  1. KW knows he can not sign Chapman. I think the Angels will land him after Lackey defected to Boston. The Mets are the wild card here. They need pitching and I assume Wilpon has some money left. The White Sox will sign other Cubans. That is my gut feeling. Chapman video clips in case you want to see them. http://cubanballplayers.blogspot.com/2009/...-in-tryout.html
  2. If the Royals sign Chapman, I switching my alliance from the Sox to the Royals. Betancourt, Arguelles, Chapman... Ha, ha, ha http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/news/articl...sp&c_id=nyy
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 3, 2009 -> 03:53 PM) Probably not a smart thing to go back into Cuba now, eh? I am . Actually, it would be better for him to drop some weight to get in better shape.
  4. I wanted to post this long time ago, but it is better now than never. http://cubanballplayers.blogspot.com/2009/...at-in-cuba.html
  5. I just want know why we are still in Iraq after he repeatelly said during his campaign we would be out immediately if he happened to become president. Let's not forget and give him a free pass. Let's rationalize health care. This is an excellent idea. Let's spend money we do not have. This is an excellent idea. Let's have more wars with Chinese money. The best of all ideas. I guess I will have to retire at age 80. Higher taxes are coming down the road for sure and my kids will be picking up the tab too. Good Bless our leaders!
  6. The 100 years old el Duke is pitching in the Venezuela Winter League. http://www.mlb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?po...&pid=133340
  7. The thing is that he has been in the USA for less than 16 years but his son is 16. I have a documentary on Jose and I swear he does not mention any son. He showed his two daughters and mentioned he just had a baby boy. Who knows!
  8. My bad. I recall now he had a son with his first wife shortly after she came.
  9. QUOTE (CSF @ Nov 21, 2009 -> 06:05 PM) Interesting. From Rotoworld: What son???? He has two daughters with his ex Cuban wife Mirian. The one that came by boat when he was with the Yanks. He divorced her and married a Brazilian model. They had a boy that should be 3 or 4.
  10. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 09:29 AM) Here's a pretty detailed scouting report on Chapman. http://www.baseball-intellect.com/aroldis-...u-need-to-know/ That is good stuff. I think it will be easier for him to throw some fastballs using a higher arm slot.
  11. http://cubanballplayers.blogspot.com/2009/...thirteenth.html
  12. RHP Yadel Marti continued his impressive Dominican campaign today. I also have a video from SS Yadil Mujica who is a free agent. http://cubanballplayers.blogspot.com/2009/...ext-alexei.html Anderson could be an interesting addition to any club. He can play any of the outfield positions and 1B.
  13. I met him in a Cuban forum. You can not post anything about MLB so I started sending PM to several baseball fans with info about MLB, boxing, etc. Hell with the Commies! You know what they do. They print and pass it along to others. I even send an email to a reporter with my blog and he thanked me because he needed info about Cubans outside the islands. Ha, ha , ha. What the rest of you think about what he wrote?
  14. This guy inside Cuba sent me the below in Spanish. I translated the best way I could. I hope some of you read it and feel good about living in USA. The guy has a college degree and follow MLB anyway he can. God Bless America! God: Do you have any blessing for Cuba? http://cubanballplayers.blogspot.com/2009/...-censor-us.html
  15. QUOTE (1977 sox fan @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 09:16 AM) how about yasser gomez ? I have doubts he could play CF after playing RF for most of his career. The question is do you want a RF with 0 power but a 300 candidate. He won't be a leadoff hitter. He may bat second.
  16. Go after Reinier Roibal or Yuniesky Maya or even Yadel Marti for less money. Chapman will be too costly for a mid-market team such as the White Sox. You can even get 3 or 4 Cuban free agents for the price of Chapman. Young SS Adeiny Hechevarria should be considered. You can have him for 8-10 millions probably. He will be your long term SS. He is only 19. Roibal http://cubanballplayers.blogspot.com/2009/...-my-second.html Maya http://cubanballplayers.blogspot.com/2009/...ourth-best.html
  17. QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 27, 2009 -> 05:06 PM) Cubano do you go to O's games? I go one or two times a year. I saw Kendry, Contreas and Alexei. The Nats ballpark is closer to me and I have not attended any games yet. I have a bunch of minor leagues teams around. I went to see Juan Miranda when the he was in AA in Harrisburg. A little bit far though. I have the Frederick Keys, Hagerstown Suns, Bowie, Potomac Nationals, etc.
