  1. I think the Sox have not tried Viciedo at other positions in order to protect him. I think they want him to concentrate at hitting and do not want him to worry about any other position but 3B.
  2. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 07:05 PM) Palmiero? Born in Cuba, but an USA baseball product.
  3. I would try to sign LHP Noel Arguelles first. He is 19-20 years old. He is tall and has long arms and can hit 90-94 MPH. All these Cuban players need to go to the minors to regain their shape. They have not played in a long time. I assume any signing would be toward 2010 MLB season. They can be evaluated in the minors this year. The Braves have a lot of Cubans too. SS Yunel Escobar 1B Barbaro Canizares LHP Francisley Bueno RHP Vladimir Nunez OF Donel Linares
  4. Fire the owners and front office as well!
  5. LHP Noel Argüelles and SS/2B José Iglesias are my favorites in this group. Argüelles is the better prospect. Both defected last year during the World Junior Championship in Canada. The Sox do not need Jose Iglesias. He is a contact hitter. SS Juan Carlos Moreno, SS/2B Yasmani Guerra and RHP Alexei Gil. Morero is a veteran and is a gold glover. He played for Cuba in the WBC # 1. Guerra is a contact hitter and has some speed. Gil thorws over 90 MPH but needs to improve his control. Marti and Gomez. Marti is a crafty RHP with control. Some injuries had slowed him down lately. Gomez is a contact hitter and has played RF for Industriales. I would not sign him to a Major League contract. He is not that young.

  7. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 05:32 PM) in other former World Championship news, Duque is now a Ranger. How long before he gets injured? Texas is really desperate for pitching when they are willing to try El Duque.
  8. They can go and work for Walt-Mart who is adding 22,000 jobs. Ha, ha, ha.
  9. As soon as you have a government run health care, private companies will eliminate their coverage. There is no sense for them not to reduce costs. Obama and the democrats are smart by saying the new system will not compete with the private system but in fact it will. That is the way lefties operate. Let start with something first and then we expand. Hopefully, I am wrong and it will take lots of year for me to finally say to you a loud "I told you so". Medicare, Medicaid and SS are bankarrupts. Then, we want another program run by the government. How about having these people without insurance who work and buy the federal health insurance? If you do not work, then no health care for you.
  10. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 01:42 PM) Theyre still a business that is trying to make as much profit as possible, you take that away you threaten to take away their resources to reinvest into R&D, and then everybody hurts because less advancements in medicine are made. If I am one of these companies, I will be moving overseas. These comanies have to run a business and pay their workers, investors, etc.
  11. Does anybody here live in one of the countries with free health care like Canada, France, etc? In Cuba, for example, there is shortage of medicines, IV's, long lines to see a doctor, etc. If you go to a hospital, then you need to take sheets, pillows, soaps, etc. If a doctor performs a wrong procedure, you can not sue him. I am not saying the USA will be like that, but the quality will suffer. I garantee you that.
  12. Why do I have to pay for somebody consuming drugs in the street? Why do I have to pay for somebody that is sitting at home watching soap opera or Jerry Springer or Geraldo Rivera or Oprah? Why do I have to pay for somebody that keep having kids with 100 men to collect government handouts? Why do I have to pay for somebody that simply do not want to improve themselves? I can not wait for the elections again. With all the spending going on, inflation should pick up to high levels. Hopefully, voters will blame Obama.
  13. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 03:38 PM) You really strongly believe in social utopia, don't you? Folks, I came from a socialist system. I lived in one for many years where the government controls everything. It does not work. It is not efficient. Nobody cares about anything because the government is the boss. Waste, bad service and frustation are the norm. When is the last time the government managed something good?
  14. QUOTE (Sox1422 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 06:13 AM) Good. Now bring up Danks and Viciedo for Wise and Fields. I am with you man. Show the door to all this proven bombs. It time to play the kids to see what they can do and gain experience to see if we can win it all in three years from now.
  15. One of the reason I do not post more is because forumers like this one. As you can see, I had a friendly encounter with him in this thread. He is even a Moderator. Almost every time I write something, this guy comes with the Cuban thing. Is not Freddy Garcia a wash out player at this point? http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...72114&st=75 I really do not have time for this kind of forumers.
  16. The problem with the Republican brand theses days is that their stars are Dick Cheney and Newt Gingrich, two guys from the past. The Republican governors like Timothy James Pawlenty, Charlie Crist and Piyush "Bobby" Jindal need to become the spokepersons. They need to speak against the Stimulus package. We have spent around 37 billions already. The economy seems to be stabilizing. Why incur on this much debt? The USA can not afford this spending. Now, Obama wants a national health care. Medicare and Medicaid are bankarrupt. Now, Obama wants another program even larger than both of these programs. I am sure it will bankarrupt pretty soon. Private health plan will be history because the government will set prices. Most of these jobs Obama says he is creating are bad and temporary jobs. Summer jobs and contructions jobs to repair bridges and infrastructure. When all these projects are finished, then what. Go to the unemployment office.
  17. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 08:26 AM) apparently the washed IN Cuban players arent desirable You love me! Don't you! Washed out player can be of any origin, race, religion, geographical area or nationality. Man, drop it! Let it go!
  18. MLB teams keeps recycling the wash out players. This is surreal!
  19. I hear about this every year and the guy is still there.
  20. He is not that great anyways. The Yanks would had made another major mistake signing international players. I do not know what kind of scouting the Yanks has. Their scouting is horrendous. http://cubanballplayers.blogspot.com/2009/...ded-by-mlb.html
  21. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 09:43 AM) It apperas Dayan is no different than most cubans with his refusal to walk. It'd be nice to see that slugging % get up there too. .286/.303/.381/.684 OPS in AA Latin players in general do not walk out of the island. That is the saying! Escobar and Kendry are kind of patient. They work the count though they do not have to many BB to show for it.
  22. He is from Pinar del Rio. In Cuba there is a saying that says: "Are you dumb or are you from Pinar del Rio? Meaning you must be dumb because you are from Pinar. I wrote long time ago that his transition to SS would be bumpy. He is not accustumed to play there. maybe Guillen needs to threaten him.
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 11:09 PM) Apparently Buddy Bell commented yesterday that he's ready for the majors. So I think we see him this year, but that of course is because I see some massive changes going on in Chicago this season. I also think we might end up seeing all of the Bham guys shortly (Flowers/Allen/Viciedo). They will bring excitment to the ticket sales and the fan base. This team will not win the championship with the players we have now. Let the young dudes play and get their feet wet agaisnt the Halladays, Greinkes, Sabathias of these world.
  24. This Camp Cora must be closed like Guantanamo Bay prision though I am in favor to through these guys to the ocean for shark meat. Viciedo can not field. Cora said Viciedo will make history. Time will tell about the veracity of his prediction about Viciedo. Fields fielding is 945 and his hitting has been dismal. Cora said Fields would rock. I forgot what he said about Lexi in SS. I like somebody to ask Cora about his work with these players in Miami and all his sweet talk. I give Cora credit for putting Alexei in the second spot while Guillen was away. I wonder why it took so long for somebody to realize this. He is fast, can bunt, will see more fastballs there so you do not face the third place hitter with men on base, etc.
