  1. More pulled fly balls and less fly balls to the warning track in CF will greatly help this offense.
  2. The guy worked with 2 players who couldn't untap their power potential and they both ended up hitting 48 homers after. I don't think that's some sort of coincidence.
  3. Phillies are gonna get no hit
  4. lol damn MLBTR just gave Northbrook Bob credit.
  5. So the opposite of Miguel Cairo. As we saw with Cairo, him being loud worked for a little bit. But when the going got tough, the team quit on him.
  6. All I remember about Claypool was him celebrating a first down while the clock was ticking during the last 45 seconds of a close game last year. They ended up losing 15 seconds on the clock because of it and ran out of time.
  7. This feels like an overpay to fix the trash Velus Jones pick.
  8. Looks like Griftol has been in the mix for every managerial job at all levels of baseball
  9. FanGraphs had them at half a WAR. Either way, absolutely awful.
  10. I got offered that in Chicago about 10 years ago as someone fresh out of college. I'd imagine the pay is way better now. I was more or less referring working on the west coast (Bay Area/Seattle) where starting salaries out there are easily 100k+. Chicago is cheaper, but 65k is still low even when you factor in cost of living.
  11. Moncada and Grandal were the biggest problems last year. They put together maybe 1 WAR last year when the projections expected 7-8 out of them. That's a 7 win difference alone right there.
  12. That is painfully low unless they're asking for entry level people. Even then, that's like half of what people can make out of college these days in the software industry.
  13. Are these guys wetbutt23 and katyperrysbootyhole?
  14. Not a bad guy to have around for a first time manager. He lost the clubhouse in Toronto, but he won't have to worry about that as bench coach.
  15. Kenny's been harping on the lack of minority hires in baseball. Bob including that last part makes me think this was also KW's choice. Not Hahn's alone.
  16. All the leaks about the Sox hiring former players or retreads worked. I am relieved it wasn't them even though this Griftol hire would have been very meh to me had you told me this would have been the result of the managerial search a month ago.
  17. Katz is the only guy who deserves to keep his job. McEwing sucks. Menechino sucks even more.
  18. As long as he is on board with analytics, I'm on board, cause I don't think we've had a manager that has ever embraced analytics. Hopefully he can navigate the toxic clubhouse politics we seem to have on the team. Maybe him being Latino can help win over all the Cubans on the team. I would have liked Espada, who has been on winning teams, but thank god it wasn't Ozzie, Jim Thome, or Chris Getz.
  19. Moncada would get destroyed by the media in NYC. If we think Sox fans criticize Yoan for being lazy or looking disinterested, wait till Yankees fans get to watch him all year.
