  1. Good signing for the Angels. Their rotation is actually interesting next year. Jose Suarez and Patrick Sandoval were both good last year.
  2. I'm surprised Eovaldi didn't take it coming off a pretty bad season with arm issues.
  3. Winker is somehow worse than Eloy defensively.
  4. Jansen and Taylor Rodgers probably get good money on their deals, but the drop off after them is huge. Is anyone really gonna pay Kimbrel a multi-year deal? Chapman? Those guys are both older and coming off terrible years.
  5. Grandal's issue isn't that he wasn't getting singles that he should have gotten, his issue was that he was no longer hitting the ball with any real authority. Getting 10 more singles would have made him a .230 hitter last year with a .300 slugging. That's not worth much of anything.
  6. I get the feeling that premium relievers are gonna cost a lot because of the lack of them in free agency. So I wouldn't take the deals signed by Diaz, Montero, and Suarez as a barometer for future deals at every position. However, I do think left handed bats will end up costing more since they won't get extreme shifted on anymore. That's probably gonna result in a 20-30 point batting average uptick for most left handed hitters out there.
  7. Lowe's hard hit % went down last year. But his exit velocity and launch angle remained steady. It's very likely Lowe's back injury was bothering him before he went out for the season. He didn't need surgery, so that might be a good sign.
  8. If it's non-rule 5 guys the Rays are looking for, I don't think the Sox have a whole lot to offer for Lowe. Colas or Vera would make sense in those situations.
  9. Lowe for Crochet works out pretty well value-wise. Lowe is under control until 2024 with 2 club options for 25 and 26. It's an incredibly team friendly contract for a guy who's been a 4 WAR player. This is probably a great time to buy low. Even if he performed at the level he did last year, he was probably still a 2.5 WAR player last season if healthy and that's well worth the $4 million he will make over the next 2 years.
  10. God empty OBP is right. The guy is so slow that it takes 3 singles to score him.
  11. If Yaz could get back on the juice and give us at least half a season's worth of good production before he gets caught, that'd be great.
  12. Hendriks is definitely tradeable. Graveman too if you just want to salary dump him.
  13. Yeah I haven't forgotten how much Sean Murphy fucked us in a span of 5 months.
  14. A $1 million gamble on a guy like that is well worth it. If he sucks, it's $1 million. Meanwhile, Kelly sucked and we paid him $8x that last year and we'll have to pay him another $8 million again this year.
  15. I'd imagine the A's would want Vaughn and Montgomery for Murphy. If you're gonna trade those 2 away you might as well get someone like Reynolds. I can also see this as the Sox trying to drive up the price for Cleveland. The Guardians were in on Murphy at the trade deadline last year. Cleveland may not have money, but they have a ton of prospects to trade from.
  16. Sox really should go after this guy, but we all know Jerry is too loyal
  17. Heyman also thought Abreu would get 3 and 75. All the projections there seemed off.
  18. It'll probably end up closer to $120 than $100. Especially if Cohen just decides he doesn't care about the luxury tax.
  19. They did offer Giolito an extension. It was like 4 years and $50 million right before 2021.
  20. It's not just the money, it's also the years. Nimmo's contract probably ends up around 5 years and $100-120 million. You really think JR is gonna pay that?
  21. Yeah, I'm not sure how the Giants see him as worth $20 million a year.
  22. The bottom 4 players should all take it.
  23. Can we do better for $10 million? I'm guessing no, but we're probably gonna lose him after this year anyhow. Might not be a bad idea to trade now while he still has some trade value.
  24. I don't think Bowden realizes we have never, ever, given out a contract above $100 million. Bowden has to be living in 1996 or something. That was when the Sox made their last big FA splash with Albert Belle. And JR only did that because he wanted to get back at other owners.
  25. Was Jim Bowden worse as a GM or as a baseball commentator?
