  1. Don't know if it's been mentioned on American ESPN (I get Latin America's edition down here) but if the 49ers win on Sunday, a team of each NFC division will have won a SB the last four years. New Orleans from the South, Green Bay from the North and the Giants from the East. Excuse this post if it already has been mentioned ad naseum on ESPN, which I imagine it has but just in case it hasn't...
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 30, 2013 -> 01:47 PM) full contact link? NM, found it
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 30, 2013 -> 11:12 AM) I love everyone hating on SOXOBAMA for going to a bunch of events. Let the dude have his fun - he clearly isn't on Facebook to brag about these things so Soxtalk is his outlet. I'm just busting his balls a bit, but yeah, dude is living like a high rollah.
  4. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 29, 2013 -> 02:35 PM) Media Day was pretty crazy... I got the chance to meet several Niners players. Also, Ed Reed is such a great guy.
  5. Ha, RZZZA left with a bang. Dude loved trolling, won't be missed.
  6. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 28, 2013 -> 12:18 PM) I sold a 49 merc for a good profit, that is how I was able to buy Super Bowl tickets. Coincidence?
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 27, 2013 -> 04:02 PM) I feel like I go into some kind of trance whenever I watch Kevin Durant play. I've watched at least 20 Thunder games this year. And I stop whatever the f*** I'm doing, including masturbating, when this 24-year old man is on my flat-screen. He's having arguably the single greatest season from an offensive efficiency standpoint the game has ever seen. f*** all that the game is easier for wings/guards, etc. Some of that's true. But there's certain aspects of the game today that dwarfs the 80's/90's, let alone the garbage 60's, when Bill Russell was a beast (scouting, athleticism, etc). I can appreciate how supportive/enthusiastic most of the Bulls fans here are. I can also appreciate what the Bulls have done this year without their superstar. But at the end of the day, this league belongs to LeBron and Durant. They are so much better than everybody else else in the game today, it's not close. Both the Heat/Thunder aren't going anywhere for quite a while. Too bad we couldn't land a Rose/Thibs back in 2002 when it would've mattered. I can see them battling each other for the NBA title a la Larry's Celtics vs Magic's Lakers the next half dozen years.
  8. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 08:32 PM) ...and boom. ...goes the dynamite! I never understood the "players today are bigger, faster and stronger than in MJ's era" argument. As if Jordan played 50 years ago. Yeah, sports medicine and modern nutrition and sports science has helped modern players in those areas but humans don't evolve every generation, that's just crazy talk. If you look at the top 20 NBA players today and compare them to 1990's top 20, you ain't gonna see a difference in size, strength and speed. As if Carmelo Anthony is a way superior athlete to Scottie Pippen, for example. lol
  9. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 03:27 PM) Because now the league has 6'10" freaks like Kevin Durant who can run with anyone and score from anywhere past half court. Baloney Gimme a prime KAJ over Durant anyday. A great center is the anchor of the defensr, grabs rebounds on the O and D and if he got offensive skills, is the most offensively efficient position. Even in today's game, if KAJ were 18 years old today, GMs would be chomping at the bit to draft him. and to JFL, I know you hate Russell, no one mentioned him here, lol
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 03:00 PM) I said that players progress. One generation is better than the one before it. Explain the lack of quality big men, if every generation is bigger and faster, then why no 7 foot freaks of nature like Shaq. Wouldn't we have a plethora of big men? Prime Dwight Howard can't touch KAJ, Shaq, the Dream, DRobinson etc.
  11. QUOTE (Felix @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 01:15 PM) I think we can all agree that Derrick Rose is better than both MJ and LeBron James. We finally agree on something. Oh and...KLove>>>all
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 12:58 PM) Even as a massive MJ fan, and someone who really doesn't like LeBron, the ONLY place that MJ is better, is his killer mentality. LeBron is bigger, stronger, faster, a better shooter, and a better defender. disagree
  13. I like LBJ, let me get that outta the way but it'll be interesting to see how LBJ adjusts his game when his big physical advantage goes away as he gets older, MJ was still the best player in the league when he was in his mid 30s because he honed his offensive skills to compensate his declining athleticism. Let's admit it, LBJ doesn't have the greatest footwork in the post, he's getting by on brute athleticism, can he upgrade some of what he lacks right now when he won't be able to out jump his opponents?