  18. The Tigers have contacted Chapman's camp. He may be striking out Alexei and Dayan in detriment of Sox fans. Ha, ha, ha. Even the Orioles have expressed interest. That is interesting giving the refusal of the O's to sign recent arrive defectors.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 27, 2009 -> 07:03 AM) Do you think he will be a more valuable offensive force than Viciedo, or just a better first baseman? That is a tough question. Viciedo debuted in the Cuban league very young. He is still young so his numbers have more merits than Jose Julio. I think the overall package (offense and defense) Jose Julio is better. Jose Julio may benefit from Kendry Morales' performance and may be more costly now. The White Sox need a left handed power hitter too. Maybe Jose Julio could be that guy if KW does not sign or trade for one. Jose Julio's number dropped lately but his mind was outside Cuba. It is tough to concentrate when your mind is somewhere else.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 26, 2009 -> 08:46 PM) You have him rated higher than Viciedo? Well, Viciedo does not count because he is no new to America. I am just rating the newest defectors without an MLB contract. I will include Jose Iglesias despite he is signed because he is kind of new. I like Jose Julio better than Viciedo for first base. Vicedo is much younger but Jose Julio has pop too. He has a sweet swing. He is a good glove too.
  21. I think he has a shot of making out of ST if he signs with the right team. He had some difficulty against left handers. I saw him hit a HR above the roof in Santiago de Cuba. He is young and he seems in a mission every time I read something about him. I wrote about him here: http://cubanballplayers.blogspot.com/2009/...third-best.html
  22. I translated the main news about these players. I thought Argüelles would hit 94 MPH, but he has fallen short. I think he may have gotten an offer but he has not signed because he wants José Iglesias type money. I have the feeling the White Sox are looking at some of these guys. Former White Sox El Duque will pitch in Venezuela. http://cubanballplayers.blogspot.com/2009/...next-cuban.html
  23. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Oct 17, 2009 -> 11:40 AM) Is Anderson being repped by Jaime Torres? If so your write up makes him sound like something we could use. If the numbers you gave on your site are correct then he walked once every 7.5 AB and struck out once every 8.3 AB in Cuba. So I guess that would be kind of like a prospect drawing 67 BB vs. 60 K's in 500 AB in Birmingham or something. That definitely sounds interesting, and if he has a little bit of pop to go with that I'd be all for it assuming it wasn't extremely expensive. But I'd look at him to be a Kotsay replacement who kind of starts all over the place and gets regular playing time that way instead of a straight starter somewhere. I think he is represented by the new company created by Jorge Toca who played for the Mets and also played for White Sox AAA team. I think KW will go after somebody like Anderson or Jose Ruiz who will not cost too much. The numbers are correct. The stats I post in my blog are correct.
  24. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Oct 16, 2009 -> 08:05 AM) I'd love to get Leslie Andersen on this team. He's a great all-around player, i'm just not sure he has a place here. Much of his value comes from his versatility, and we'd likely have to stick him in a Corner. I think the WS will land at least one these players. I wrote this about Anderson. http://cubanballplayers.blogspot.com/2009/...fifth-best.html I wrote this about Cuban 1B in exile. http://cubanballplayers.blogspot.com/2009/...basemen-in.html
  25. I read this in another forum. The link was not provided. PEORIA, Ariz. -- Dayan Viciedo became the first Chicago player to homer in this year's Arizona Fall League when he went deep Thursday. The White Sox third base prospect turned on an 0-2 pitch from Astros righty Dan Meszorak and deposited it on the berm well beyond the 385-foot sign in left-center in the Peoria Javelinas' 17-9 romp over the Peoria Saguaros. The homer capped a 3-for-5 day for Viciedo. He also singled twice, walked and scored three runs.
