  1. Caleb made around 5 elite throws today and was more or less mistake free. A few misses here or there, but that's normal for just about every QB in the NFL. I would be feeling great about the game, then I saw just how bad Russ looked against a real defense on SNF and that guy put up 450 yards on Dallas last week. Alas, you play the team that's on your schedule and the Bears really needed a game like this to get right. I think today's game puts us out of the bad team category and at least confirms that we'll be mediocre this year. But I wouldn't go on thinking we can win more than 8-9 games until they can show us performances like this on a consistent basis against better competition.
  2. The Diamondbacks are only a game back too and they sold at the deadline.
  3. With Detroit and Cleveland playing each other, the Astros probably get in by default because of that. Plus they're playing the A's.
  4. Just saw the play that ended the Mariners game. What a catch by Robles and what terrible base running by Houston. The runner that got doubled up wasn't even the tying run. Can't be doing that.
  5. Houston missing out on the playoffs would be great.
  6. Cleveland is tied for the last playoff spot with Houston now.
  7. Tigers are so cooked. They need Skubal to start at least one game against the Guardians.
  8. The Guardians still have a negative run differential on the season. They haven't been all that good this year, but they're getting hot at the right time.
  9. This is probably one of the worst collapses I can remember. Detroit has basically been in first place all season. Now they might miss the playoffs altogether.
  10. On the way to being 2.5 games. This is getting very interesting.
  11. Cleveland is only 3.5 back of Detroit. They probably won't win the division since there's 9 games left, but I did not expect them to get this close.
  12. FWIW, I did feel like the Loveland pick had a lot of Ben Johnson influence at the time. But even if that wasn't a Poles pick, it's not like his draft history prior to that is any good.
  13. Our defense is just really bad. JJ not exactly looking very good against a mediocre Falcons defense.
  14. Colts deserved to lose that with whatever they were trying to do prior to the FG attempt. Running it 5 times in a row into a heavy box instead of trying to get the 10 yards you need. They played so scared and deserved to lose for that. They got bailed out by a soft call.
  15. Can't really blame Caleb for this one. One thing I did notice was that the offensive line was pretty good in the first half but was awful in the 2nd. Tackles constantly got beat. Caleb was also taking a bit longer on some throws in the 2nd half. Seems like the opponents actually adjust at half and we don't. Both 2nd halves have been disastrous so far. I think the terrible call before half kind of deflated the defense, but that doesn't excuse giving up 52.
  16. The Loveland pick was always a WTF type pick. He's clearly not a Bowers type prospect.
  17. It's pretty sad that the last wild card spot is gonna be some .500 team in the NL.
  18. Parsons' effect on the Packers defense is a lot like the effect Mack had on the Bears in 2018. All of a sudden, everyone on the team goes from mid at just about everything to being good at everything.
  19. Padres are still playing for the NL West. Although I'm not sure if they still will be in a few weeks.
  20. I totally forgot about the Yankees series. This streak started during the last game of that series.
  21. Lots of games against good teams though. Some of them may have playoff implications.
  22. What is that, 4 series wins in a row?
  23. Leasure's been really good since the start of August.
  24. Don't bring him back next year so Venable can't use him.
  25. Since when did Burke start throwing 100? That AAA stint did him some good.
