  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 4, 2013 -> 10:56 PM) On that one, no. Williams wanted Thome. He left the decision to Ozzie on that one for any number of reasons. I understand the politics involved, but in the end it's the GM's roster. He let the inmates run the asylum and deserves some blame.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 4, 2013 -> 02:03 AM) Definitely No. 1 the 25-0 record. I'd be a happy camper. Sadly, the team is back in the tank, probably playing its worst baseball of the season. A happy camper that a 56-81 team suddenly went on a 25-game winning streak to end the season? I would be furious that those bums didn't try for the first 137 games. Nothing to do with any draft pick.
  3. QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Sep 4, 2013 -> 08:34 AM) Hjalmarsson just agreed to a 5 year extension. No way it stays at 3.5. Hopefully it's closer to 4 than another 5 hit. $4.1 M
  4. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 4, 2013 -> 09:01 AM) If you do that, you begin to get to the point where not taking a guy like Brady, Brees, Manning, or Rodgers in the first becomes silly because they are getting an additional 80 points compared to standard leagues. You are talking about 240 points from touchdowns alone, minus 20 points for the 10 interceptions he throws. Add the additional 160 points you get from the passing yards (4000, minimum, for ~160 points) and you're at 380. Then you can throw in 2-6 (we'll use 4) rushing touchdowns and 160 rushing yards (which is a rather small amount for some of these guys) and you are looking at 420 points, which is almost 90 points more than Adrian Peterson got last year in standard leagues. Cut that to 4 points per touchdown, and the world makes sense again. Passing touchdowns are not equal to receiving or rushing touchdowns, which is why we track them separately. Same thing with passing yards. There is a reason why they are 25 yards per point, and not ten.
  5. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 10:34 PM) Well if that's the case, sure. But those leagues are silly. I concur.
  6. Personally I'm indifferent to winning and losing in a season like this. I'm not the type of person to openly root for my team to lose, but the games don't matter so I don't really care much about who is winning. Mostly I just hope the young guys play well and that if they do lose, it's fun-bad, so I get a few laughs along the way.
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 05:29 PM) I got the roast on DVR. As do I. We caught up on some of the older roasts they were replaying, those things all just crack me up.
  8. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 07:25 PM) Corey Crawford, entering the 2014-2015 season, will be earning the same as Kane/Toews (who will be UFA after that season) He will be the 5th highest paid goalie in 2014-2015. (Lundqvist will be a FA) People have said that the cap will dramatically increase in upcoming year. It better, because as you mentioned, Kane & Toews are gonna have to get paid as well.
  9. Not a fan of giving a goalie that much money, hope it doesn't come back to hurt them later in the deal.
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 1, 2013 -> 09:23 PM) BrBa was pretty boring today until the last few minutes. Hank really came off as a total douche. boring? Another outstanding episode IMO. Skylar asking for Jesses death? Marie being so friendly with Jesse? So many good scenes.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 1, 2013 -> 03:19 AM) I watched some of the Northwestern game. Damn NU looks good again. Serious question. I'm assuming NW recruits the Chicago area amazingly well. How come Illini can't build a powerful program just from Chicago Catholic League and Public League kids and some of those studs in suburbia??? Because they wouldn't be very good. (Not that Illinois is any good now). Chicagoland surprisingly lacks in the football talent department. Most of Northwesterns best players are from out of state.
  12. QUOTE (danman31 @ Sep 1, 2013 -> 12:48 AM) I think there are college jobs that he would take. I doubt he would make the NFL leap though. He already said no to Notre Dame.
  13. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 1, 2013 -> 12:35 AM) Zoom do you think they can lock up fitzgerald forever? Personally I think the only job Fitz would leave for is the Bears
  14. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 31, 2013 -> 11:16 PM) Just saw the bottom line score...no wonder heads hasn't posted... Did Ali Farokmenesh hit a last second field goal?
  15. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Aug 31, 2013 -> 09:27 PM) FINALLY game time for NU. West coast games suck. Go Cats!!!! (Yes, an Illini fan that roots for NW too)
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 31, 2013 -> 09:14 PM) What was the issue you guys were hacking watching Illini/SIU? I live near Elgin and had the whole game on BTN-a (610-1 on directv) My buddy in Lincoln Square called me at 11:15 that BTN had the Wisconsin game on and every single BTN overlay channel had the Wisconsin game too. He had Comcast, so do I, in Park Ridge BTN showed the Illini game all day (Unfortunately). And I saw several people on here that couldn't watch the game.
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 31, 2013 -> 07:50 PM) Alshon Jeffery? 2012. After Angelo
  18. The Bears made 20 draft picks from 2009-2011. Five players are left on the roster. Wright, Conte, Paea, Wooton, and Melton. All defense of course.
  19. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 31, 2013 -> 06:57 PM) I'm in the SW burbs. Missed first three quarters at least. Stopped trying after that. I guess it's proof that Illinois truly isn't "Chicago's Big Ten team".
  20. As football season begins, the weekend game threads get smaller and smaller.
  21. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 31, 2013 -> 02:02 PM) I have nothing against people who are religious but this is the type of crap that makes one hate Tebow. What a joke. plenty of players say that type of stuff. Tebow is the only one who has his own national sports network promoting him. That's the problem.
  22. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 31, 2013 -> 05:58 PM) I missed the game thanks to the btns s***tiness. But Beckman needed to go after last year. It was perfectly clear he was in over his head. We really got another sideline interference call? Lololol Did they never fix the BTN feed in the city? I live next to OHare in the burbs and had the Illinois game from the start.
  23. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 31, 2013 -> 02:29 PM) Who was the dumb Illini coach that got called for sideline infraction? What was he doing? Just trying to imitate the head coach
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 31, 2013 -> 10:47 AM) An inconsistent delivery might be exactly the kind of thing a guy would wind up with if you've screwed with him bouncing him back and forth between the bullpen and the rotation for 2 years. Naming him closer is still one of the most puzzling personnel decisions the Sox have made in recent years.
