  1. Can we get Jake Lamb back? He hit a homer off McCullers during the regular season.
  2. lol then we're in the same situation as we were last off-season. That said, Joc turns it up for October and that's something this club really needs from a veteran bat.
  3. His argument was about swings and misses though. The White Sox are better at home so they must also be cheating too argument is so simplistic and lazy from Baker. The White Sox didn't come home and stop swinging and missing pitches. They whiffed 29 times last night, far more than they did in Houston. The Astros averaged 16 whiffs in the first 2 games and had 22 last night. It's not some gigantic difference, but I think from Tepera's POV, they swung at a lot more of his pitches because he had no whiffs in an inning on Friday and got 5 whiffs in 2 innings last night.
  4. The Rays going with a bullpen game in a must-win situation sure is something.
  5. Just speaking of this from a win expectancy standpoint. The White Sox were actually favored in game 2 with the Giolito vs. Valdez matchup 52-48 by ZiPS. I think we'll be favored tomorrow since it's a home game, so ZiPS might actually favor us in both games, albeit very slightly. That being said, even if we are favored to win both, our probability of winning the series will still be around 25%.
  6. McCullers had 5 starts where he gave up 4 runs or more this year. 4 of them came against AL Central teams. Detroit knocked him around for 6 runs early in the year, but he hasn't given up more than 4 runs since August 25th against the Royals. The Astros' struggles against everyone in the AL Central besides the White Sox is puzzling. It makes the "you don't have the AL Central to beat up on" comments from Astros fans even funnier.
  7. I think that's what we tried to do in game 1 and we did nothing but make weak contact all game.
  8. I'm telling you...Carlos and the Sox need to get Cane Guy to Mr. Miyagi Rodon's shoulder.
  9. I see there's a tornado watch in the Chicagoland area right now...good thing they didn't try to play through that.
  10. lmao I don't think you need a voodoo doll for Dusty...he'll do some dumb shit by himself. Like taking his pitcher out mid at bat to replace him with a worse pitcher.
  11. He did this 3 starts ago against Boston. It's definitely possible that he can bring this type of stuff again.
  12. I'm still in disbelief that Leury almost hit a ball 450 feet.
  13. Kinda crazy that he wasn't even on the taxi squad. If he had any kind of pride he'd work his ass off this off-season to get back to where he was in 2020.
  14. Tepera and Bummer went multiple innings, but neither had to throw more than 25 pitches. Kopech had to throw nearly 50.
  15. And I'm sure Dusty is already thinking about the ALCS and what starting McCullers in game 4 would mean for their pitching alignment. It's basically the difference between having McCullers only go once or twice in a series.
  16. Houston's starters outside of McCullers have been just as bad as ours this series. Honestly the offense has executed the game plan in games 2 and 3 against their starters. The plan was always to get their starters out early and get into their bullpen and we've done that in 2 out of the 3 games.
  17. Not using McCullers in game 4 is probably smart if they're looking forward to the ALCS. Cause if he goes tomorrow, he can't pitch until game 3 of the ALCS at the earliest unless he goes on short rest. If he starts game 5, he also won't be able to pitch until game 3 of the ALCS. But if they somehow win with Urquidy in game 4, McCullers can start game 1 of the ALCS.
  18. I feel like Rodon has deserved at least one start in the playoffs. We really owe it to ourselves to see what he's got, cause the rest of the staff certainly hasn't had it. I still think you go with him with Lynn as the backup.
  19. Well that's bullshit. They'll probably start McCullers tomorrow now.
  20. It sure feels like every rally they've had has involved a walk.
  21. Especially since Gammons used to pocket tweet all the time or make random tweets like he was writing down notes in a check list.
  22. Because it didn't result in a walk or hit directly. Ump Scorecards also does not care what happens after the call, because it's based around run expectancy. Not how many actual runs were scored because of the difference in the call. I actually don't remember the strike 3 on Maldonado being in the same spot as Grandal's non-called 3rd strike, but it seemed like Hallion did not give the high strike to lefties all game and he pretty much kept with it. The zone was mostly consistent, even though it was pretty bad.
  23. Hmm did the Astros personally apologize to every clubhouse in baseball?
  24. Welp, I guess the Astros fans bitching about the ump can take solace in that they would have lost 11.75 to 7.
