Yankees Acquire Pineda for Montero
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 08:48 PM) If they can get Pineda for a lesser price in talent than Felix, why not take Pineda? He's cheaper financially and under control for longer. Yes he won't give you the same performance as King Felix, but those are 2 big benefits. Trade for Felix and you can't sign Kuroda, for example. I'm talking about this from Seattle's point of view. IMO, trading Felix makes more sense.

Wow, Bulls might not score 80 points. This is a college basketball score. Pretty weak offense, but great D.

2011-2012 NBA Season Thread
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 09:01 PM) s***, I missed it. Was it similar to the Wade poster or the other one? Other one. This one was two handed and not as impressive, but similar in that he got it off a rebound and flushed it down hard.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 09:01 PM) He could obviously start. But that's a hell of a weapon to bring off the bench. Think Manu with the Spurs. Manu hadn't been starting? This is news to me.

Lucas + Rose isn't a horrible combination, actually. Having a second creator with Rose isn't a bad idea. Lucas is actually a slightly better shooter than Watson.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 08:55 PM) Yeah, um, the Knicks aren't really all that good. Down 30 to the Thunder late in the third quarter. And how unfair is it that a team that features two of the top 10 players in the league can throw the beast that is James Harden at you off the bench? This guy can drop 20 points on your ass in 20 minutes without sweating. Why the hell is he still on the bench?

Yankees Acquire Pineda for Montero
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 11:37 AM) That's the point. For Felix, NOTHING outside of two A prospects and another B+/- prospect will suffice. Who can come up with that? I like the two B's from the Yankees. But that's not enough for me. I want a f***ing Bryce Harper or Mike Trout back for Felix. Yankees can literally offer their entire farm then.

Boozer and Noah have fought over a rebound twice now. Those are just as bad as bad turnovers.

Peavy vs Ozzie
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 08:20 PM) Ouch. Anyone watching Oney's twitter account? I hope he does, it'll be entertaining. Plus, Ozzie's not related to the White Sox anymore, so Oney can go embarrass him and his family all he wants.

2011-2012 NBA Season Thread
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 10:16 AM) The Bulls actually started out 17-1 in 1997. This is true. I underestimated these facts in a short season. You see it in the other conference with the Thunder. They didn't start 17-1 in 1996? Hmm...interesting.

Yankees Acquire Pineda for Montero
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 10:10 AM) I'm pretty sure the Mariners would be quite content with that. Don't get me wrong. I like the deal better for the Yankees. But all the pitching in the world doesn't mean much when 4 runs is considered an explosion by your offense. I'd be a lot more cynical from the M's side if they didn't have three premium pitching 'spects in their inventory. They shouldn't have traded Fister last year. They got nothing special for him. Now their pitching depth is bad.

2011-2012 NBA Season Thread
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 05:56 AM) Reading posts about the Bulls there is no way you would be able to conclude they would be anywhere near 11-2 with their back to back to back out of the way and 9 road games, and without Hamilton most of the time, and without Rose for a game. Some around here, if the truly are Bulls fans, need to quit nitpicking and enjoy. This is the best start the Bulls have gotten off to since the 72 win season. Enough said. Not to mention that there was no training camp or off-season this year. This team just knows how to win. We'll see if that's still the case against the Heat int he playoffs though.

With Kuroda and Pineda to NYY, does EJ for 1-2 years
Why would we want Edwin back if we're going to "rebuild"?

Yankees Acquire Pineda for Montero
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 08:22 AM) I take it you don't know much about Montero. The Yankees indeed paid a steep price. He's a consensus top 10 prospect in baseball (top 3-5 if you don't include pitchers). He doesn't have a position. But his bat is real. The Mariners desperately needed some offensive reinforcements. And they got a real good one. Even if Montero is Miguel Cabrera, it'd be hard-pressed for him to earn his value as a DH. No matter how good of a hitter you are, you'll only be like a 5-6 win player as a DH.

2012 Cuban signees thread Cespedes/Soler/Concepcion
QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 09:45 PM) Signing Cespedes, the hottest free agent OF available, complete with the international hype machine surrounding him would certainly extend attendance interest beyond local Cubans. Most people probably don't know who Cespedes is. More Sox fans probably know about Juan Pierre than him.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 09:43 PM) Has Ronnie earned the right to be in discussion for starting over Rip when he's healthy? Eh, I'd say no. He's been incredibly inconsistent. One night he might score 15 on good shooting. Then he might disappear the next. Rip will at least give you some scoring consistency. Brewer when limited to 20-22 minutes should be good when Rip gets back.
