  1. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 12:38 PM) Again- is there a stat that shows which staff is leading the MLB in runs given up right after your offense gets you 1 or more runs the previous half inning? Like I said, we might be the worst in that department in the league this year.

  3. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 02:46 AM) Looks like quite the trip. I've got tons of pictures as well. And I hate to break it to you, but I'm pretty sure those aren't the Northern Lights. That looks more like the sunset reflecting off the clouds. The Northern Lights are generally green with some purple sometimes. When I was up there, we flew threw the Northern Lights, which was awesome seeing at night through the window. Then we also saw it a couple times driving back from Homer to Anchorage in the middle of the night. Seeing the green floating around in the sky is something you never forget. You could be right. The cruise director promised if he saw any whales or the northern lights he'd make an announcement. He could be wrong- he said Alaska wasn't his thing.
  4. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 02:15 AM) Alaskan Cruise's don't even do the state justice. The inland parts are just as beautiful as the gorges and icebergs and glaciers. The entire Kenai Peninsula is amazing, and Denali is awesome too. There is a ginormous taige north of the Cook Inlet which has a road going right through it. It is something else to drive through. Nothing but trees packed tightly together, all the same height, for miles and miles on all sides and they're only inches off the road. Don't worry, we were on the land for some time, too. Here are some pictures: Mt. St. Helens from the plane flying into Seattle. Rainforest in Juneau. Northern Lights somewhere cruising Glacier Bay. Nice scenery in Skagway More nice Skagway scenery As you can probably tell, Skagway was my favorite city. When I saw the clouds in the trees, I thought I was in heaven. Victoria is the capital of British Columbia, and this is the capital building at night. Top of our cruise ship. Saw Santana vs King Felix at Safeco. Beautiful park. If you click on the picture on photobucket, it'll make it it's max in size so it's not all crunched up.
  5. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 19, 2008 -> 09:34 PM) No, but I've been there. And it is the epitome of awesome. No hustle and bustle, beautiful scenery, and if you live in the southern part of the state (such as Anchorage), you can experience the beauty of Alaska as well as the "city-life." Job opportunities aren't exactly booming, and the financial aspect of it isn't great unless your in certain careers, but overall, its incredible. Well good, because I've been there as well. Last year my parents and I did one of those cruises and we hit Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway, and Victoria Canada. In 1 or 2 years I'd love to live in Juneau.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 19, 2008 -> 08:05 PM) Yes, but giving up Salome as the "other player" would be quite a lot for two players who aren't exactly impact players. Salome is the 2nd best catching prospect in baseball, according to some. I see the difference now. And yeah, I'm familiar with Salome. I got to see him play in April.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 19, 2008 -> 08:03 PM) Rumor out there of Salome and Ford for Taschner and Durham. If you look at the first post, they mentioned that.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 19, 2008 -> 07:56 PM) Dye got hit by a pitch on the outside part of his left knee. Oh boy. Did he look OK?
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 19, 2008 -> 08:54 PM) Terrible ending with Dye there to a terrible game. What happened?
  10. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 19, 2008 -> 12:10 PM) Alaska /thread Are you from Alaska?
  11. I'd love to see them deal for a guy like Fuents or just a smaller market RP not a lot of people know about, like say Ron Mahay from KC who has a 1.8 ERA or Damaso from Pittsburgh who has a 3.2 ERA.
  12. QUOTE (chisoxt @ Jul 19, 2008 -> 07:42 PM) Something tells me that there is a plane ticket to Charlotte with Adam Russell's name on it waiting for him in the clubhouse. If they aren't going to use Linebrink, we may as well send him down.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 19, 2008 -> 08:26 PM) If the Twins continue to win 75 pct of their games, it's just a matter of time before they're in first place. Right now, you just have to tip your cap to them. The Sox's bullpen, starters, and defense is killing them right now. Fair enough. All I wanted was an answer. Finally I got one. I didn't need a couple smart remarks.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 19, 2008 -> 07:18 PM) Nope, but feel free to start a thread about it. A chance to be out of 1st, a chance to lose 2/3 to the awful Royals, and then the Rangers come to town, and knowing our luck, they'll score 3 tomorrow only to come here for Mon.-Wed. and score 43 runs in 3 games.
  15. And Minnesota just blows the balls out of the best offense ever when we played them.
  16. Does anybody get the sense that tomorrow is a must win now?
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 19, 2008 -> 03:59 PM) Paulie, Fields and Broadway for Ichiro? Paulie is only 32. If you were the M's GM, would you take a 32 year old who has had issues in the field and at the plate, a good prospect but strikes out a ton, and a guy who has struggled a ton in AAA? Come on.
  18. Just got home. It was pretty cool- guys like Ladd, Burish, and Barker were just walking around and so it was fun to talk to them guys.
  19. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 10:31 PM) It is what it is. LOL I never said "my statement is a statement". He said I took it personally and all I said was that I didn't and that I was just explaining why I said "THIS.TEAM.IS.DEAD".
  20. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 11:26 PM) I knew that your statement was a statement. It just seemed so over-the-top and memorable that it deserved parody/ribbing.
  21. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 10:21 PM) lol what's he supposed to say in response to a question like that? "Nah we're not that good, I think we're an 8-8 team at best" It trips me out when people laugh at NFL players who say they believe in their teammates and that their team is good. As far as we know from that quote I posted, nobody asked him a question, maybe he just came out and said it. You can believe in your team without saying you're going to the Super Bowl. Instead, you can say something like "I think we have a group of talented guy, our defense is great, and I think we can prove the critics wrong".
