  1. This OL is a bad run blocking group. Pitiful. Forte has no holes. Orton is starting to blossom. He is confident and is making throws. Hopefully this isn't a jinx, but even if it is, so be it. He has looked good.
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 11, 2008 -> 07:38 PM) Skille's tempo is ridiculous. If he plays like this all year, watch out. NOTE: The Hawks are still a bad faceoff team. This is going to hurt us this year. When they let Perreault just walk away, I knew it was going to hurt. He is arguably the best faceoff guy ever, and we could definitley use him. Oh well. Need a win Monday.
  3. Missouri lost. Wow, what a day in college football. Florida puts up 51+ on LSU.
  4. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Oct 11, 2008 -> 09:29 AM) I am on your mindset. Why overpay for a second baseman when Getz seems like he can be a very solid right away in all facets of the game. Why now get a top 3rd baseman or CF via FA/trade so that the lineup become balanced. I am very confident that Getz can hit .280 right away. I love Getz, too. Then, in your terms, you want us to get a 3B, re-sign Uribe for a super bench player, and then trade for a CF'er with speed, OBP ability, and good fielding? I wouldn't mind that. But again, who's a CF'er out there for us? If we get Beltre, we will use most prospects on him, unfortunately.
  5. Dubinsky is the most underrated young stud in hockey. All the attention goes to guys like Price, Ovechkin, Malkin, Crosby, Kane, Toews, Mike Green, etc., yet Dubinsky is ridiculously good. Huet looked awful tonight. Hopefully it was first game with a new team jitters.
  6. Hell on my boss for making me work tonight, tomorrow night, and Monday night.
  7. Maybe on the diamond, wite, but AJ isn't an a**hole off of it. He happens to be the only guy on the team when I went to KC who interacted with the fans and took several minutes to sign autographs. Wassermann wouldn't even sign a little kid's hat for crying out loud. I've also met him on a few occasions off the field and he was a great guy. He's just your average adult who still likes to have fun in life and act like he's in high school, like a poor man's Manny.
  8. QUOTE (danman31 @ Oct 9, 2008 -> 09:59 PM) I'll be pleasantly surprised if this Bulls team makes the playoffs. I want to vomit at the site of that roster. Derrick Rose isn't a legit starter this season. Larry Hughes and Ben Gordon will be counted on to be the starting 2 guards. Tyrus Thomas or Joakim Noah will have to start. Ugh. They have a bunch of mediocre players. Someone is going to have to get a lot better. I know the East isn't that great, but I don't see the Bulls being that good. Right now, I think the Bulls 3 best players are Thomas, Deng, and Noah (despite what he looks like and acts like). Noah is a 10-10 guy every night, it looks like Tyrus really did improve his jumper and he looks like a 14-8 guy, and Deng is Deng- he'll get his 17-7 every night.
  9. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 9, 2008 -> 10:37 PM) I'll take Los Angeles, San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, New Orleans, Utah, Phoenix, Denver, Portland, and Golden State over that group. Easily. Actually, I think Portland will be in the playoffs over Golden State and Denver, and I wonder how Phoenix will do without D'Antoni, but the West is the loaded and superior conference, as always. But the East is getting closer and better. IMO, Phoenix will struggle in the new system, Dallas always has tons of hype never lives up to it, GS still has no defense, Houston always chokes (although, I think they'll be the 3 in the West this year with Artest), and Denver isn't very good.
  10. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Oct 9, 2008 -> 09:21 PM) Realistically I think Oakland, Texas, Seattle, Houston, Philly, St. Louis, Baltimore, and Toronto are better fits for Fields, with Baltimore, Seattle, and Oakland being the absolute best fits. Baltimore has Roberts, Seattle has Beltre, and Oakland has pitching. I have no problem dealing Fields for Beltre, Roberts, or any other Type A free agent that will likely decline arbitration. I'll take the draft picks and one year of a much better player. There is no way Seattle takes Fields for Beltre straight up, and same goes for Baltimore for Roberts. What would be the most anyone here would give up for Beltre? Personally, I'd give up any 2, maybe 3, of our minor leaguers. This is his walk year, I believe, and so hopefully he gets on the HGH again and belts 45. But seriously, I think he'll have a great season. I'd give up Fields, Getz, and MAYBE Richard. What about Looper, Wolf, Od. Perez, or Jamie Moyer as our 5th starter??
  11. In that case, there's really no CF to go after. DeJesus wouldn't be traded to us anyway and McClouth isn't coming here.
  12. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 9, 2008 -> 10:18 PM) 6 turnover in 24 minutes is not good, but that is what pre season if for. Not sure about number of wins. I hope Del Negro doesn't put the ball in Gordon's hands in tight situations like Boylan did last year, but Gordon will help offensively. East is better this year IMO, so I will see after the first handful of real games to see how everyone is used. True that. IMO- the East is better then the West, top to bottom. Boston, Philadelphia, Detroit, Orlando, Toronto, Miami, Atlanta, and Cleveland are all good or great teams.
