  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 01:33 PM) Lilli-Elf. Start him over Dunn for the rest of the season as the DH, at least against LHP. Why not? This The less we see of Adam Bum, the better...
  2. Once upon a time Bacon had some plate discipline, now he just looks like he's up there hacking away...
  3. lol lillibomb f*** you Dunn, that's how it's done!
  4. We must easily lead the league in double plays.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 02:39 AM) Post of the Day from startribune.com sports "While we loyal fans get fleeced to the tune of $168.00 per case of beer, $56.00 per pound of hot dogs and whatever else overpriced food and beverage we purchase, plus the ticket for the game, I think we should get a little more entertainment for that much $$$$$. When the between inning video board is the highlight of the target field experience , I scratch my head in wonder. Oh Berts California math tells me our favorite Joe made approx $400,000.00 for his 4 at bats tonight. Instead of trying to book a concert the twins should book a rodeo, with all the b.s. thrown about by the manager, and management they should fit in nicely. Does anybody know if there is any decention in the clubhouse with Gardy and Joe hawking different dairys? With Slowey probably coming back, doesn' that give the guys another Guitar for there kumbayah campfire singalong. I'd like to comment on the baseball but haven't seen much in the last week." What the hell is decention?
  6. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 5, 2011 -> 09:41 PM) Let's all change our attitudes about this team starting today! We are ready to make a playoff push and the team needs our support to make it happen! Lets win it all come October! No offense but you're way too peppy for the way things have gone lately, I wish I had your confidence and I wish I could get into this team but they are more likely to drop out of the race in the next few weeks than make a push at it. Still, a nice win tonight, always nice to beat those assholes.
  7. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Aug 5, 2011 -> 08:59 AM) I just realized that the Sox did not draw a single walk in the entire four game series against NYY. Sometimes you just gotta tip your big, floppy clown cap.
  8. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Aug 5, 2011 -> 08:12 AM) There are decisions Guillen has made that other managers would not have made that are directly responsible for wins (sticking with Pierre when everyone wanted his head, and then he hits three GW hits) I'm having trouble identifying a single example in which Adam Dunn won this team a game. That's because Adam Bum hasn't contributed a damn thing to this team.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 05:00 PM) the first two games of the season, I was excited for our offense. heh. heh. I can't remember who wrote an article on ESPN online but he boldly predicted that the White Sox would finish the year with the most runs scored and not the Red Sox...ha!!! Honestly, I didn't think we'd outscore the BoSox but I felt us having a better rotation plus a solid top 5 offense, we would be a force to be reckoned with come playoff time. Boy, was I wrong.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 06:30 PM) April 13th: After throwing a stressful career-high 34 pitches the night before, Ozzie has Sale start the 9th inning with a 3 run lead against the A's. Sale struggles and can't get an out, and Sox lose in extras. May 6th: With an open base in a tie game against King Felix and the Mariners, Ozzie lets Humber pitch to the only hot hitter on the Mariners at the time (Justin Smoak). Smoak doubles, and even though the Sox tie the score the next inning, the Sox go on to lose on a walkoff single. May 20th: After Santos blows a one run lead with 2 outs in the 9th against the Dodgers, Ozzie allows Santos to start the 10th. Santos clearly has nothing on his fastball, and the Dodgers smack him around the park for an easy extra inning win. May 28th: This game saw two huge blunders. First, in the 7th inning of that game, Ozzie (or Omar) has the 2nd baseman covering second on a steal attempt by one of the slowest base runners in baseball instead of staying in position with C. Patterson (a lefty hitter) up. Patterson hits a routine grounder to where the 2nd baseman should have been, and it goes for a hit. Toronto ends up taking a lead after that inning. That game goes to extras, and with a LHP on the mound and runner on 3rd with one out, Ozzie lets Dunn bat instead of Quentin. Sox lose June 4th: Against the Tigers, with 2 outs and man on third, Ozzie lets Crain pitch to maybe the 2nd best hitter on the planet in Miguel Cabrera. A home run into the right field bullpen later, the Sox lose an important game to the Tigers. June 10th: As Sergio Santos is one out away from a win against the A's, he has a complete meltdown. He allows 4 straight batters to reach with 2 outs, and clearly has no offspeed pitch and his fastball is straight as an arrow. With AJP begging Ozzie to pull him, Santos stays in the game to allowed a go-ahead 3 run double to Scott Sizemore. June 24th: In a scoreless game against the Nationals, Ozzie allows our worst bullpen pitcher (Bruney) to pitch to the red-hot Michael Morse with an open base and two outs. He homers, and despite Teahen's heroics, we end up losing the game in extras. July 17th: With the Sox looking to build momentum after the ASB, Ozzie leaves Humber in one batter too long to face VMart with runners on 2nd and 3rd, 2 outs. VMart singles in both, and Sox go on to lose by one. July 26th: In another important game against Tigers, Ozzie leaves Peavy in to start the 6th inning when the Sox are up 2-1. Not only does Peavy allow 3 runs to score, but Ozzie leaves him in to face 9 batters that inning. Sox lose 5-4 Cool story, brah Just kidding, it's 162 games and we can disect every loss on any team and on many of them you can find key moments where a manager makes or doesn't make a move that eventually costs his team the game.It happens to EVERY manager in basdball.
