  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 09:27 AM) When did AJ randomly try to hurt people? When he supposedly kneed his trainer back in 04...?
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 09:42 PM) wcsox has been suggesting $20 million/3 years for Konerko. I think that's fair, it doesn't insult it him, it keeps the 2nd most popular Sox player (#1 to 1/3rd) in the fold. However, I do think two years with option/s for the 3rd would be the route I would take at his age, and with the uncertain economic future of the franchise. The long-term deal has turned out to be something of a financial straightjacket for the team, along with Contreras as well. If the minor league guys had to bet, I don't think they'd see Viciedo as being ready in 2011 (yes, the jury's far from out, but premature evaluation is murky at best), and Flowers would have to be converted mid-year or in the AFL to 1B. It's somewhat fair. I don't want him back for 3 more years, the salary amount makes sense.
  3. I have no problem with KW, I have a problem with KW listening to Ozzie. I don't think Ozzie wanted Rios or Beckham on the team last year.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 01:25 PM) Would we really offer the GM job to Stone? Something needs to be done, but I would prefer to keep Williams over Guillen. Seriously, I would rather see DJ, Ventura, McDowell, Fisk or even Lance Johnson managing this team over Guillen at this point. I'd actually rather have Walker as the manager, too. Or Cooper. Just not Cora. Just get Rick Hahn to take over.
  5. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 01:10 PM) "Chance to win" is different than shutting the other team down. Obviously you can't ask them to pitch shutouts all the time but still. Cleveland scored 2 runs in 4 games against Texas and Detroit. They're a terrible offense. Only in Buehrle's first start did we hold them under 3 runs. That's 1 out of 6 games, whereas against other teams they were held under 3 runs in 4 out of 6 games. When your starting pitching is allowing 3 runs in 6-7 innings, they're giving you a chance to win. You can't expect the entire pitching staff to post sub-3 ERAs, that's just unrealistic.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 01:07 PM) As much crap as Ozzie is getting, Kenny Williams has done a HORRIBLE job as our GM since the Quentin trade. That's because he's listening to a man with a middle school education from a third world country.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 01:00 PM) Our starting pitching has underachieved so far. They've given us no chance to win in about 33% of the starts. The Sox had a lead in the first 7 games. Until the game where Peavy gave up 7 runs, it was doing a fine job. I've only counted 3 starts where our staff has not given us a chance to win. 3/13 is not a bad percentage.
  8. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 12:52 PM) The thing about the 0-8 record when scoring 3 or less is more an indictment on the pitching staff than anything else. I mean, we all knew the offense would suck and low scoring games would be common place. But I think that most of us would think that with our pitching staff, we can pull some of these games out, at least some of the time. Even if we won 2 of those 8, we'd be 6-6 right now. Basically, the pitching was supposed to carry this team. I don't think it has. It's hard to have a ERA under 3, you can't expect that of your pitching staff for the whole year. The fact that our crappy ass offense is in most of these games is more indicative of our pitching staff doing its job.
  9. I think right now might be a good time to overreact, if not just give up on the season for a week or until they start playing better. This is just a f***ing waste of my time, to which I don't have much of.
  10. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 02:22 AM) Anyone see that Vicente Padilla hit on Aaron Rowand? http://losangeles.dodgers.mlb.com/video/pl...tent_id=7491673 Wound up suffering two small fractures in his left cheekbone and a mild concussion. Padilla just walked around like a douchebag.
  11. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 10:58 PM) MLB.com comment that I thought was funny: All those comments are the suck.
  12. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 10:11 PM) That's what Sundays are for. I have other plans for tomorrow.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 10:00 PM) Where you been? Ha I was studying for my exam on Monday...? I also noticed that Jimenez throw a no hitter...Damn, what a historic day.
  14. Maybe Ozzie should decide to take all that information and use it correctly... Since when was ignorance a good thing...?
  15. 20 innings, holy hell.
  16. QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 09:03 PM) I'm not sure what other options he had. There was no question Thornton was going to be called in to face Sizemore, Choo, and Hafner. I suppose we could have brought him in to start the inning, but... Jake was rolling along pretty nicely. I don't think bringing him out to start the 8th was a horrible idea. But neither he or Thornton got the job done. What do you do? Besides, if our offense was worth a damn, it probably wouldn't have mattered. Two walks in the 7th. If A.J. didn't throw Valbuena out, he might have given up the tying run in the 7th.
  17. Matt LaPorta is now MaTola, hahaha. Ozzie, you should quit this job if you don't even know who's on the other team. Jesus.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 05:51 PM) for the remainder of April 1) Come see Sergio Santos 2) It's Still Early 3) Gordon Beckham...Gordon Beckham. 4) Andruw Jones, he's not as bad as we thought. 5) Alex Rios, he's not as bad as we thought. 6) Come see Peavy, Putz, Konerko, AJ, Jenks and Buehrle before they're traded. 7) Even Ranger Rongey is now questioning Ozzie...which means even YOU, the casual fan, could probably do a better job than Ozzie. 8) We can beat the Indians and possibly the Royals in attendance 9) Only the SOX can make a hero out of Asdrubal Cabrera, who hits .194 against RHP and is a vital cog in the worst offense in baseball, and cause season ticket holders to ditch their tickets after the first homestand. 10) We have the hitting coach with the longest tenure in the AL Central Division. Asdrubal Cabrera is a pretty good hitter though.
  19. Ozzie's comments after game, "I think our offense has to get better" #1. The offense scored enough runs to have a lead in the 8th, you were part of the reason that lead disappeared. #2. You had a lot to do with putting this PoS offense together. #3. Maybe you should say "my bad" one of these days for wasting our time with this 4-8 team.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 05:42 PM) Can we please get a long reliever so we don't have to waste Thornton and Jenks in blow outs? Tony Pena?
  21. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 05:23 PM) Thornton's gives up too many big runs. I think you're forgetting how many runs he does not give up...
