  1. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Oct 8, 2011 -> 03:35 PM) How about Frank Thomas as a hitting coach. I thought that he said in an interview that he would do it. Also, that move would get a lot of support from White Sox fans. For bench coach, how about Fisk? I know that "no experience" again. But, catchers seems to make good coaches/manager. And again a fan favorite. When Kenny was asked about the possibility of Frank as the hitting coach on Chicago Tribune Live, he said: “I have talked about that with Robin and because we've had so much growth within our system and we got so many young players as well as guys trying to rebound, we are probably going to stay within the organization. We've still got to have some conversations on it and whether or not Frank is spoken to about or not, that'll be Robin's choice at the time. But I'm thinking initially, because we have history with some of our young players that have now come through and have performed well, we'll probably stick with that. But Frank will undoubtedly be welcomed to add any advice he has and he'll be part of the family because he is who he is and he's got a lot to offer.” http://www.csnchicago.com/10/06/11/Thomas-...mp;feedID=10338
  2. Looks nice, I would have preferred this pose though:
  3. Peavy story updated on ESPN Chicago with quotes from Ozzie: http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/news/story?id=6240184 I'm kinda glad Ozze's pissed. Peavy's all "I'm feeling good," "Only regular pitching soreness," but now all the sudden he admits he's been feeling this since after the Angels game? The dude isn't just playing Russian Roulette with his recovery, but with the preparation necessary for the season. It's kinda selfish.
  4. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Feb 13, 2011 -> 02:33 PM) Here is a guy we should seriously consider: * Jeremy Bonderman- I know he isn't the 2006-07 Bonderman anymore- but as a 5th starter and some spring training tweaking- we may catch lightning in a bottle here. I liked the way he was throwing the ball late in the year as well. I'm definitely in favor of picking up Bonderman on a minor league deal.
  5. Always thought Mark was a classy guy. This comment was far from that. Should've just kept it to himself. Vick paid his debt to society, regardless of what you think of the crime. Does Mark get as mad about a Ray Lewis or a Donte Stallworth, athletes who killed people? I'd bet not.
  6. Doesn't sound like the Yankees have a 'big chance' to me, he doesn't want to go there.
  7. Wow, what a gift! 5 straight please, indeed.
  8. Oney said it perfectly on his own Twitter: http://twitter.com/OneyRoberto/status/10747065538
  9. My list: Dunn, Branyan, Cust, Ka'ahuie, Hermida, Damon, Thome.
  10. If we get a solid draft pick, who would you want to see the Bulls take? I'd really like Iowa State's Craig Brackins or Georgetown's Greg Monroe. Both are players with height, size and have offensive post games, things we desperately need. Brackins (6'10, 230) is a pro 4, versatile offensive game, can go inside/out. Monroe (6'11, 250) could possibly be a pro pivot, putting up some good numbers for the Hoyas (13.8ppg, 10rpg, 1.3bpg).
  11. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 01:04 PM) I would love to try to get Kila Ka'aihue, if he can be had. We have zero depth for 1B behind Paulie right now (in the minors I mean), unles Viciedo is a 1B. And having a lefty power bat would be helpful. His AVG dropped last year in AAA, but his other numbers are all pretty good, and I see a lot of potential there. This. I definitely wouldn't mind getting him.
  12. Great win the Bulls gutted out tonight. Bulls are now atop the Central division. Be real nice if they could stay there for awhile.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 07:23 PM) I see a 1-2 wild pitch coming up
  14. QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 08:07 PM) Wagner on being a cancer: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/16/sports/b...amp;oref=slogin http://www.clubhousecancer.com/clubhouse_cancers/ Wagner has come off as an ass various times in his career, but in that particular instance I think he was in the right. Beltran, Delgado and other players routinely avoiding the media is not very professional. They should be accountable, and he was within his right to mention it, especially when the media is asking for his thoughts on a game where he didn't even affect the outcome.
  15. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 06:29 PM) You know what would make me happy? Going to the Metrodome and not hearing the embarrassing comments which come out of Hawk and Soxtalk concerning the stadium. It's f***ing pathetic listening to people blaming everything on a the dome. And it irritates me watching games because our players become little women there. They believe the stories of vengeful baseball gods living in the bowels of the HHH dome, and as such, consider no lead safe and every misplay or opportunity wasted as a "here we go again" moment. Amen. I'm with you all the way on that.
  16. He was awesome to watch. The kind of boxer who'd take a hard shot just to deliver a harder one. Seemed absolutely fearless in the ring. RIP, "Thunder" Gatti.
  17. Pargo is a solid pickup. Always liked him. Gives us another ballhandler and a shooter.
  18. Phil Hartman's and Walter Payton's deaths truly saddened me. This is a very minor celebrity, but Merlin Santana's (he played Romeo on The Steve Harvey Show) death saddened me for how petty and stupid an issue it was over. Some underage girl tried to holler at him. He gave her no play, she then ran to some goons and claimed he raped her, and they killed him on some wannabe street justice. Real senseless stuff.
  19. QUOTE (dbaho @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 11:12 AM) Lemme ask this question to Bulls fans.... Would you rather AI or Nate Robinson on a 1 year deal?If those were the only two options at gunpoint, I'd choose Krypto-Nate. But I don't think either is a great fit. AI showed a complete lack of maturity when he didn't start, and diminishing skills when he did. Nate is a chucker with a selfish attitude. I realize you have to have a certain swagger when you're that small just to make it to the NBA, but he takes it too far at times, imho. Before either of them, I'd rather the Bulls pick up someone like Flip Murray, Rashad McCants, Von Wafer, guys who can be a "microwave" scorer off the bench, or a low risk/high reward pick up like Rodney Carney or Marquis Daniels. Morris Almond would've been a great make-good pickup, but the Knicks already signed him. He was an elite scorer in college at Rice and in the NBDL who couldn't get a shot under Jerry Sloan. They may give DeMarcus Nelson or Anthony Roberson a chance. Roberson was okay, almost Pargo-like, in limited minutes last season. Nelson had some decent games with GS before the Bulls signed him.
  20. Johnson was pretty effective as a role player in Phoenix. He dominates the ball in Atlanta because honestly, he is their best player. They don't have a ton of ballhandlers with good hoops IQ, just him & Mike Bibby.
  21. Artest says he's signing with the Lakers, Lakers have no comment. Ariza met with Rockets, perhaps a sign-and-trade brewing? Adding Artest will seal up the lack of toughness the Lakers showed vs Denver. Ron Ron is that rugged presence they didn't have, though he is older than Ariza. But Ariza's agent called the $5.6 mil per year mid-level exception offer from the Lakers "a slap in the face", so it's clear Ariza is more concerned with getting paid than winning another ring. Gortat verbally agrees with the Mavericks. Report out of Spain is saying Rubio to stay in Spain for 2 more years.
  22. Good luck in Detroit, BG. I'm not stressing his departure at all. A nice player but not worth the money he got. LeBron is recruiting Artest for the Cavs.
