QUOTE (knightni @ May 28, 2010 -> 08:52 PM) No Jenks in the 9th! As long as we don't make Thorton the closer, its allllll good
-
I do love how much everyone hates Jenks yet thinks we could trade him to anyone for anything. Sweet-o-logic

QUOTE (qwerty @ May 26, 2010 -> 02:08 PM) I would fully disagree. None of us know the behind the scenes scenarios. Such as who slept with who, it could range from a sister, wife, or mom. People tend to get out of hand due to a drunken outrage and say things that shouldn't be said, and it could be regarding anything. The closest of friends for years can absolutely despise one another due to a disagreement, sides are taken, s*** talking behind backs are said, etc, etc. Just a bit like real life. Actually you agree with me then. All I'm saying is not a single person here or any other fan can claim to know what the "players feel", so using that as an argument for or against any player is pointless.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 26, 2010 -> 01:53 PM) I didn't say that. I said it has an effect. I don't see how its that hard. And I have never bought this bizarre idea that ballplayers live in XBox land where they are robots. And I've never bought that there is this massive Chemistry Stat that makes a huge impact on how a team plays. If a team is winning, they have great chemistry, if they suck, their chemistry sucks? Its stupid

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 26, 2010 -> 01:47 PM) Because I am a human being, and so are they. Don't need to be in the clubhouse to know this. NO idea how MUCH effect it has, but is sure as heck has one. Not buying it. I'm fine with analysis, but when it gets to "I know how these players feel" type arguments....sorry, you don't unless you are there.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 26, 2010 -> 01:43 PM) Part of the issue here isn't just Bobby maybe losing the game. Even if he manages to end this thing for the Sox win, it sort of takes away some of the vibe from a good win. That has an effect on players that are already paranoid after too many losses. How often do you hang out with the team in the clubhouse to know this?

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 26, 2010 -> 01:33 PM) I love how we've been using Jenks. Thank you for letting him gain value like this Ozzie. Yeah I imagine teams would be giving up top prospects for a 7.5 million dollar Bobby who doesn't pitch in the 9th.

Gamethread: White Sox(17-24) vs Marlins (22-21) 1:05 PM CSN

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ May 22, 2010 -> 03:44 PM) Interesting to hear how excited Hawk was to get that 4th run, which to me is an absolute sign he has no faith in Bobby right now going in even with a 2 run lead....anyone else get this feeling?? Yeah, Hawk's not typically known for getting excited in the booth. A clear sign -
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 21, 2010 -> 12:34 AM) He wasn't worth that money, but he does have a ring on his finger, and a couple decent seasons under his belt. That's not a bust, that's a disappointment Which doesn't make him anything near a "cornerstone"

in other news that doesn't matter, I apparently missed AJP at Subway today for lunch. I rolled up and the parking lot was full, found out he was there at the time. God dammit

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 18, 2010 -> 03:38 PM) Freddy is not dead. Long live Freddy. Until his next L, when everyone here will be screaming for his head again.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 17, 2010 -> 04:14 PM) He'll stay in his 30 million dollar compound in Akron. ...In the offseason, and in his 20 million dollar Chicago house during the season.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 16, 2010 -> 04:13 PM) Great example. Last night, 9th inning, ground ball went past Teahen that Vizquel might have fielded. Put a hitter on in the 9th inning. Because of that, Thornton had an extra batter to pitch to. While pitching to that batter...Thornton felt some tightness/weakness in his elbow that he started shaking off. Yes, because the ONLY way Thornton would have gotten hurt was if by some chance the stars aligned and he had faced that exact hitter at that exact moment. Give me a break, quit reaching for s***. If he didn't pop something against that hitter he would have popped it the next time he warmed up. Complain about 90% of our team hitting 5 ERA....not stupid crap like that.
-
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 16, 2010 -> 03:44 PM) You can't justify this move. Literally, there's no reason that this to have ever had to happen. Everyone involved in making this decision deserved to be fired the minute it was made. This is not hyperbole; Dh'ing Vizquel is an absolute joke and an embarrassment to this organization. Sure it isn't. Does it really matter? Seriously? Would Nix have had a 5 run HR if he was DHing? Who the f*** cares at this point.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 16, 2010 -> 12:38 AM) 3.) I coulda sworn every game thread people are SCREAMING for Thornton every f***ing game. Now here you say don't use him all the time? I'm goin crazy. Damned if you do and damned if you don't if you are the manager of this team. My god. And those people would be idiots.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 14, 2010 -> 06:06 PM) I know there's a 'chance.' But folks are setting themselves up for some pretty massive disappointment. The thought of Lebron in a Bulls uni is just too improbable to comprehend. And I for one have never believed in miracles. Its on him to prove he actually wants to win. The Bulls give him the best opportunity to win

