  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 7, 2014 -> 11:36 AM) Was battery improved? I've gotten 5.5 hours of screen-on-time on this thing. Lasts the whole day easily.
  2. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 11:32 AM) Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale 35s35 seconds ago The #Royals have their Power hitter in Kendrys Morales, who comes at $17 million over 2 years, $13 million cheaper than Billly Butler lol A guy with almost -2 WAR last season in only 400 PA just got $8.5 million a year. That's like giving Adam Dunn that much money. Hell, I bet if Dunn comes out of retirement, he can out-hit Morales next year.
  3. When I first read this, I thought the thread title said Desmond Jennings. I got really excited for a second.
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 11:06 AM) Don't know much about him. ERA, strong k numbers, not so great WHIP. In general though, would appear to be an upgrade, especially since it appeared Rienzo wasn't going to be a good long-term fit. Like the fact that Jennings is cheap / cost controlled. It looks like he gets hit quite a bit. Lefties hit .291 off him last year. Yet he still had a ERA below 2. His strand rate was 88%, which tells me he's really good at getting high leverage outs, or he got lucky as hell.
  5. I like it. Rienzo had no real future on this team. Jennings can be used as a 6th and 7th inning guy along with Guerra. He's also left-handed. I wouldn't be surprised if he out-performed Zach Duke. He also has reverse-splits...so I'm not sure what to exactly make of that.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 08:07 PM) Can you imagine if we got Masterson? We might have the best rotation in Sox history, OK modern Sox history. Sale, Q, Samardja, Masterson (if he rebounds), Danks (if he continues to rebound). All those other guys in the bullpen? Robin could have some amazing options. For someone who loves that 05 team so much, you really forgot about that pitching staff... And Masterson would not make this rotation that much better. If he bounces back, sure, but the issues he had last year were very alarming. Decrease in velocity, bad control, just being bad in general.
  7. There's one thing I do know, Alfredo Simon is worse than his ERA indicates.
  8. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 09:55 AM) Marlins and Reds making progress on Latos. Tigers going after Leake or Cueto? Do they have the pieces to get Cueto...?
  9. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 12:25 AM) I can't believe Mccarthy got $12M a year for four years Seems about right. Liriano got 3 and $39 million. McCarthy had a pretty damn good season.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 08:43 PM) I have, but I try not to get too sucked into it because I refuse to give them extra money for it. I get some free packs for my pre-order bonuses and eventually give up on it. It always seems to play differently than the regular FIFA modes. I can't put my finger on why, I think it has to do with the chemistry stuff, but it always feels different. I got sucked into it. Fortunately, I've given exactly $0 to EA on it. I played MUT and spent like $50. Built a pretty good team and then stopped playing once FIFA came out. I bought like $25 worth of coins from some coin sellers, that much gets you around 300,000 coins. I bought Di Maria and some of the more expensive players with it and my team is now actually good. It'll cost you something like $100 to buy the coins to get someone like Ronaldo or Messi. It's pretty damn crazy if you think about it.
  11. Is Kendrick really worth a top 30 prospect like Heaney? He only has one year left on his contract and it's not like he's going to be cheaper than Dee Gordon.
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 04:08 PM) Jimmy Rollins is the Dodgers SS Meh. It's only for one more year (option year), so I guess it should work out fine for LA. I don't know how many more years Rollins can hold up at SS.
  13. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 03:43 PM) Cubs are down to 10-1 in Vegas, which is lol worthy. At best, this Cubs team might win 85 games. I don't remember the last time a team counted on 3-4 rookies (no matter how good of prospects they are) to make the playoffs. I feel Soler is legit and can contribute immediately, but guys like Bryant, Alcantara, and Baez are all big power hitters who miss the ball a lot. Those guys are going to struggle massively early on in their careers. To expect even 2 of them to give the Cubs positive, let alone average ML value next season is a pipe dream.
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 02:28 PM) So the Knicks are absolutely terrible, and they all hate each other, and Melo wants to beat up Tim Hardaway because he shoots too much and doesnt play much defense, which the rest of the team also accuses Melo of(irony alert) full disclosure, this post is chock full o'SAUCES!!!! http://deadspin.com/report-the-knicks-all-...ther-1669314378 I'm loving this. This is what you get for chasing money Melo. Thinking that Knicks roster would amount to anything is ridiculous. With Butler playing the way he is, I'm almost glad he didn't sign with the Bulls.
  15. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 01:40 PM) Consider that based on "that stat" Joe Maddon isn't listed in either top-5 but Rick Renteria is... That stat is also a very incomplete way to look at the impact of a manager. Pythagorean W-L has value as a stat, but I feel like it's way to simplistic to say that the manager is purely responsible for whether a team over or under-achieved based on how many runs they scored and gave up.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 10:42 AM) Joe Maddon can, and anyone who replaces Robin Ventura adds a lot more than that. I'm one of the first people to tell you that a good manager can make a big difference in a team, but 16 wins is, like I said, completely asinine. Lineup optimization adds something like 1.5-2 wins over 162 games and that's one of the manager's biggest roles on a team. I haven't seen the numbers on bullpen management, but I'm pretty damn positive it's not at 14.5 wins.
  17. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 10:47 AM) Wasn't Noesi's line with just the White Sox much better overall? I seem to remember a third of a run difference in his overall ERA and his White Sox only ERA. His ERA was 4.39. But his FIP was around 4.7. In other words, he wasn't that good. As a 5th starter, he's acceptable, but if you want to be a contender, you need to have arms better than him and Danks as your 4 and 5.
  18. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 10:15 AM) ESPN just told me that Joe Maddon is worth 16 wins to the Cubs, yup. No manager can add 16 wins to a team. It's asinine.
  19. Hopefully it won't be a long deal. I'm still not sold on Volquez's season last year. Career low in BABIP at .263. K/BB rates were very average.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 01:24 AM) They don't have room, but they are going to sign Gomes and Ross it sounds like. Gomes on the Cubs will only make me hate him more.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 01:09 AM) Max will get way more With Lester off the market, I can see how that would be to Scherzer's advantage, but if you're a team looking to sign a big name starter, is Scherzer that much of a better option than Lester? Lester was actually better last year and if you ask me, his mechanics are a lot cleaner, meaning he should be able to actually maintain his form for the majority of his contract. I'm not sure if I can say the same for Scherzer.
  22. I wonder what kind of contract Shields will get. We all know Scherzer will get similar, if not more, money than Lester.
  23. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 05:09 PM) Ha Dennis Rodman bashing the Knicks... "I learned that in probably 15 minutes when I was in Chicago," Rodman said. "It's not that difficult. It's a triangle." And Dennis is not a smart man.
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 12:41 AM) Ethier/Kemp/Crawford/Van Slyke Rasmus Morse (that would be the equivalent of Viciedo, or worse) Aoki Melky Cabrera Jay Bruce Alex Rios (haha) Snider/Lambo Parra Carlos Gonzalez/Dickerson/Blackmon I like Van Slyke. He's been such a good hitter for LA the past few years in limited time. Not sure why LA would trade him though. He's cheap and a great 4th OFer that can probably start on a lot of other teams.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 01:54 PM) MLB Trade Rumors ‏@mlbtraderumors 13m13 minutes ago Tigers Focused On Retaining Max Scherzer http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/?p=44711 Yes, keep spending ludicrous amounts of money Ilitch.
