QUOTE (farmteam @ Jun 2, 2015 -> 06:36 PM) More of a bar question than a beer question. My cousin just moved to Lincoln Park (Sheffield and Armitage) and wants to find a decent bar to frequent, but said a lot of the ones near him turn him off (irrationally or not) by having Cubs signs in the window. I said of course they do, it's the northside. Are there actually any Sox bars around there? And generally, any good bars within walking distance of Sheffield and Armitage I should recommend to him? I THINK Halligan bar on Lincoln and Belden is a Sox bar. It use to be, but I haven't been there in a few years. I'm not sure how old your cousin is, but it's definitely a younger crowd that goes there.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 29, 2015 -> 10:33 AM) Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine 48m48 minutes ago Hearing that the Magic, if they have their way, will have a deal with Scott Skiles to be their new head coach by day's end What is the obsession with this guy? Hasn't he proven he is an average at best NBA coach who isn't going to get you where you want to go? He has floated at or below 500 for almost every season he's been a coach, and has a career .506 win %. Is that good enough to keep teams knocking on your door?

You should also consider the other teams in this city are in the playoffs. Monday the Bulls, last night the Hawks. It'd be a hard sell to sit in

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 11:20 AM) Now the Bucks ownership is trying to keep out Bulls fans. http://www.slamonline.com/nba/bucks-co-own...3OmzqmT7o7cs.97 The Bucks ownership should worry about selling out their stadium before they worry who's going... There are a TON of seats open on the upper level for a playoff game less than 7 days away.

QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 11:34 AM) Looks like Bernstein is taking a vacation. Not sure if it was already planned or suggested by CBS, but it would be a good cover for a possible suspension. So is Spiegel. It's too much of a coincidence to not be a punishment.

QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 03:27 PM) Naturally a lot of people are making the connection with a Cutler to the Jets scenario and by reading some opinions of Jets fans and Jets writers out there they are praying that it happens. Gonna get interesting folks. Because Jets fans know what Bears fans seem to have forgotten. You can do a whole lot worse at QB than Cutler.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 03:22 PM) Apparently Briggs will not be a Bear next year. http://www.csnchicago.com/bears/source-lan...turn-bears-2015 Good. He had no interest in being here last year, I'm glad they aren't entertaining him coming back.

So JRW's lawyer just had a press conference. Why can't the people who knowingly cheated step up to the plate and accept responsibility? Instead, they hire a lawyer to lawyer their way out of this... I assume the lawyer was also hired because they will be facing lawsuits against them, but that's not what I got out of that press conference.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Jan 9, 2015 -> 12:41 PM) College football needs to do some tweaking on their dates, that's for sure. On Monday morning, everyone outside of Oregon and Ohio will be talking about what happened on Saturday and Sunday in the NFL. I agree they need to move the dates up, but I don't see the above as an issue. Monday morning people may be talking about what happened in the NFL, but Monday night CFB will have no major sports competition, so more people will be watching the championship. If they did it Saturday/Sunday afternoon, they'd have to compete against the NFL. Then Tuesday morning everyone will be talking about what happened in the CFB championship game, again with no competition with the NFL. I would like to see them move the game up, but that's because as a Buckeyes fan I am hating having to wait 11 days to see what happens in the championship game. -
QUOTE (scs787 @ Dec 24, 2014 -> 01:40 AM) I watched an episode of Hawaii five-o not to long ago where a dude hacked a plane. That was obviously just a TV show, but I think the ability to do so may be a thing. I watched an episode of The Walking Dead where people hid in a jail to protect themselves from zombies.. That was obviously a TV show, but I think zombies may be a thing.

QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 11:56 AM) Does anybody recommend a website to look for apartments around chicagoland? padmapper.com It takes listings from craigslist, apartments.com, and some other sites and puts them on a map for you.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 16, 2014 -> 02:28 PM) That's simple, actually. It because they know if you are streaming it to your video game system (connected to your HD TV), you might be doing so in place of having a satellite subscription. But how is that different than a laptop or tablet? Or are you saying that a video game system requires use of the TV, while if you have it on your laptop you could still be using your TV to watch cable (or satellite) tv? I just thought the whole point of this was to sell NFL Sunday Ticket to non satellite subscribers, so no matter what I use to view it, they aren't getting anything more from me. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 16, 2014 -> 02:21 PM) Sounds like you need some kind of mac/apple device, of which I have none. I don't think that's true. It's being reported by an Apple website, but the Sunday Ticket site they link to makes no mention of Apple devices. It just states "NFLSUNDAYTICKET.TV lets you stream games on your computer, tablet, phone, or game console." If this is true, it's pretty awesome. Though, I wonder why game consoles are more expensive than any other option. -
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 19, 2014 -> 05:58 PM) No it is fair. The Bulls have missed on pretty much every top tier FA in my life time. There is no evidence to support that Thibs has gotten top tier players to sign with the Bulls at a higher percentage. Lets be honest, somehow this ends up with Love/Melo on the Lakers, while the Bulls continue to rebuild. That's not what I was trying to say. People mention flipping Thibs for players, and using those players to trade for Love or Melo (sign & trade), or improving this team + signing one of these players. Thibs is what makes this team appealing. If you trade him, who is to say Melo or Love will even want to sign with the Bulls? I personally think if he goes, so do our chances of either of those players. I just think it's not as simple as trade Thibs, get player, trade for Love.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 19, 2014 -> 03:50 PM) I wonder if the Bulls really will get an offer they can't refuse. That's a lot of chatter by a few different teams. I think this is a very dangerous situation. Players want to come to the Bulls because of TT. If you ship him out, you may be stuck with nothing.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 23, 2014 -> 11:30 AM) It happened in Australia FWIW That makes more sense... For some reason I thought it happened here but she was Australian... Guess that's what I get for not reading the original report, and just the Huffington Post website.

That seems like a very light sentence. $4,500 and a few months suspension? (I see that it was extended, but originally it wasn't very long) That's lighter than drunk driving and she actually hit and almost paralyzed a man. I would have expected some sort of jail time even if it was suspended.

QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Apr 22, 2014 -> 02:58 PM) I may be the only one, but I'm glad Jordan is getting more AB's and I hope he stays in LF when Spanky returns to CF. I know he won't since they want to showcase DeAza but they way Alejandro has been swinging the lumber, Danks should be starting. I sure hope not. I feel ill watching him at the plate. He is not an every day major leaguer, and I sure don't want to see him bat every day.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Apr 21, 2014 -> 11:38 AM) Terrelle Pryor is about to be released.....If he's willing to take a backup job I'd be all about the Bears bringing him in to be the backup. As a Buckeye fan, I've been a huge fan of Pryor since he signed with OSU. I personally haven't seen much improvement in his passing ability. He's always been a freak athlete, but that only gets you so far as a QB. If Trestman could work his QB magic, I'd love it, but I fear it'd just be a waste of a roster spot. -

QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Nov 27, 2013 -> 12:38 PM) Plenty of midmajors have won BCS games. TCU beat Wisconsin in '11. Utah beat Alabama in '09. Boise beat Oklahoma in '07. Utah beat Pitt in '05. It's not like the non-AQ schools always get blown out. Give undefeated Northern a shot in the BCS again. I don't really understand the argument against... I think the argument against is that they just got blown out last year. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 09:17 AM) By using this rationale, does that mean that Notre Dame should never get a BCS shot again? They got humiliated in the championship game after running the table, so therefore they will never be better than that and can never become better?(and yes, I know they have a history, and they have won Bowl games) Programs evolve. NIU is on the upswing right now, they could turn themselves into something special. Getting a shot at BCS games by playing within the rules set before them always seems to be held against the lesser teams, I dont get that. It was my opinion last year that Notre Dame didn't deserve to play in the BCS title game. They won out, so they went, but they sure didn't look the part. NIU appears to be almost the same team as last year. They needed a last second FG to beat Iowa. If they were that much better, they would have easily handled a 6-4 unranked Iowa team. Now, the rules are the rules, and if they are the top non BCS team then they'll be in... I just don't see them doing much better than last year. And I would like to have a few more entertaining BCS games this year. I get that programs evolve, and if they keep performing I'm sure they can add better talent, and may be able to eventually compete (though it's the last year of the BCS, so I'm not sure what that will do). I think lesser teams get looked down on when they get a BCS game because they tend not to play anyone. If you don't play any top tier teams then you should be blowing every team you play out of the water. -

QUOTE (staxx @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 08:55 AM) why is everyone so salty toward NIU? hate to say it but they are the best college football team in the state, no reason to not support them with wherever it goes. I don't know if I'm "salty" toward NIU. I just really don't need to see them get humiliated in another BCS game. It's great that they're doing so well, but last year kind of proved they are what they are, and they don't belong with the big dogs. That doesn't mean their fans can't enjoy their wins, just don't go overboard with it.