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 13, 2010 -> 03:39 PM) Rather than saying "Scroll back through the last 6 pages of this thread", try the shorter Talkbulls thread. Thanks. Standard BS i guess
-
So i just heard a bs teaser on ESPN1000 from Mike and Mike about "how it looks more and more like LBJ is coming to Chicago".....anyone heard of this or is it just standard bs from a radio show?
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 13, 2010 -> 12:22 PM) He's worked with Oakland's hitting coaches. And if there's one team known for turning out great hitting prospects over the past couple years, say, since they started testing for things, I think of Oakland. How would Oak's coaches have got to him if he was still a white sox?
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 13, 2010 -> 10:38 AM) With Sox prospects, you honestly never know. That's why I keep saying we need to get rid of Walker so that hopefully we can find someone who helps our young players make the adjustments necessary to succeed after the rest of baseball adjusts to them. I never thought Carlos Quentin would flop as much as he has since his magical season 2 years ago either, but right now, I'd rather have Chris Carter than him. I'm confident that Beckham and Fields aren't even in the same sentence together when it comes to prospects. And since Carter was just a "sox prospect" how do you know he would be good?
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 13, 2010 -> 11:44 AM) Did you see when Noah got pissed at LBJ during the year? When he hit a shot and ran to the side of the court and started dancing in front of the crowd afterwards with his teammates? He does that s*** all the time Ehh, I figured you were basing your entire argument on that one instance. Whoopdeedoo. He's no different than the other 95% of the leagues young guys that do the exact same things except aren't half the player he is
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 13, 2010 -> 11:32 AM) apples and oranges. You go ahead and find something more than his famous shrug (after he drilled all those 3 pointers against Portland) that is even close to what LBJ does. You arent going to find it, because all MJ did was play ball. And I didnt sat MJ didnt get facetime. LBJ actively seeks out facetime, MJ got it because he deserved it. LBJ deserves it too, but not because he dances around, but rather because he is an amazing basketball player Explain what it is that LBJ does on the court - during a live game, not timeouts or pregrame- that is so horrendous? Not to mention it was a different era, I don't see anything LBJ does that offends me and you won't find anyone back then who celebrates like 95% of the league does now anyway. KG pisses me off with his antics, but not Lebron. I'd rather have a guy celebrate than relentlessly talk s*** that he couldn't back up. Haha, and you can go ahead and keep believing MJ didn't want face time, he didn't build that empire by being reclusive.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 13, 2010 -> 11:22 AM) Kevin Durant is a freaking ball hog who looked overmatched against the Lakers. I've heard from many places that if the Bulls lose out on all the FAs this offseason, they're going to go balls out for Carmelo. Carmelo would be a great fit with Rose, significantly better than Wade would be. Way off on Durant. He's 22 years old. A scoring champion, and that was his first playoff series ever. He's gonna be dominant for a very long time
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 13, 2010 -> 10:25 AM) I will preface this by saying I want LBJ, but this isnt even close to the same thing. MJ talked s*** to his opponent, he didnt dance around and act the fool after shots. MJ was all about domination, at this point LBJ is somewhat about domination, but also he is about facetime on ESPN. So the most recognized athlete on earth didn't get face time? Yeah he didn't do the pre-game antics, but to say MJ didn't showboat on the court is ridiculous.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 12, 2010 -> 05:06 PM) No way, not after the Josh Fields debacle. If you really think those 2 players are on the same level, there's no logical argument that will work.
