  1. Who's system is Che-Hsuan Lin in? Burgeious (sp?) will be the Sox RF'er when Dye's contract is up in what, 1-3 years?
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 05:42 PM) If I was ever lucky enough to hit a walk off homer off KRod, I would relish it and show him up as much as possible. How he acted today was very bush league. I'd do this plus another 20 seconds.
  3. I guess you're right. If the Sox would have won today, though, it would have been perfect: kept Detroit their distance but would have put Minny back another game, and then the Brewers and Cards won while the Cubs lost. The bright side, though, is that we're 2 up at the break and we should sweep KC at home and should win 2/3 from Texas at home (knowing how well we play at home). That could be a good 3-5 games up going to Detroit, and even there we should win 2/3. I'd take a split in Minnesota, although knowing we'll have Contreras, Buehrle, Floyd, and Danks going, that could be 3/4 for us.
  4. That Brewers game I was at. Next time a 285+ pounder steals a base and a 290+ pound pitcher hits a HR and you're at the game, post it here. Sabathia was incredible on the hill.
  5. QUOTE (SoxPride56 @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 05:32 PM) I am so sick of Konerko, he f***ing sucks!!!!! Agreed. Sure, he'll go out and go 3-5 Friday and everyone will come in here and say how good he is and how he still has it. No, he doesn't. He can't field and he can't hit (see: swings at a pitch not close, then takes strike 3 right there). Contreras, sucks too. They only problem, we couldn't get a bag of baseballs for him. Maybe he should take those stupid sleeves off- it's 100 degrees out, dope. Learn how to pitch effectively while you're at it. Don't blame it on the loss of Pablo, either. The offense scored 11 runs, but in the end we left what, 14 guys on? What a crock. Boone Logan is struggling lately, too.
  6. BTW- I was reading my updates on my phone and it said "Hall hits for Pierzynski". What happened to AJ in the 4th?
  7. Just got home from the race. Good to see us get a W. THIS.TEAM.IS.DEAD was the comment I made because after yesterday, it was the most boring, most least-enthused they've looked out there all year.
  8. QUOTE (rangercal @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 12:18 PM) Go back to Wrigley He has a point. We don't exactly have Carlos Zambrano going for us tomorrow.
  9. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 12:04 AM) As usual, you're the first to declare this team is horrible. The act is getting a bit old. I never said we're horrible. Right now, we look dead. I hope to God they come out and kick the hell out of Texas tomorrow.
  10. QUOTE (gosox41 @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 10:45 PM) Based on your statement, should KW back up the truck and unload the veterans for prospects? Yeah. Seriously, I thought KW was nuts for not dumping guys like PK, Dye, Crede, Uribe, etc. last year. He obviously knew something. I'll never doubt him again. But for the last 4 days, we've been playing like crap. Luckily, we were playing KC and we came out of there with 2 wins.
  11. QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 10:35 PM) This is the first time I've ever seen the Sox lose two games in a row, too. Serious? I guess all I need is a couple days off from this team, like Konerko. I'm going to get my wish, too- tomorrow I'll be at the race in Joliet and Sunday I'm going to see CC.
  12. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 09:01 PM) im not saying we looked stellar...we looked poor, but we looked poor because we walked guys made mistakes in the field and played poor baseball all around, which is why we lost.... its not some sort of "dead" attitude that is causing us to play poor baseball and thus lose....its poor baseball causing us to lose and thus look dead Isn't that usually how it works? We looked like Roger Clemens was on the mound yesterday, and tonight it seemed like freaking Nolan Ryan was out there. After we got down 4-1 yesterday, it seemed like the strategy in the 9th was "get out as soon as you can so we can go out and throw a few back" and today it looked the same.
  13. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 08:57 PM) instead of saying this team is dead after every single loss...do people ever stop and consider that maybe its losing that makes a team look dead, and not the other way around? You're right. We looked very stellar from yesterday, to the get-go today, to the end.
  14. Tried to hit it 740 feet. He hit it hard, but not that hard. Ballgame.
  15. "Outside egde of the outside corner" my a**. That ball was right there.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 08:48 PM) I believe if he avoids the DL, Thome will lead the White Sox in homers this season. He might 5 in our 6 after the ASB if he stays hot. OH YAY, HERE COMES BABE RUTH!!!!!!!!111111111!!!!!!!!! Here comes The Homeless Man out of the dugout to get Guardado.
  17. First 2 guys walk only for the next 2 to try to hit it to Oklahoma. What a pile of s*** this is.
  18. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 08:39 PM) here comes a guy with a NINE ERA - can we just open a can of whoop ass, please? Good grief, is this Bartolo Colon Jr.?
  19. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 08:30 PM) If there's one idea which has been cemented in my mind from years of Sociology courses, it's winning the lottery will ruin your life unless you go to great lengths to hide your identity. Money changes everything -- particularly the relationship among family and friends. This isn't the place to discuss the topic, but all I can recommend for anyone who wins the lottery is to pay a substantial amount of money to secure your assets, hire a special FX company to disguise your identity at the press conference, and NEVER reveal your name. Ask the Whitetaker character whom won one of the largest lottery totals in US history how fame has changed his life. His grand daughter was killed because of the extravagant allowances he gave to her, which she -- in part -- spent on drugs. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 08:34 PM) If I ever won a big lottery, which I probably never will since I don't play, I would never have my name released or make one of those appearances with the big check. I would probably tell my parents and sister after everything has settled down and help them out with some stuff, than live off interest and not go over board with it. I would tell my parents to keep it a secret if they could. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 08:37 PM) get into chat I posted a thread in the SLAM section of the site about this. No need to clog up the gamethread. Talk to ya there!
  20. worth 300M, what would you do at first to make sure nobody knew who you were, and what would you buy? Thought about this while posting in the gamethread today. I'll share mine a little later.
