  1. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 11, 2015 -> 01:58 PM) yeah laroche should be playing 1b everyday Can Abreu play RF?
  2. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Apr 11, 2015 -> 01:48 PM) I like Soto so much more than Flowers. Without a doubt, not hard to beat, but ....
  3. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 11, 2015 -> 01:41 PM) Why after 4 games and 2 innings You serious?
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 11, 2015 -> 01:40 PM) Ventura really needs to be on the hot seat. Also, I hate Notre Dame! ^This ... On both fronts
  5. I honestly think Flowers has a lot to do with this. He can't hit either, so would much prefer trying with a veteran game caller. What's Karkovice doing right now? AJ?
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 11, 2015 -> 01:35 PM) Bad defense at all corners of the field and catcher... Total opposite of KC. ... and the model that won us a championship
  7. QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 11, 2015 -> 01:34 PM) I'm sure he doesnt know he's a free agent at the end of the season Maybe we should offer that extension now
  8. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Apr 11, 2015 -> 01:07 PM) So this may sound like a dumb question, but I want to know. Is WGN no longer showing games nationally? Games no longer allowed to be shown on WGN America apparently
  9. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Mar 16, 2015 -> 11:01 AM) Micah is leading the team in a lot of categories sofar. http://espn.go.com/mlb/springStats/_/team/chw Bonifacio certainly is not..................
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 11, 2015 -> 01:03 PM) ... one thing Hahn really like about LaRoche in addition to production, is make up .... How did that work out with Dunn? Thread should be Adam LaRoche vs. Adam Dunn ... No more low .200s Adams pls, mark my words.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 13, 2015 -> 09:09 AM) You do know in 1986 he picked Bonilla in the rule 5 don't you? Trading him probably turned out well for the White Sox. A few more wins the next couple of seasons, they might not have had McDowell, Ventura, Thomas and Fernandez later on. And if Soxtalk were around in 1986, LaRussa would have been about as popular as Robin Ventura if he brought Cleto in to close a 1 run game with the bases loaded. I think Larry Himes did a pretty good job as Hawk's replacement. I doubt Dombrowski, if he would have been the replacement had Hawk kept him around, would have been able to match. Hawk wasn't a great GM. He will be the first to tell you that. But it wasn't nearly as bad as a lot of people made it out to be. The 1986 team was doomed. Burns was done. Seaver wanted out. James was done. Hawk got Bonilla, who eventually turned into Lance Johnson. He also got Calderon who was pretty good, and became Tim Raines. Hawk got the job because the minor league system was worse than it has been at any point the last 20 years. The year before they drafted the great catcher Kurt Brown in round one. The next pick.........Barry Bonds. Fair enough ... Only take issue with 'it was worth losing for years because it brought us better players later'
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 12, 2015 -> 08:54 PM) http://www.sportsonearth.com/article/10899...44367-658620023 Royals 10th That is an absolute joke ... Royals 10th w/o Shields, Butler, and Aoki? (not to mention 13-6 vs the White Sox last year) ... team is immediately back to the doormat of the AL Central.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 13, 2015 -> 08:44 AM) He had a lot of his normal platitudes(best offseason by a GM i have ever seen, etc.) You mean better than he did in 1986? Getting rid of LaRussa, Dombrowski and Bonilla?
  14. Pls rename this the PECOTA thread.... "I don't know. But whatever it is, I hate it. " - Bart (Blazing Saddles)
  15. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 14, 2011 -> 02:15 PM) Do you want them to run negative? Yes
  16. We have a Shark one year rental, so if this is the year to go for it, why not add another one-year guy to complete the rotation? Not free, but wouldn't be too expensive, so let's go all-in, no? Especially with Mad Max out of the division, we have a real shot at this, let's do it... Doug wants to be back in the AL Central. Lot of competition, but could be the final piece...
  17. Actually think this helps us trade him....
  18. 19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 5, 2015 -> 01:42 PM) I have also read over and over again during the years that the ownership takes no money out of the franchise, and instead re-invests those funds. Investors bought the team for x and it is now worth................ No need to take money out, it's a free ride up the MLB valuation curve. Cash flow comes out of the parking lot.
  20. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 30, 2014 -> 12:31 PM) right now, i am more concern in having a backup plan / platoon for Avi and Eaton. Know the thread got zero traction recently, but his name is Ichiro: "The 41-year-old batted .284/.324/.340 in 385 plate appearances for the Yankees last season. Ichiro is clearly no longer the player he once was, but both Ultimate Zone Rating and Defensive Runs Saved pegged him as an average defender in right field this season, and he’s still a skilled baserunner, as evidenced in part by his 15-for-18 mark in stolen bases." - MLBTradeRumors.com / Fangraphs
  21. QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jan 5, 2015 -> 10:33 AM) I think Jordan Danks' future just got a little cloudier. Thank goodness ... embarrasing watching him at the plate for a MLB team
  22. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 11:09 PM) It's going to be retired with #14. They left two spots on the wall of retired numbers. Wow, we have a very low bar then. No way Ozzie deserves to have a number retired. Average SS, Rowand and Crede had more to do with clubhouse chemistry in 2005 than Guillen, he was just the clubhouse clown.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 21, 2014 -> 10:35 AM) Merry Christmas, the s***ter is full! Honey, did you check our s***ters?
  24. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 26, 2014 -> 12:11 PM) Ditka worked for one season, after that he wasted the talent that was on those Bears teams. And I'm pretty sure the best part of that Superbowl team was winning the Superbowl... Buddy Ryan, not Ditka, is the reason the Bears won the Super Bowl...
