QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 11:14 PM) Here's a novel concept, Greg: He was right to interpret my joke and ribbing as it was. A JOKE. Too many people here overreact all the damn time after losses and have selective amnesia when the Sox win. I'm glad at least someone recognized my comments to WSBrian for what they were. I'm sorry that you took my joke personally WSB, I was only kidding with you. I didn't take it personally, I was only explaining my statement.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 09:36 PM) THIS.TEAM.IS.DEAD. ONLY SCORING 9 RUNS? C'MON! HOW CAN THEY WIN WITHOUT HOME RUNS, THEIR CLOSER AND WITH KONERKO AT 1ST?! For the 87th time, we had come off 3 straight games of looking like crap. Fortunately, we got many breaks since we were playing the bad Royals and so we won 2 of those. Our effort in the 3rd game, against the same pitcher we blasted tonight, was awful- thank Walker for that, he obviously learned his lesson, our approach was 10x better tonight. Who's complaining about run production? Actually, it's a proven stat that when we hit a home run in a game we're something like 40-15 and and when we don't we're 5-10 games under .500. Konerko didn't do anything bone-head today at 1st for the first time in 3 or 4 games, so unless he does, he'll be fine. And, we won without their closer? Huh?

Guillen was out today due to back spasms says kcroyals.com. Hopefully this sidelines him tomorrow and maybe even Sunday.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 09:51 PM) Jenks in the 9th? I'd like to see Linebrink or Jenks. Like you said earlier, I'd like to see Linebrink just to know he's still breathing. But, I'd like to see Jenks to see if his heater is back up to 96-97.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 08:43 PM) Did he pitch tonight? Looper did.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 08:42 PM) What makes you so sure he won't? He has 6 IP in 2 years (counting this year).

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 09:36 PM) I'm not going to count out any team that might add in 2 pitchers equal in quality to what the Cubs and Brewers traded for until its over. What 2 pitchers combined left on the market are equal in quality of CC and Harden? Burnett? Please. BTW- Carlos Lee's HR officially landed........in Dallas.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 08:33 PM) Cardinals down 7-6 to the Padres though. I know this is what they always say about St. Louis, just like Minnesota, but the Brewers will be the one's giving the Cubs a run, not the Cards. SF has Cain going for them tonight who is on-and-off but Milwaukee has CC going.

6-0 Minnesota. Damn.

Good. Thank you for not trying to hit to Iowa.

8-4.

Can we please get 1 here? We already did the usual "1 bases loaded, 0 outs, don't score" a game, now we have the same plus an out. Come on, Swish. Twins up 2-0 in the 7th.

Hank Blalock overcomes after-steroid injuries and is finally back in the Texas lineup. Give it up for Hank. Twins win, Tigers lose.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 05:39 PM) Yeah. LOL @ an NFL player for being confident and believing in his team. What a joke. First off, you can believe in a team, but don't make predictions like this. If Chad Johnson would have come out and said something like this everyone would be ripping on him. -

QUOTE (JFields27 @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 08:19 PM) The Convention was so awesome, it was great seeing all the players come out it was well done. Nothing could beat the roar when Toews got the 'C' I'll be there tomorrow. Can't wait... -
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 08:57 PM) And we let KC back into the game. This is similar to many other games we've had vs the Royals in the past. Good thing the rally killers (PK, Swisher, and Crede) kept KC in the game a few innings ago. Agreed. When it's 7-1, a bases loaded no out situation and not scoring isn't that bad, but after a 3 run HR to bring the opponent within 3 runs it's magnified x10. Hopefully we can get 1 or 2 more here against Pedro Martinez for the Royals.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 07:52 PM) what the hell is peralta signaling? That he's Pedro Martinez.

Oops, somebody move this to the SLAM forum.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 04:19 PM) Nice to see that the Cubs will miss both Webb and Haren when they play at Arizona next week. Last time they played Arizona, they missed Webb, too. Go figure.
