09:50 PM) Rowand's one of those guys that I liked when he played on the team, but grew to dislike because of his bulls*** legend. He was a bad outfielder and, yes, obviously roided. Exactly. But he ran into walls so meatheads loved him and talked him up. -
QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 07:37 PM) To be honest...I wouldn't be surprised if the Dodgers dumped Mattingly and hired Scoscia. But I've been surprised his name hasn't been on the block already... Do you really think the Dodgers would dump Mattingly after a playoff season and historic 50-game run? No way.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 09:26 PM) I am stunned at how Rowand has seemingly disappeared That makes me happy. He was so overrated and obviously juiced up. I still hear about his stellar defense, yet he cost the Sox a game in that Sept 05 series vs Cleveland by misreading an easy fly out in the 9th, and that wasn't the first time. -
