That's why Lovie just had to go, the OL troubles ultimately fall on him as the HC, too many years of awfulness from that part of the game...a great offensive line make a Mark Rypien a superbowl champ and an awful OL line make any QB not named Aaron Rodgers look bad. That's why great QBs like Brady, Manning, Brees ect always seem to have a great O line in front of them, I'd love to see those guys try to operate with our O line...

Didn't he get fired because when the Wizards played the Bulls, the top brass asked him not to introduce MJ the way he did during the Bulls glory days and he ignored their request? I think I read that somewhere a while back. Anyways, that sounded off, kept wanting to hear Pip's and MJ's name

Saw this joke in another forum... Eli Manning, Jay Cutler, Tony Romo and Ben Roethlisberger walk into a bar... They see four girls and go to pick them up. Cutler immediately says something stupid and another guy intercepts his girl. Eli is failing miserable and everyone is laughing at him but somehow the girl leaves the bar with him. Romo is just about to score but inexplicably starts talking about the time he had herpes and strikes out. While Romo is leaving he asks Ben how come he is still there? Ben says he's still waiting for the drug to take effect. And if Tom Brady was with them, (wasn't available since he's in the playoffs) he would've left with all four of the hotties!

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 04:39 PM) And has for a number of seasons. I got a chance to listen to some sports talk today....my god there are people who were surprised/shocked Lovie got fired? Some even angry? WTF? Missing the playoffs 5 times in 6 years, 6 times in 9 years is f***ing pathetic. Lovie was incredibly average as a coach and his record supports that - beat the crap teams, lost to the good teams. Good f***ing riddance. Made it to the SB with Rex Grossman...I still believe that if the Bears had a healthy Tommie Harris and Mike Brown in that game, Bears win IMO. That Bears D wasn't the same after those two went down.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 3, 2013 -> 09:50 AM) Well one of the things I have never really understood about our offensive playcalling is why we don't ever seem to be able to 1) call a slant or 2) execute a slant successfully. Green Bay runs a crapload of slants and other quick inside crossing routes that allow Rodgers to get rid of the ball quickly. They also roll him out quite a bit more than the Bears roll Cutler out. Now it's pretty clear that Rodgers is better on the run than Cutler (and probably the best in the League, honestly), but we just never seemed to call the offensive game according to the limitations of our offensive line (outside of that Dallas game last year and maybe a few other instances I am not recalling). So I agree with your general point, but I don't think that is a Cutler issue, as he has shown a really incredible ability to avoid pressure within the pocket and he has shown he can really be athletic when he gets outside of the pocket. I think it is more of a failure of our coaching staff to design and/or call the correct plays to try and deal with a subpar offensive line. I love this post, especially the bolded part... I also can't stand the fact that the Bears really really suck at HB screens or creating plays to get Hester in open space to best utilize his speed/quickness.

I've always liked Lovie, sad to see him go and if he goes somewhere where they have a solid offense and need help on the defensive end, he could be really successful. Unfortunately, the offense in Chicago has mostly been garbage under his tenure, some of it his fault, some of it not. I hope the Bears don't mess this up but like some posters have pointed it out already, my money says they'll f*** it up like always... Good luck Lovie, the meathead Bears fans are idiots, hope you are successful at whatever you do.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 30, 2012 -> 07:16 PM) I like Lovie as a coach, but I cannot support bringing him back. He'll get another job next year or the year after, but his time with the Bears should be up. I ageee...I like Lovie but we need HC that knows what an offense looks like.

When I said that Green Bay's D was mediocre a couple of weeks ago, I was being very generous. They won't win the SB unless Rodgers and Co. light up the scoreboard, their D is atrocious...

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 28, 2012 -> 05:23 PM) That's precisely what I'm saying though. Every team practices just as hard very single week in the NFL. Unexpected results occur when bench players start, folks get injured, opponents come up with out-of-the-norm game plans, etc. Fair enough

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Dec 28, 2012 -> 05:11 PM) Wasnt that Kapernicks 1st game as starter? Couldn't that have something to do with it....Cambell was also starting that game so it's no wonder they lost like they did. Yeah, I remember there were a few people here who thought it was going to be a low scoring game because of that. Turns out that the Bears D couldn't stop the 49ers O to save their lives. All I'm saying is that I think the Lions aren't not going to show up, the Bears need to play the game as if it were a playoff game since it essentially is and hope the Pack can help us out.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 28, 2012 -> 04:56 PM) But do you really think they lollygagged all week leading up to the game? Coaches were slacking and the players left practice early each day? That's not what I'm saying, maybe it was more of not scouting the opponent enough, I don't know but the 49ers ran a lot of plays that looked like the Bears were totally not expecting, I recall the MNF TV crew also mentioning that.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 28, 2012 -> 04:39 PM) Not to pick on you since I say things like this quite often but is there ever a scenario where an NFL team sleeps on an opponent and comes unprepared? With so few games in a season I'd think every opponent is taken seriously. I think the saying only works for fans and gamblers. The Bears looked totally unprepared against the 49ers for one.