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 12:47 PM) I'm also taking into account his vastly superior physical skillset. MJ's fundamental skills>LBJ's physical skillset Kinda like how Hakeem the Dream fundamental skillset demolished Shaq's physical skillset in the Finals.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 12:27 PM) LeBron does have the physical skills to be better than Jordan, but you're right, at least up until now, mentally can't match him. Not to say he won't someday, but right now, no way. If LeBron ever gets near Jordan's competitve nature, it will be pretty close. LeBron is unstoppable. When he decides to take over games it's like a high school all american vs. 8th graders. I agree, he's got the physical skills and we saw him defeat his metal demons last year but we've yet to see if he can bring it yaer after year like the greats before have. Most likely he can but it's not gauranteed he will.
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 12:24 PM) Predictable drivel. Whatever. I was fortunate enough to have seen prime Bird, Magic, MJ, Shaq and so forth. LBJ isn't even dominating on Shaq's level. Dude's only got one ring, let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet. LBJ had one great playoffs run. MJ had half a dozen...let's see if he can put together a few before we atart calling him the greatest ever, SMH.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 12:12 PM) The big difference is that LeBron's size would make him a much better defender of MJ. The extra couple of inches and long arms would be huge. We are talking prime MJ vs prime LBJ, prime MJ blows past LBJ if he gets in his grill, if he steps back to take away his drive, MJ, one of the greatest mid range games ever, will drain wet jumpers all day. MJ was unguardable, LBJ isn't stopping MJ...and you can forget about LBJ blocking MJ from behind, he was one of the greatest finishers at the rim.
  18. We should also put into perspective the competition each faced. MJ was forged playing against some of the greatest teams ever, Larry's Celtics, Magic's Lakers and the Bad Boys Pistons...LBJ only great competition was the mid 2000s Spurs. Give me MJ's assassin mentallity over LBJ any day of the week.
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 11:49 AM) Seaking of MJ - I love me some MJ. LeBron may not get to 6 rings (who knows, who cares), but right now he's flat out a better baller than MJ ever was. Hell, I'm even leaning that way with Kevin Durant - he's a freak of nature. These guys are bigger, stronger, and better than MJ. MJ would still get his against them if we're talking prime, but if I were starting a franchise today, I'd take prime LBJ or Durant over prime MJ. There, I said it. Flame on. I couldn't disagree more with this post. Steve, I like most of your posts but LBJ is not on MJ's level. Hell, I'd take prime Larry Bird over LBJ. LBJ has the athletic advantage but Bird was a better passer and smarter player. My money would be on prime MJ led team against a LBJ led team all things being equal. MJ would mindf*ck LBJ so bad that Jason Terry's dogging James would look like a day at the park...
  20. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 09:13 AM) LoLakers Growing up I was a huge MJ fan, the man was a sports god in my eyes and I really resented the way the NBA and the media presented Kobe right from the get go as the "next MJ". MJ earned his place in the GOAT debate with achievements, he EARNED it and I felt the NBA wanted to hand Kobe the mantle of the next GOAT just because his game was somewhat similar to Jordan's. Then Kobe got 3 rings in his early 20's (thanks to Shaq) and I thought it would be inevitable that Kobe would surpass MJ and give fodder to his foolish fan base and some ignorant media types that Kobe>MJ. Today with Kobe being in the twilight of his career and still stuck on 5 titles, it's looking more and more like he isn't going to get that sixth ring and surprisingly, I can't say that I'm happy about it. Sure, it's funny looking at the Lakers team that on paper look stacked and seeing them struggle so bad but I've become a bit of a Kobe fan (regardless of his moronic fans) and yeah he sometimes shoots way too much and he's a bit of a prick but he's also a throwback NBA player, the last of a dying breed. With all that said, though it may be impossible but wouldn't he look great in a Bulls jersey right now? He's the elite scoring option we need at SG! I know it ain't gonna happen but crazier things have happened before.
  21. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 01:38 PM) Huh? Just wanted to see pics. My bad...
  22. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 12:59 PM) Where are the pics from the NFC Championship?!?! On another note. If the Ravens can win, and Ray Lewis either has a sack or any type of impact play Id imagine he has an inside track for MVP. Why would you doubt that he went to the game?
  23. Damn, I missed last night's Bulls/Lakers game, didn't even know they were playing until today. That's what I get for being a negative nelly and not getting NBA League Pass because I thought the Bulls were gonna be awful this year..gonna sign up this weekend.
  24. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 10:48 AM) Who will be the Super Bowl MVP? My prediction it will be Vernon Davis I picked the 49ers to win the SB since early in the season but the Ravens just have something about them this season, they just beat two of the elite QBs in this league, at their house no less...they're like a baseball team that gets hot at the right moment and wins it all. I'll still stick with SF, but I would not be surprised in the least if Baltimore wins, they are peaking right now.
  25. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 11:01 AM) Someone should run a contest or something. Like for Sox regular season tickets, for example?
