The Democrat Thread
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 3, 2009 -> 02:50 PM) As much as people like Rush Limbaugh HATE to admit it, the GOP cannot sustain any sort of relelvant power without gaining moderate votes. And as long as the GOP caters to Rush Limbaugh, they will not win the moderate vote. There are simply too many moderate voters (like me, and I hate to speak for anybody, but I feel safe in doing it here) who realize that Rush Limbaugh is a dumb hack and will not stand to listen to his nonsense. It is pathetic that he is the most powerful and relevant voice in the GOP right now, but that really is the case at the moment and it's sad to see the party has fallen that far. I'm lapping it up as a democrat, with Rush as their leader, they've given up the middle to us and as long as they listen to divisive idiots like Limbaugh,Hannity,Coulter,Malkin etc.,and nominate the likes of Palin, they're gonna keep on losing. There are a lot more votes in the middle than on the right or left fringe.I'm having a blast watching them self destruct, lol.

The Republican Thread
I was watching Rush Limbaugh giving a speech to CPAC and I thought,as a political party you know you're in deep sh*t when you're reduced to having this clown as one of your movement's leaders.Outside of his dittohead fanboy base and other extreme right wingnuts, nobody takes this drug addict jerk seriously. As a democrat,I never hoped that W would fail even though I disagreed with almost everything he stood for because that would mean the nation would fail and I would be a traitor and a scoundrel that puts politics before country.I'm having a ball watching the GOP becoming an clueless irrelevant regional (read southern) party being led further into obscurity by reactionary blowhards...if and when the GOP gets serious and their adults take over and want to have a real debate on the future of our country that includes solutions other than government=bad and tax cuts,President Obama and the Democrats will be waiting...we won't be holding our breaths though.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 07:07 AM) That was considered normal for Greek soldiers to have fellow soldiers as lovers,so they were most probably all gay...not that there is anything wrong with that

300 has some of the worst acting I've seen in a movie in a long time, talk about over acting...just watched Death to Smoochy and was funnier now than when I saw it a few years ago,I highly recommend it.

QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Mar 2, 2009 -> 03:07 PM) Sorry...couldn't help it.. I just felt this wasn't spring training without a thread about it....it's become tradition it seems. Got me,I was about to go ballistic

White Sox Mount Rushmore
How lame that there isn't a sox player in the IL Mount Rushmore,I like Ditka as much as the next guy but a monkey could've guided the 85 Bears to a SB win,Buddy Ryan was looked upon as the leader of the defensive unit and it's the main reason we won it all that year...Thomas should be there representing the only team in Chicago that has won a WS within the last 100 years.

White Sox Mount Rushmore
QUOTE (Cochise @ Feb 26, 2009 -> 10:34 PM) So ESPN's Page 2 has this thing about Mount Rushmore's of sports, and with baseball they did 4 iconic faces for each club. According to ESPN, the Sox Mount Rushmore would consist of Frank, Luke Appling, Nellie Fox, and Shoeless Joe. Who would you put up there? I had 3 out of those 4 when I thought about it but instead of Fox I had Ozzie in mind to represent the 05 championship team.

2001 World Series
QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 01:13 PM) I almost always root for the American League, and no different that time. I mostly do too, but not when its the Yankees or a AL Central team (Detroit 06) or last year's upstart punks Rays.

Juan Uribe signs with SF
QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 30, 2009 -> 03:25 AM) Probably my least favorite Sox player of all time, which is saying a lot. Juanito, andate a la mierda, pendejo. Al menos Uribe fue parte importante del equipo que ganó una Serie Mundial para las Medias Blancas,y tu qué has hecho huevon?

Juan Uribe signs with SF
I hope it turns out well for Juan,he was a big part of the 2005 team and made a hell of a dp tandem with gooch.

Frank Thomas...
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 09:20 AM) I always loved the Big Hurt. One of my favorite baseball memories is going to Denver in 2005 when the Sox played there and seeing the Big Hurt hit a PH homer to dead centerfield. The fans at Coord Field went crazy for the Sox and the Hurt. He might be through now for sure, but I hope to see him back somewhere. The Sox connection is probably long over, but one can always dream. I'd love to see the Big Hurt as batting coach but I doubt that'll happen

Gotta Love Kenny Williams, Seriously
QUOTE (rangercal @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 01:40 AM) No it's not. I side with the GM of a MLB team, instead of the message-board poster. Make that a World Series winning GM over a 20 something year old message board poster...

Gotta Love Kenny Williams, Seriously
QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 12:15 AM) Way to put that stupid ass fan in his place. I mean my god, we win a World Series for the first time in 10 zillion years partly because of Joe f***ing Crede and some moron gets up and cracks some stupid pun about getting rid of Crede and his being a "pain in the back." Good job KW. How soon some of us fans forget. Man,I'm with you 200%,those guys from the 2005 team will always have my respect, its not like we're the Yankees and have a ton of rings and could be fickle about it...let's win a dozen more titles before we become obnoxious "what have you done for us lately" fans.(Yankee fans)

Silly Mariners-Quentin Rumor thread
As long as we're talking nutty trade rumors,I just heard through the grapevine (internets) that the Sox and Rays are close to a package deal that involves us sending Contreras,Fields and a prospect and in return getting Longoria,Upton and Jackson...OK,I'm made it up but I want to see if I can get a job at Bleacher Report.

Attendance numbers for the WS parade?
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Feb 4, 2009 -> 12:38 PM) I better stop watching the Hawks because I am not sure who the PBP man was before Pat Foley and I mean last year not his first go through or the PA address announcer before Gene Honda....crap and I was enjoying them so much. Oh well I better start my fan knowledge enhancement project by Wikipediaing Orval Tessia (sp?) The National Hockey League still exsists?Wow,I did not know that...it looks like my post rubbed some people here the wrong way and I guess I'm a bit older than the average fan here but you gotta know a bit about your favorite team, without knowing every single detail out there which is impossible. At least ya gotta know a few players from different eras, the sox did exsist before 2005.And I'm not claiming to be an expert at sox history since I started following them since the late 70s and many here weren't born yet,I realize that but I've read a bit on the history of the White Sox because I just find it interesting and not to try to claim that I'm more of a fan but there a bandwagon fans who were sox fans in 05 and would be Cub fans if they were to make it to the WS,those are the "fans" I was slamming.
-
Attendance numbers for the WS parade?
Unfortunatly there were many a bandwagon type fan in attendance that couldn't name you one member of the South Side Hitmen or don't know who Jimmy Piersall is and didn't know that Harry Carey first started his take me out to the ballpark with the White Sox.

HAROLD AND THE HALL ... Put em in
He is a HOFer in my book, then again I'm biased,he was my baseball idol growing up.

Your '09 White Sox Lineup
I like Thome but if we do get Abreau,I'd like to see him DH or platoon with Dye at RF,we could move Thome but I don't think you'd get much in return for an aging slugger who strikes out a lot and has had injury issues lately... Dye,I suspect would be the odd man out.

In need of a baseball fix?
The Carribean Series is more like soccer's Champions League, where it's not really nation vs nation,it's baseball team representing that country's baseball league since you can have foriegn born players in each team from Puerto Rico,Mexico,Venezuela or Dominican Republic...where's Cuba anyway? They should be there.
