  1. QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 10:37 AM) And you are not his biggest fan. You're right. I am.
  2. At one point a few years back when Maddux won 300, the only 2 other SPs to be on pace (at that time) were Sabathia and Buehrle. I wonder if that is still working for Mark...
  3. It's a solid pick-up. I feel much better as now Forte doesn't have to carry the load. They'll only carry 3 RBs so I see Peterson going to ST full time unless there's an injury.
  4. Eat a deep-dish place, whether it's Malnati's, Gino's, or Giordano's. Eat a chicago hot dog (vienna beef) See a Sox game and a Cubs game Go to the top of Sears/Hancock Walk Michigan Ave (great shopping if you like that) Go on one of those sea-dog boat tours (40 mph and great view of the skyline, will get wet)
  5. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 12:39 AM) Where would he play? Konerko's going nowhere guys. Here we go- you may think I'm nuts, but I was thinking: Crede walks. We then want Adrian Beltre because KW is not sure on Fields. The Mariners say they want tons of prospects but we tell them they must take Konerko. They don't exactly have a set #1 1B man so it could make sense. We deal them Konerko, Broadway, Fields, and Getz for Beltre. This way, we could be Swish at 1B, Anderson/Wise in CF, Beltre at 3B, (Thome walks due to not enough plate appearances) and Dunn at DH.
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 09:41 PM) There would only be 2 reasons to watch a HR Derby at Wrigley. Seeing a possibly roof shot across the street, and seeing someone hit the CF scoreboard, or possibly over it. That one 518 foot shot Hamilton hit today might have went over a rooftop.
  7. Let me start off by saying that I'm in the middle on this guy. His OBP is around .380 and his power numbers are obviously there, but his BA obviously is horrible. I heard this on 670 the other morning around 9 so I'm not familiar with who said it because I don't like listening to that dopey station. He is a FA after this year and Thome may be gone due to I'm not sure he'll reach 1100 plate appearances or whatever. I'm not so sure on bringing Dunn in (another reason) because I think he'll want too much per. I just want to see what you guys thought about him possibly DHing for us next year given the fact that he doesn't want a huge amount per.
  8. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 10:08 PM) I'm gonna agree on the Reilly comments. Especially that over the top line at the end. He also made a comment like "Who needs steroids?" What an a**. Did they ever show what was in the briefcase Volquez gave Hamilton? BTW- If this one would have been at The Cell, one of those HRs by Hamilton might have went out of the stadium.
  9. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 09:11 PM) I love watching him play, but I don't think it's a feel good story when he was a hardcore druggy. That's something he brought upon himself. Sorry. And he also brought it upon himself to figure it out, quit, and make a comeback. And that he did. He's taken full responsibility by hiring Sam Narron to be his guide and to not use alcohol thus bringing his wife back. I completely agree with you, Wilmot. It'll be good to finally see somebody other than Brett Favre get the top headline tomorrow on First Take, Outside the Lines, Rome, ATH, and PTI. I am so sick of that BS and like you said, I was honestly getting tears and chills watching this. What an incredible show.
  10. I love baseball because... Sometimes Hawk brings it up, but it was designed so perfectly. 90 feet was perfect for the base-paths. Imagine how many of those bang-bang plays would be clear outs if they were longer or how many guys would clearly be safe if they were shorter. Imagine- guys would be throwing 105 mph if the mound was 55-58 feet from home. It's a beautiful game. Just ask Gerald Early, who made this quote famous, and so it's one of my favorite quotes of all time.
  11. QUOTE (The Bones @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 09:51 PM) God hates Josh Hamilton Wow. The first round performance by Hamilton was one of the most incredible things I've ever watched.
  12. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 04:51 PM) Only one of those guys would be traded (Broadway). I'd find it hard to believe the first two would be of more value to them than they would be to us. If that's the case, I'm not so sure we'd be able to get him. We'd probably have to give up Poreda and I think he'll end up being the better SP/RP in this league then Richard will be.
  13. But, I think this would be a good move. Danks and Floyd will be going over their season best IP this year as well and I don't think that should affect them. Duchscherer might just win the Cy Young and he'd be a great addition. We'd be 5 deep with a solid guy like Vazquez at the back of the rotation. I'm not sure what I'd give up for him. Getz, Richard, Broadway, and Crede (maybe?)...
  14. Where is this on WSI? I can't seem to find it.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 04:25 PM) Where did I say I didn't trust Duchscherer's arm? I never said you didn't trust it. But to give up Contreras (arm questions) for Duchscherer (arm questions) wouldn't make much sense. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 04:28 PM) Instead of posting over 35 posts a day, why don't you think before you post? The last thing Oakland wants is bloated contracts. Even with there spot in the standings, they are rebuilding. They want young, cheap talent that will be around for a while. Contreras as no value to a rebuilding team, right now the Konerko contract is an albatross(even though I think he is going to turn it around), and Cabrera is an expiring contract(but has value to the Sox). This isn't the NBA. It's under 30. Nice try, though. I like how you bash me for it but never fathom who has 27 posts per day. Thanks, and that's all you needed to say. I know, it was so much to ask for.
  16. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 04:22 PM) None of those names will interest Oakland. Instead of just posting negatively about everyones' posts, why don't you post what you think they'd want?
  17. Q's GW HR off of Marmol Coneback vs Cleveland with 2 outs in extras AJs walkoff vs Cleveland
  18. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 04:18 PM) Do you trust Jose's arm in the 2nd half? I sure don't. So give up on a SP in whom you don't trust his arm for another? Good logic. I think it'd be a solid pickup. Like Tony said though, we'd probably have to give them a lot. Contreras, Paulie, Cabrera, etc.
  19. I've kind of taken off from WWE from a bit. Somebody update me- where's Undertaker, what did Kane say that think it's 2-Pac Taker or Bearer, what's Cena do, is he still a face, is HHH a face?
  20. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 09:20 PM) i was quite pissed after this series with texas, but one thing i've been wondering with regards to pitching there it's gotta be pretty difficult to pitch in 100 degree temperatures, especially if you're not used to it perhaps this is why texas rarely ever fields a winning pitching staff, and why that team is so f***ing balls to the wall awesome in their home park hamilton has hit like ....most of his homeruns there (14 @ home, 7 on road..), and he hits at a goddamn .364 clip at home, .266 on the road TEX offensive stats home: .300 BA (.372/.503/.875) away: .266 BA (.336/.421/.757) interesting I figured it'd be something like that. I know Hamilton is an average hitter on the road compared to at home.
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 10:13 PM) Bourgois isn't a starting RFer. If you want to talk about potential starting RFers, please throw out the name Shelby/Danks (although both are more CF). In fact the Sox really don't have a strong corner hitting OF prospect in the system currently (Jose Martinez may develop that power though). Oh and another note, next year Dye won't be in RF (Quentin will). Then where will Dye be?
  22. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 10:08 PM) If Jason Bourgeois is our right fielder, I'll just assume our team plane crashed. He's 26 and is hitting a solid .295 in Charlotte. Why is that so bad? It's not like we have tons of great OF prospects. Dye can't play forever.
  23. I'm going to watch for the first time in 3 years to hopefully see a 510+ foot HR by Hamilton.
  24. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 07:05 PM) Is this in jest? Why?