  11. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 12:53 PM) I second the boring-bad movement. It's really sad to think back and realize this team was fun to watch and in contention for about 6 innings on April 1st. They scored 15 runs, but gave up 10, and we were all like "Huh... well we won but didn't need that 10 runs given up...Oh well" it's literally all been downhill since then. +1 I remember someone posted in a game thread like in the first week of the season that it was gonna be a fun summer and I totally agreed...then Thornton had a meltdown and let the A's score like 4 runs in the 9th and we eventually lost in 10. A whole lot of suck has happened since then and they are a very boring team.
  12. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 02:41 PM) Ozzie actually made plenty of mistakes in 2005. I recall many times thinking that a game was won in spite of him. The one spot that jumps out at me was the bullpen. He'd continually run the wrong guys out there at the wrong time (Shingo, Vizcaino, and especially Marte), but the other guys in the bullpen were just so damn good (Politte, Cotts, and Jenks) or lucky (Hermanson) that they almost always cleaned up the mess when needed. You still gotta give the skipper some credit during that postsaeson run (El Duque vs the Red Sox, Geoff Blum ph in the 14th inn), I don't believe in luck, Ozzie deserves credit as much as anyone for 2005.
  13. To be honest, all this vitroil against Ozzie does kinda sadden me, I mean, how proud were we after 2005 and it has come down to this? I was an ardent Ozzie supporter because he pushed all the right buttons that magical year and ended a nearly century old age of futility, you just don't luck yourself to a WS title, granted, things have to go your way but as a manager, you still have to make the right decisions.Marlins manager McKeon said a manager doesn't become dumb, so wtf is up with OG and those boneheaded decisions he's made recently?Does he want to get fired?Maybe he doesn't care anymore?I really don't know but damn, nearly everyone here at ST wants him gone and deservedly so, I'm just amazed at how we got from 2005 Ozzie to this.
  14. Well, hopefully sox fans who read that article will come here to see for themselves if those allegations are true and after reading this thread, they'll see it was BS and maybe they'll become members of SoxTalk...
  15. QUOTE (Tex @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 06:55 AM) If Jr. stopped in the filibuster there are plenty of anti Mexican comments in regards to immigration. and that's why I hardly ever post in the filibuster, for too many folks, Mexicans=illegals, never mind that the US basically gangstered half of Mexico's territory in the Mexican-American "War".
  16. I call him Jean Pierre, sounds more Frenchy.
  17. Am I the only guy who would like to see LaRussa back in town? The dude's a douche but he's also a proven winner. I don't mind assholes as long as they get the job done. Douchebag winner>>>Classy loser
  18. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 12:43 AM) 'Get out of here you Mexican.' doesn't seem like something that would come from Soxtalk. It definitely doesn't paint of positive picture and is really stupid since Ozzie is from Venezuela. That kind of comment would be at least a 6 month ban at WSI. Yeah, I never read any anti-Mexican stuff like that here at SoxTalk, in fact, the opposite is true, we were all hyped last year when we thought we had a shot at Adrian Gonzalez...someone here called OG an illiterate redneck, which was strange. BTW, SoxTalkers for the most part know where each latin sox player comes, exp, Lexi=Cuban, Santos and CQ=Mexican, Rios=PR and so forth... Jr. should check his facts.
  19. Wow, that 1st base ump is a jackass, that was a quick hook
  20. I love De Aza's hustle. Typical, runners on scoring position with one out and wr can't push a run in.
  21. Hmmmm...what it all boils down to is basically an internet cat fight between an obnoxious spoiled brat vs an overpaid classy scrub who whenever he took to the batter's box, a collective groan could be heard at SoxTalk. And some people are actually getting all worked up about it...weird.
  22. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 12:40 AM) That was an excellent article. It wasn't bashing him at all. It's something the Dunn haters need to read. Nobody hates Dunn the person, seems like a nice guy, we hate that he got a huge contract and is producing what I basically could've given the White Sox at a much cheaper price.
  23. Meh, I won't opine on Mrs Teahen, but Mark is just not a very good baseball player and I'm glad he's gone...if only we could've sent OG, KW and about a half dozen scrubs we have to Toronto.