  13. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 9, 2008 -> 10:21 PM) The Yankees. By far. They are going to go nuts this off-season. I won't be surprised to see them moves both Hughes and Kennedy to get what they want. If I had to guess, I say their rotation next year looks like CC-Lowe-Wang-Joba-Moose. The Cano rumors won't die, and Hudson has been linked to Yanks for quite some time now. With them missing the playoffs, and the new stadium opening up, just sit back and watch. Well, I figured all that. I just wasn't sure who had the better farm. Too bad there's no way KC would trade DeJesus to us.
  14. If the Yankees are really going to go after McClouth hard, and us the fans want him, then it comes down to one thing- who has the better prospects?
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 9, 2008 -> 10:06 PM) Forget about Lowe....he's a Boras client. He's good, but he's going to get a ton of money and he's not exactly young. Sounds like he'll end up with the Yankees. Wow, definitley forget he is rep-ed by Boras. s***
  16. Rose looked brutal at the start of the game. It wouldn't surprise me if the Bulls don't even win 35 games this year.
  17. It was great to watch hockey tonight for the first time in 5 months. The Leafs look alright. They're young and they skate pretty well and they're quick. Besides getting beat by Holmstrom, Schenn looks like a good player and will be a great one some day. The Wangs look old and slow. Side note: anyone see the warmups the Sharks have? They have some lighting to make the ice look like water and the players look like sharks when they skate around. Pretty neat.
  18. Despite his problems in the 5th and 6th today, what does everyone think about going after Derek Lowe? I'm not sure what he'd cost, but I'd guess around 2-3 years at 13-15 per year, and I'd definitley make that signing. He is a power sinkerball pitcher which would be great in our park, he's never been on the DL, and every year he gives 200+ innings. Then, go out and trade Javy and whoever for a CF'er, and then sign Roberts or Hudson.
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 9, 2008 -> 04:54 PM) He's the exact type of guy the club needs. High average, high OBP, solid speed. The Sox don't have another guy out there like him. He fits into the "Twins" mold and I'm not about to say we should turn our team into the Twins but there is a major benefit to having a few guys throughout the lineup that can hit for a high average. That high average hitter should be able to hit even the best pitchers and its easier to get a single or basehit off a good pticher than it is a HR so you are increasing your chance at getting that one run across in a "key" situation. I'd love to find a way to get a CF/2B who both could hit around .300 with a .360 OBP and play decent defense. You do that and stick whoever the f*** at 3B and go with Ramirez at SS and I'm loving the lineup. You got enough power between Dye/Thome/Konerko/Quentin. You are right about DeJesus being a potential franchise guy. He's signed to an affordable extension but the Royals could get a bigger "face" in Swisher plus some prospects (maybe Broadway & Anderson or whomever). I just wouldn't give up Poreda or Shelby. I'd even trade Josh FIelds but they would clearly have little use for Fields. Swisher is also very affordable so its not like the Royals would have trouble fitting him into payroll. Brian Roberts?
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 9, 2008 -> 01:26 PM) I'd Imagine they'd do him straight up for Danks + Quentin, maybe with Floyd thrown in. Not all that. But probably: Ramirez + Danks OR Floyd + Jenks + Fields
  21. I doubt Colorado trades Atkins. In the NL West, they can win that division. If they do, it's going to take a lot to get him- Getz, Richard, Poreda, and maybe Fields. I'm not sure if I'd do that.
  22. QUOTE (Baines3 @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 08:25 PM) I would have Josh Fields at 3B. He should have been the third baseman this year. I'd take Uribe over Fields in every category in baseball except power. And with our current team, the last thing we need is more power. If our lineup is: C Pierzynski 1B Konerko 2B Ramirez SS Hardy 3B Beltre LF Quentin CF Who knows? RF Dye DH THome Then we need that CF to be a true leadoff man. Who can that be? David DeJesus- possibly, but he'd cost more then he's worth, and I doubt KC gives him to us. Nate McClouth- this would be my choice by that's just me. If we get McClouth, we'd be giving up a lot so a trade for Beltre would be out of the works. I'd love a lineup of, let's say we trade Dye: McClouth Hardy Quentin Thome Konerko Swisher Ramirez Pierzynski Uribe
  23. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 08:24 PM) That career high in OBP came this year. He started seeing more pitches and, after a slow start, hit the s*** out of the ball from June 1 or so and onward. His peripherals are climbing upwards in a year in which pitching made a big time comeback, he hits for a pretty good average, and he has power, as evidenced by his 55+ XBHs the past two seasons. The only thing that concerns me is his defense, as I don't know how good it is, but if Beltre were brought in to play 3B as well, you'd have pretty good range between the 3B and SS. He'd fit right in here!
  24. Why would Milwaukee trade a 29 year old SS in what could be the start of his best years? I mean, sure, I'd love to give them Vazquez, MacDougal, and Fields for him, but I doubt it will happen.
  25. Southpaw is actually a girl and she's the one who catches Thome's HR in that commercial.
