  1. http://cubanballplayers.blogspot.com/2009/...r-escogido.html I thought the Chi Sox would want to block him with 500 + AB.
  2. How about the percentage for players selected in the Draft? If you know, can you provide any link that refers to this? Thanks,
  3. I failed to mention that the British took Havana from Spain but gave it back soon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Havana_(1762)
  4. I meant to quote Lostfan in the last message not Thunderbolt.
  5. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 09:58 PM) I'd love to bring Anderson into the fold. The kid can hit. A little Cuban history. Native Cubans (Tainos, Siboneyes) inhabited the island. Then, the Spaniards came. Unlike the indians in Central America, North America and South America, the indians in the Caribbean were weaker as a race and were not as many as in other parts. They were very susceptible to illnesses combined with their small populations and hard labor, they were extinct quickly. The Spaniards who claim they discovered the new world, but the new world was already there brought Spanish names and last names. They also brought the Spanish guitar. The Spaniards brought the slaves from Africa and their drums when no more indians were available. That is our West-African influence. Spanish guitar plus drum = Son Cubano or Cuban Salsa which is the original. That Salsa name was given to Cuban music by Latinos in New York. Going back to the history. Some Americans came to Cuba. Some Chinese came to Cuba. Some Haitians came to Cuba. Some Jamaicans came to Cuba. Some Russians (not many) came to Cuba. Haitians and Jamaicans came looking for better opportunities before the Cuban Taliban Castro stole power. Then, you have Leslie Anderson, Alexei Bell, Alfredo Despaigne, Aroldis Chapman, Michel Gorguet, Kenen Bailly, Pedro Poll, etc. Most of these Haitians and Jamaicans descendants are located in the east part of Cuba. Guantanamo, Santiago de Cuba, Granma, Holguin... I hope this help.
  6. Anderson is in Mexico. We need free agency and a contract for him soon. He played for my hometown team. http://cubanballplayers.blogspot.com/
  7. They do not say anything. Everybody eventually find out but the authorities do not mention it unless they want to go on a rampange against an agent.
  8. and many more to come....looking for their freedom and the George Washingtons $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ http://cubanballplayers.blogspot.com/2009/...-left-cuba.html
  9. I saw him pitch. I wrote something in my blog. Less than 50 % of his pitches this year were fastballs and that is not good for Jose! I wonder why Cooper did not address this issue with Jose. I remember once he came to CHiSox Cooper worked with him on this. http://cubanballplayers.blogspot.com/
  10. Then, I do not know where I got he was a CF. Then, I have more question. Ha, ha, ha. Who is the LF in Chi Sox history with more HR in a season? What LF has the most HR in his career? It has to be Carloses. Quentin last year and Lee. Am I missing anybody else from previous decades? Thanks,
  11. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 10:32 AM) With at least 70% of their games played in CF: 24 - Aaron Rowand, 2004 24 - Larry Doby, 1956 22 - Tommy Agee, 1966 22 - Jim Landis, 1961 20 - Ken Henderson, 1974 For a career: 83 - Jim Landis 73 - Chet Lemon 54 - Aaron Rowand 38 - Larry Doby 38 - Happy Felsch Minoso also hit 24 in 1958. He is listed in LF and OF. It is confusing. I thought he was primarely a CF. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...i01.shtml?redir Kalapse: How about Minoso?
  12. Thank you, everybody. I like history and stats. Maybe, the administrators should have a section for all these kind of things.
  13. Who is the CF in Chi Sox history with more HR in a season? What CF has the most HR in his career? Thanks again, Cubano
  14. I really appreciate all your answers folks.
  15. Who holds the White Sox record for most HR in a season for SS and 2B positions only? Who has the most career HR in those positions? Thanks, Cubano http://cubanballplayers.blogspot.com/
  16. Is he a major leaguer at this point? Release him!
  17. I do not proclaim violence. You can vote next time around. Let's concentrate about the topic of this thread.

    Alexei

I told you guys that I did not like Alexei at SS. I laughed at White Sox saying his best position is SS. He played very little SS in Cuba for so many years. He is not 20.
  19. Cash for Clunkers is another gimmick form the USA government. People are getting more debt as a result. The government has not paid the dealers most of the money becuase simply the government in any country is inept and inefficient. This begs the question: If this mismangement is happnening with a simple rebate program, what would happen with a mejor and complicated program like a national health program? Join me in opposing any more government intrusion in our lives.
  20. I am sad guys. Leslie Anderson looks like was arrested during some intrasquads games in Cuba. Apparently, he was trying to defect in Europe in September during the IBAF World Cup. He is from my province. I hope he can get out by boat. The security came to Villa Clara stadium and took him away. Thanks, guys. Cubano http://cubanballplayers.blogspot.com/
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 07:27 PM) I'm pretty sure his service time starts when he's called up. That's why Boras had to insert the "Call up this kid this year" clause for Andrew Miller, for example. Yes, service starts when you are with the big club. Time in the minors do not count even with a Major League contract.
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 17, 2009 -> 04:48 PM) If the Nationals' offer was only $12.5 million, they should be ashamed and boycotted. I in no way think they should even approach the number Boras wants, but I'd think $20 million in a market like Washington would be worth it given the fact that they failed to sign their pick from last year as well. I'm glad I follow a team that cares. Come on guy! Show some respect to my team. Ha, ha , ha! Just kidding!
  23. QUOTE (jenks45monster @ Aug 17, 2009 -> 03:24 PM) I've also heard Japan as a possible destination should he not sign. I heard on a local TV stations Japanese owners said no. Japanese are mad at MLB for signing Tazawa. They have agreements between leagues not to do this things. My guess is that Strasburg will sign tonight.
