  1. We already have an $83 million obligation towards next season. So KW and Hahn need to get creative.
  2. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 04:47 PM) He's significantly better at drawing a walk than Alexei. Not sure if that is because his eye is so much better or if pitchers are just less afraid to attack Alexei. I also think that Alexei puts balls in play at a higher rate than Dayan, but I'm not sure. And Alexei flies out...
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 04:46 PM) I don't think any teams would trade for Rios even if we give him away. I think that contract keeps him with the Sox like Soriano with the Cubs. Alex coulda hit .350 and nobody would have bitten this offseason I think. Rios has something like 2 years and $25 million left. That's pretty affordable for a guy who just had an all-star type season.
  4. Viciedo walked. It's a freaking miracle.
  5. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 02:51 PM) What would LAA need another OFer for? Or more so, why would they pay that much for another one? Hunter will be a free agent. I doubt they'll just trot Vernon Wells in RF everyday.
  6. QUOTE (whitesox901 @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 01:49 AM) Sox were really goofy that year. Seems like they'd go on the road and go 1-5, then come home and sweep the home stand. Like this year, a lot of things went right, Floyd and Danks had break out seasons, Contreras came back and had a good year (I think that was after his Achilles imploded). The offense was hit and miss, like this year, but everyone bounced back after 2007 where the whole team seemed to slump. In 2007 the bullpen lost , like, 21 games or something, next year the pen was solid (even Linebrink had a good year). Incredible. Contreras tore his Achilles that year because PK was too lazy to take a ball to the bag himself.
  7. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 06:57 PM) I won't be surprised when he's traded. Trade him to Anaheim. Get Bourjos and prospects (not good ones I'd assume) back in return. There's your gold glove CFer and 9th place hitter for cheap.
  8. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 12:44 AM) Anyone wanna talk TVs? LED / Plasma / DLP, Refresh rates, smart TV etc. Doing this research for my family. They're in the market for two TVs, 55" and 60". I personally like the Samsungs, anyone? Samsung and Sharp are both top tier. Vizio I think, gives the best value (at least this was what I thought when I was looking at TVs a year or two ago).
  9. QUOTE (IlliniSox @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 12:01 AM) Hawk and Stoney are two totally different baseball personalities. I wonder how Ed Farmer and Stoney would work together. If Hawk and Wimpy can work together again that would be great, (too young to remember why Wimpy left) but really enjoy it when they work together. Ed Farmer and Stone did work together for a year.
  10. The Samsung Galaxy Note II will have a really cool multi-tasking feature, where you can drag and drop an application to a portion of the screen and use two apps at the same time (much like the Aero Snap feature in Windows, which IMO is one of the best features in Windows). The Galaxy Note 10.1 did this, but it was limited to something like 5 Samsung apps. It appears that the Note II allows any app to do this. There is also a jailbreak iOS app that does something similar called Quasar, but app is a pain in the ass to use since you have to resize the windows yourself (kinda defeats the point). (shown at 2 minute mark).
  11. We should bring Wimpy back for the last 5 games. He's 8-1 this year. We're gonna go 4-1 if we bring him back!
  12. Damn this team. They're giving me hope again. f***.
  13. I'd love to see Rios inflate his numbers this last week so his trade value goes up a little higher. I really like Alex as a player when he's having a good year. But good god, I don't ever want a repeat of 2011. His contract is no longer a huge burden (only two years left I believe) and this has been one of his best years in his career. Hell, he's been one of the better RFers in baseball this year. He should be able to get us some good prospects.
  14. And here comes Nate Jones to walk more guys!
  15. The worst thing with this Sox lineup is that the 5-9 hitters don't have a hint of patience. Just loop at the OBPs... Rios - .330 A.J. - .325 Viciedo - .295 Alexei - .290 Beckham - .295 Our 1-4 has the ability to draw a walk and get on base, but the rest of the lineup never does any of that.
  16. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 11:04 PM) On the bright side, soon I'll be able to use the 7-10pm block to do homework This. Call me a bad fan or whatever, but if this team wasn't going to make it, I'd rather have them get out of it early (as in this week) than have me focused on them until October 3rd.
  17. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 10:12 PM) Score a run? Please? Against Fernando Rodney? With this offense? Yeah right...
  18. Well guys, I'll cya when the regular season is over.
  19. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 09:59 PM) Rays fans must be PISSED They have fans?
  20. I can't tell who's who anymore with all these Rally Crede avatars.
  21. The inability of this team to hit with RISP isn't just on the players. It has to be on the coaching staff as well. All of this is mental and approach-based. It has little to do with luck now. They've been far too awful for this to be bad luck. Whenever this team gets runners on, our hitters just don't know what the f*** to do.
