  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 6, 2010 -> 09:25 AM) The two games I followed on-line, most of his fastballs were 90-92. Maybe they were two seam sinkers, not sure what was up, but before all of his injuries, when he first came up with Seattle, he was at 94-98 consistently. I never have once said anywhere at SoxTalk that Rauch was even a "good" closer. Where did that come from? Yes, Soriano, if healthy, is much better than Rauch. The question has always been about his durability. I've also seen those three adjectives used to describe Jon Adkins, Arnie Munoz's curveball, Gio's curveball, Felix Diaz, Lorenzo Barcelo, Nick Masset, Sisco, etc. Soriano's avg fastball velocity is 93.3 this year. It was 93.3 last year and it's on par with what he did when he started his career with Seattle.
  2. Dye is about twice as bad as Carlos out in RF.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 5, 2010 -> 12:55 PM) Really? I think he meant up to that point.
  4. CSN+2 reminds me of ESPN 8: The Ocho. xD
  5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 4, 2010 -> 10:01 PM) Clayton, um, Kershaw? Is that you? Gavin Floyd's left handed twin brother does even worse than Floyd. This is new.
  6. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 4, 2010 -> 10:04 PM) 9 run second for the Brewers chases Clayton Kershaw from the game, his final line: 1.1 IP, 5H, 7ER, 2BB, 3K. His ERA now stands at 4.99 (3.07 coming into today), WHIP of 1.70, 24 BB in 30.2 IP. FML... I have him on my fantasy team.
  7. There's your ballgame.
  8. Oh come on A.J. You could have gotten him had you not double clutched.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ May 4, 2010 -> 08:48 PM) That was a routine double play ball. Now you sound like jphat circa 2005. Routine ones are hit a little slower. That ball seemed like it was hit pretty hard.
  10. Today might just be one of those days where you get a lot of at'em balls. Rios has had two already.
  11. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ May 4, 2010 -> 08:43 PM) Hahaha that is a truly bizarre thing to say. I have my TV muted (stupid organic chemistry tests...); why did he say that? He was talking about how the KC bullpen was bad. What Hawk says makes absolutely no sense to me most of the time.
  12. Come on Alex, you gotta come through here.
  13. Andruw's having an off night. He just missed that one.
  14. That looks like 2009 Gordon Beckham.
  15. Now Gavin's found it.
  16. I think Gavin's having one of those games where he just gets lucky as hell. This happened a lot in 2008.
  17. Looks like Gavin just can't have a easy inning.
  18. It appears that this team either scores on the home run or some kind of an error.
  19. And Gavin gets out of it, wow.
  20. When you can't even get Jason f***ing Kendall out, you deserve to get scored on. Gavin doesn't have it today.
  21. I think I just saw Carlos shaking hands with kids. That's DANGEROUS.
  22. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 4, 2010 -> 06:33 PM) Is that really true? Boston fans are fairly intelligent as far as baseball fans go...they have to realize how terrible he's been...they really would be upset if the team let Ortiz walk? Everybody's calling for his head, that's what I thought. And I don't think Boston fans are all that smart, although considering how much of a fanbase they have, it's not as bad as Cubs fans.
  23. QUOTE (smalls2598 @ May 4, 2010 -> 02:49 PM) Just saw this on Deadspin; it's an excerpt from the book Are We Winning? about the Bartman incident. Thought some of you Cub haters would like to relive that moment.. Deadspin Link That was really good. It made me feel really bad for Bartman and really contrasted him well with the average Wrigley Field fan.
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 4, 2010 -> 03:13 PM) My god. That home run he hit in the Series didn't give you a thrill of a lifetime? I'm glad I'm not a fan who forgets the great moments certain Sox players have provided. I think the fans who did the correct thing and cheered him last night would agree with me. You think Pods should only be popular by association for us winning the title? Are you serious? I was half kidding. Podsednik might be one of the most overrated Sox players of all time by a lot of casual Sox fans (especially women, we all know why). But seriously, we shouldn't be salivating over a guy who hasn't produced over 2 WAR since 2003. I mean come on, we all know Pierre sucks right now (doesn't mean he will for the whole year though), but to keep reminding everybody how great Podsednik is/was is getting old. He was a decent contributor that year and he was part of the reason for the team's large success in the first half. But besides that season and 2009, what has he done for this team? That's what I'd like to ask. If you see all of this when talking about Podsednik, what will people do when Konerko leaves this team this off-season?
