Eww Leury 6th.

4-18 GT: Sox @ Boston - Game 1 (12:10pm)
I'm guessing Grandal won't catch game 2. I know Yaz had an RBI double in game 1, but TLR really sucks at making lineups for good matchups. Collins will end up starting vs. the lefty starter and Grandal, who hits lefties better than righties, will sit vs. the lefty. This isn't the first time it's happened this year either. Meanwhile, TLR went out of his way to play Jake Lamb against Bieber instead of Yermin.

I'm guessing the plan is for him to go 2 or 3 innings or whenever he hits 40ish pitches. Then Stiever comes in?

Kopech starting game 2
Disappointing, given how well Tim hits lefties.

Dalbec knew it was coming and couldn't hit it.

Hendriks has no control on the slider or curve right now.

Here we go again... TLR should know by now you don't let Keuchel face a lineup the 3rd time through.

Eaton can't figure this Josh Taylor guy out.

4/17 GT: Sox vs Sahx, 3:05 PM CST
Only guy I can really think of is Eduardo Rodriguez. But he's now back and pitching fine.

The only thing we're doing better than the Twins so far is not having a super spreader on the team.

AL Central 2021
Twins' game at Anaheim just got postponed because of COVID protocols. They have some possible cases on their team. When I saw it got postponed, the first thing I checked for was the weather in Anaheim. Because I don't remember the last time it rained in SoCal.

Get a slim lead early, waste early run scoring opportunities, let other team hang around and chip away at lead, bullpen blows lead, offense doesn't score after blowing early chances, lose game.

Winning close games is a sign of good managing and a good team. It appears we don't have either of those thus far.

Should have scored off Pivetta while they could have the first few innings. We did get unlucky this game with Moncada basically hitting a grand slam that ended up being an out. But they looked like crap against the bullpen.

2021 MLB Catch-all Thread
Harper fits this team way better. I would have loved to sign Machado back in 2019, but Harper just makes more sense for the Sox. We need outfielders and guys who can hit righties. Harper fits that mold perfectly.

He was basically limping and got 2 bases to help get the tying run in.

The Andrew Vaughn LF Thread
Vaughn whiff rate on fastballs so far: 36% Robert whiff rate on fastballs last year: 36% Collins whiff rate on fastballs last year: 39% League average whiff rate on fastballs: 16% To be fair to Zack and Robert, both of them have brought their whiff rates down on fastballs to around 22% this season. SSS though. I believe Vaughn will get better, it's not easy to play a position you've never played as a rookie. But he's gotta start hitting more fastballs.

The Andrew Vaughn LF Thread
LOL what? I said he has a good approach and sees pitches, which is why he has a pretty good OBP despite hitting .130. It's absolutely true that he hasn't handled fastballs in the zone well. It's understandable for a rookie, but with the way he was hyped as a hitter, I was expecting him to get more than 1 hit on fastballs 2 weeks into the season. You can go look up the splits. For his pitch values, he's at -1.1 runs on fastballs already. He'll be fine, but it's laughable to not be little bit disappointed by his hitting thus far.

The Andrew Vaughn LF Thread
What's weird is that Vaughn has probably exceeded my expectations as a fielder, but has been disappointing at the plate. He has a good approach and sees pitches, but he can't hit fastballs in the zone.

The Show
Diamond Dynasty has a lot of cool stuff in it this year. I'm glad they finally let you equip real team uniforms. They also have some throwbacks too.

Way to waste Kopech in a game you can't win.