Bears need to win at Detroit first and I'm not all that confident, I see the Lions playing balls out to knock us off our playoffs hopes.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 20, 2012 -> 08:51 AM) Well, we all thought it would be hard to top McArdle, but Charlotte Allen is now lapping the field *False **There were not 11 and 12 yo's ***It's K-4 ****There are two male teachers on staff *****There was a male janitor, though I'm not sure why you'd bring a bucket to a gun fight Yeah, adult females are a bunch of feminized weaklings incapable of stopping a man with a gun, but "huskier 12-year-old boys" are known to be impervious to bullets! Y2HH I know what you're saying, but these are people writing for somewhat major publications. Ignoring them won't make them go away. Ridicule and scorn for their terrible ideas might, or at least lets you vent. I'll point out that both Mex and I linked to people mocking them and not the original articles. While Y2HH's point is valid, I agree with SS, ridicule these people for their idiocy. I purposely didn't post a link to her website, rather to another one to not give her more traffic.

Libertarian columnist Megan McArdle has just wrote the most idiotic idea ever on the internet...she says we should start training kids to rush gunmen to prevent further attacks. Unbelievable... http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/12/18/1...dex+(Daily+Kos)

Meh, they deserve to get booed, what does he expect, a standing ovation? If they don't want to get booed, beating the Packers once in a while would be a great start.

QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 18, 2012 -> 11:48 AM) He said mentality...I, too, have an MJ-like mentality but that doens't mean I'm as good as him. Just kidding, yeah I am as good as him Jake...the MJ of SoxTalk (wants to destroy every poster here) Just to get back on point and topic, you don't have to hate an opponent to beat them, Peppers being friendly to Rodgers after a sack doesn't mean we will lose to them because Peppers didn't use Rodgers helmet as a prop to get up...

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Dec 18, 2012 -> 11:37 AM) Do they ever hang out? Are they ever seen chatting and laughing together on court in a friendly way? Do they train together in the offseason? Do they help eachother up after the other falls? No. Derrick might respect Lebron as a competitor but he doesn't like Lebron. Derricks M.J./Kobe-like mentality is one of the things we all love about him It's a lot different mentality than I see out of guys like Peppers and Forte. I'd wait a little longer before including Rose name along with Kobe/MJ... I hope you realize MJ was best pals with Charles Oakley and Patrick Ewing of the "hated" Knicks, yet it didn't stop MJ from wanting to bury them everytime they played and vice versa. Magic and Larry were pals yet their teams waged wars... We just turned the NFL thread into the NBA thread.

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Dec 18, 2012 -> 10:45 AM) That's Lebron hugging Rose not the other way around. And he's doing it after the game is over. Everyone knows they don't like eachother Drop it dude, come on. I've never heard from anyone but you that DR hates LBJ, they may not be best friends but they are always complimenting each other...where's your proof of this "hate"? The Bulls/Heat rivalry sucks because they don't hate each other...

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Dec 17, 2012 -> 06:03 PM) my life doesn't depend on it either, the players lives depend on it. They SHOULD want to play their hardest to get into the playoffs and win a superbowl. When you see guys smiling and laughing with the other team in a game on which your playoff lives depend, not to mention your pride, it makes me think they lack heart. Even some players agree with me, I hear Matt Bowen talking about defensive players attitudes all the time. He says some of them like to give guys an extra pop when they hit them, not to try and injure them but maybe just to shake them a little. Because if the QB is shook that means he's scared, and when QB's get scared they start making poor decisions. And when Aaron Rodgers starts making poor decisions, the Bears win games. And when the Bears win games, the Bears could win a superbowl. How many times have we seen Cutler get flustered in the pocket? Nobody is talking about dirty hits that cause concussions and permanent injuries. I'm talking about hitting guys hard the legal and correct way. Maybe getting into their heads a little. Not slapping them on the back and sharing a joke. Rodgers is a robot, it doesn't make bad decisions. You can get him off balance, get him away from his comfort zone and get rid of the ball earlier than he wants but he doesn't stupidly throw the ball into double coverage.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Dec 17, 2012 -> 05:48 PM) Pretty clear the NFL protects QBs and will really protect QBs they want to market. Mark Barron got hit for an Unnecessary Roughness call for this tackle on RG3. As you can see at this point of the play RG3 was a ball carrier, not a QB in the pocket. Well, then I have no idea what is considered a good clean hit and what is dirty. The Peppers hit looked clean, didn't lead with his helmet and it wasn't a late hit. The NFL should just go ahead and change the rules to that you can't hit QBs anymore...it will certainly help Cutler with the turnstile OL he has.
