  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 05:01 PM) Roll over? They suck. The Mariners front-office forgot (or flat-out ignored) that actually scoring runs is a big part of this game we call baseball. They got too carried away with pitching and defense.
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 05:54 PM) I don't want Sabermetrics in my other sports. I'll let you guys stick with it for baseball, but that is it. The problem with basketball metrics is that they're nowhere near as accurate as the baseball ones, and with all the people who already doubt baseball sabermetrics, they should probably laugh at the basketball ones. Still, I posted that as something interesting to consider, not something to believe.
  3. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 05:38 PM) Jeff Passan is on fire today. Reading his tweets; he's legitimately furious that Infante made the team and then this: Infante could be the worst All-Star pick ever (Rios and Konerko get a mention) Jeff Passan is awesome. If I had to write something about how bad these selections were, I would write what he wrote. He mixed everything in there. I really like his appreciation of sabermetrics.
  4. I've been looking at some advanced basketball metrics...and to my surprise, Carlos Boozer is probably the second best big man out of the big 4 when he is healthy. 2010 Wins Produced/WARP Bosh: 13.5/14 Boozer: 11.3/11.7 Stoudemire: 11.3/10.8 Lee: 6.2/13.2 From this, it seems like Lee's numbers don't exactly match up. WARP and wins produced are two different things, but usually, they do correlate. Anyways, I would doubt that David Lee is almost as good as Chris Bosh.
  5. I wish I had good enough programming skills to create a bot that would do this for me automatically.
  6. Seattle and Tampa both win. This is our chance.
  7. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 01:54 PM) Infante's hitting .353/.400/.412/.812 vs the Phillies this season. There's your explanation. It's a 34 player roster, versatility truly has no place in this game. Sample sizes...man they're a b****.
  8. QUOTE (Sockin @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 02:21 PM) There is none. No wonder, it seems like I've voted 50 times already and it hasn't told me I've done enough.
  9. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 01:35 PM) He probably wont even pitch and if he does 1 inning is not going to kill him. I hope he doesn't.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 01:32 PM) I still wouldn't stress about it. I'm sure he's thrilled to make the team and I doubt these guys are firing fastballs all week leading to the game. They probably aren't. But we have a huge series with Minnesota following the break and we need Thornton to be well rested.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 01:28 PM) I wouldn't worry about that. Cal Ripken could have used the days off all those years and it didn't bother him. This puts pressure on the Sox to make Thornton the full time closer doesn't it? Baseball is proclaiming him more important/impressive than Jenks. Didn't they expand the rosters big-time a few years ago? Even with that Rios/Paulie get snubbed? Cal Ripken wasn't a pitcher who threw 97 MPH and had to get fluid drained from his pitching elbow.
  12. You can post this stuff on Facebook after you vote, pretty cool. Spread the word to all your family and friends.
  13. All I know is that I'm voting for Votto and Konerko.
  14. QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 12:54 PM) hmmm..... Hmmm....
  15. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 12:47 PM) How does WWW = LBJ staying in Cleveland? I don't see how A = B here. How do we know that WWW was ever really apart of the inner circle? WWW's importance always seemed like more of a creation of the media than anything else to me. I don't see it either.
  16. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 12:49 PM) Alex Rios is far more deserving than Torii Hunter and Vernon Wells. Hunter isn't that terrible of a selection, but Wells has no business on the team. John Buck is the reserve catcher? Seriously!?!?!? Is Mauer the only good catcher in the whole AL? Those two are actually the exact same player. Both at 2.4 WAR. Both hitting relatively similar, both used to be good at defense, and both are overpaid.
  17. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 12:41 PM) I just voted as much as I could for now for PK. I know were up against Yankee fans and Red Sox fans. We did it for Pods and we did it for AJ. We can do it again for Paulie. Who cares who were competing against. This team deserves at least two all-stars, that much I do know.
  18. Out of everyone, why did they have to take Thornton? He's the guy who could really use the 3 days of rest, along with Rios. Couldn't they have taken Konerko...?
  19. We really need to win this game and make this a .500 road trip.
  20. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 12:26 PM) http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...sp&c_id=mlb The NL Player Ballot seems reasonable, but the players in the AL are just as f***ing dumb as the fans. And Charlie Manuel is an idiot. I'd figure retarded selections from JERRY Manuel, but not Charlie. Girardi didn't build the best team either.
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 12:14 PM) Beltre not making it is just as bad, IMO. That dude has been spectacular. He did make it.
  22. Vote Paulie in. This is embarrassing. Thornton deserves it, but not picking Rios just makes this seem extremely stupid.
  23. Anybody see the NL reserves? Three letters: lol No Joey Votto or Andrew McCutchen, but we do have Omar Infante, Evan Meek, and Michael Bourn... Yes, you saw it right, Omar freakin' Infante, who has a .320 wOBA and isn't even a regular starter on his own team.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 10:14 PM) I don't know if anyone else heard the radio version of tonight, but apparently TCQ has a sore elbow, which is why he didn't start tonight. Probably from getting hit last night.
  25. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 09:46 PM) Have you ever watched a game we lost and not blamed the manager? That is all. You wanted CQ to pinch hit in the seventh inning as I recall didn't you? yeah we should pinch hit for everybody. Our lineup sucks. Is it that hard to fathom?? We lose. Ozzie sucks. On to the next game where maybe we win and Ozzie that day only sucks a little. Well, he's part of the reason why it sucks.
