Avi's new swing, video
QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Feb 24, 2016 -> 04:00 PM) 3rd highest walk rate and 4th highest OBP on the team last year. If he could hit for the .175 - .200 ISO like a guy with his size and power should be he would be fine on offense. lol that just says how bad we were as a team last year...

Avi's new swing, video
Considering he has issues pulling the ball, shortening his pre-swing mechanics should be good.

Orioles DO NOT Sign Fowler
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 24, 2016 -> 01:30 PM) So Levine was on the radio and said the Cubs would get the #28 pick, and possibly the #14 pick if the Gallardo deal falls through. How does he have the job he has and not have any idea about the rules? Because the Cubs deserve a comp pick for losing a player they never had!

**2016 Video Game Thread**
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 24, 2016 -> 10:32 AM) Does the Show ever stop letting you download new rosters? I see no reason to buy the new one then. I think they shut the servers down after 2-3 years.

The New Diamond Dyansty will be a lot better as well. The only problem with The Show is that the online gameplay kind of blows, even compared to EA games like FIFA and Madden. Fielder lag is probably the biggest issue. On your screen, it may look like your opponent dropped the ball, when in reality, he caught it. It's pretty annoying.

Best Shape of his Life Thread
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Feb 19, 2016 -> 11:41 AM) Even if this new approach somehow works and he improves his hitting, his defense and baserunning will still be atrocious, and we'll still want to upgrade RF. It'll be a lot easier to stomach his bad defense if he gives you a wRC+ above 110.

Best Shape of his Life Thread
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 19, 2016 -> 10:57 AM) I agree, it's mostly between the ears with him (though getting in better shape certainly shouldn't hurt). He just seems unable to grasp or stick with the adjustments I know the club is asking him to make at the plate. And I think he's got generally poor baseball instincts. Those are hard things to fix. I find it kinda ironic that he used to be called Little Miggy. Yeah, he kinda looks like Miguel Cabrera, but he's the exact opposite in terms of talent. Miggy's issue is that he's not very athletic due to his frame. But his baseball instincts, especially at the plate, are some of the best in the majors. Meanwhile, you have a real athletic player in Avi who has really poor baseball instincts and pitch selection.

I don't think his physical shape matters. It's his mental shape that does. Until he learns not to swing at balls and takes better routes in the OF, he won't be able to utilize all of his talent.

2016-2017 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 19, 2016 -> 10:52 AM) Rappaport also reporting that the Bears are moving on from Marty. Again, I find this absolutely foolish. We have little talent and have a major need to infuse other positions, yet we are going to create another need. Unless we can get real value in trade, it just doesn't make sense to me. Miller's health is a huge question. We better go get a cheaper pass catching TE if we let Bennett go.

All New Soccer Thread ~ All Levels ~ All Leagues
QUOTE (danman31 @ Feb 18, 2016 -> 10:02 PM) It's not the same thing, but it was definitely exciting. I love this Leicester team, both in strategy and the story. Watching them press so efficiently is a special thing to witness. They were driving Arsenal crazy before the red card. Arsenal was never comfortable on the ball. Still, that Man City finish is truly unbelievable. Throw in the rivalry dynamic, that Man U was top of the table when they finished their match only to see Man City score after the United game was over and that Man City hadn't won a title in forever. The whole season of Leicester is better if they win, but that finish was truly remarkable. I don't think you can top the finish to that season. What was funny was that QPR fans celebrated with City fans afterwards since they had just learned QPR would stay up in the BPL seconds before Aguero scored the winning goal.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 18, 2016 -> 01:20 PM) According to Hoopsrumors, the Kings are high on Tony Snell. They are high alright. They must have watched the few select games where he actually played really well and not the other games where he's mediocre at best.

QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Feb 18, 2016 -> 10:19 AM) Please no Okafor, just no. He's a volume player, empty carbs. Puts up numbers, but not gonna help you win, especially in today's NBA. I agree, but the guy's still a rookie. If you can turn Niko, Gasol, and Snell into Okafor, that'd be one hell of a trade.

USA Today 2016 season predicitions
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Feb 15, 2016 -> 11:27 AM) Yeah, 90 wins means we hit our ZiPs projections AND some. And those are about as rosy as they are going to get. Well considering zips projections are the 50 percentile, we'd probably need our players to produce 15-20% above their projections.

Music and more Music
I didn't think Kanye can get any lazier with his album art after Yeezus and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, but he managed to top himself with the cover for The Life of Pablo. Did someone make that s*** in Paint 20 minutes before they released the stream?

White Sox interested in SS Ian Desmond
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 11, 2016 -> 02:42 PM) .674 OPS last year, right? He had a bad first half, but his second half was solid. Even with that, he had an average season. He's usually a 3-4 WAR guy.

White Sox Sign Mat Latos
QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Feb 11, 2016 -> 10:21 AM) They must've been a global change. At first I thought they just kept the pants, but those are road pants, at Marlins Park. He didn't pitch in Miami after the trade to the Dodgers...unless this is from another year. They probably just made the white pants gray.

**2016 Video Game Thread**
QUOTE (danman31 @ Feb 9, 2016 -> 08:22 PM) You actually play with big teams? I always start with some League Two team in England and build them up. In year three I'm currently in the Championship with 6 teenagers starting and 10 starters 21 and under. Not even a little bit realistic, but it's fun to play with the kids as they develop. I play with good middle of the pack teams. I've done Wolfsburg and Spurs this year. CM is just something I do when I'm tired of the crap in Ultimate Team. I'm not sure I have the patience or skill to develop 10 young players, maybe 2-3 while the rest of the team is filled with OP players I like from UT.

White Sox Sign Mat Latos
QUOTE (southside hitman @ Feb 10, 2016 -> 02:49 PM) "Eldridge Cleaver: I feel like the White Sox have been trying to go from 90 losses to 90 wins for a few years now. Have they finally done enough to be in the wild-card discussion? 12:24 Dave Cameron: They still need another outfielder, a shortstop, and preferably one more starter. They’re up to .500ish, but they shouldn’t be done yet." I was taken aback by the starter comment. Unless he believes Sox should just cut Danks, acquiring another starter makes no sense. Yeah...we just got one.
