Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
Wait, did we just go from Bailey for Dye to Peavy for Dye? Why would the Padres take an aging RF when they're trying to rebuild?

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
Getz is exactly the type of player the Padres would want.

Coop's on Mully and Hanley, right now.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (Ozzie's Accent @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:18 AM) I could see the Padres asking for Alexei. That's a damn good point. Great contract, and Alexei would be a good fit for that ballpark. However, he does not fit the Moneyball type of approach they've got going on out their.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
Have we reached any consensus on the players? We talking CR/AP, Shelby, ETC. Or any of the premier offensive prospects? IF we're trading Richard and Poreda something tells me this organization really loves Dan Hudson, or it's all about Peavy which is badass in and of itself.

2009 MLB Pre-Draft Discussion
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 21, 2009 -> 01:36 AM) It would all depend on his health. That's the only reason he didn't go in the first-round last year. If he's medically cleared to go, I'd be all over him. He's been cleared, therein lies the problem, who would pass on a healthy Tanner Scheppers?

Scott Schoeneweis' Wife Found Dead
I can't possibly imagine what it must be like to get this call. Scott's been through a lot of crap in his life, some of it deserved, but no one deserves this. My hearts goes out to him and his family.

I just read this on BBTF. Is KW really going to pull this rabbit out of a hat?

I'll make a confession too. I liked Terminator 3. The ending was one of the ballsiest things i've seen in film

Books Thread
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 20, 2009 -> 12:46 PM) The book, which is short, is pretty good. Not great, but entertaining. Actually, the book Jurassic Park was a decent read, far better than the movie. I'm a big Crichton fan (RIP) Actually still making my way through the Great Train Robbery, then moving on to Eaters of the Dead.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!
I'd wager that Nix is the second best defender on the team, BA being the 1st. I imagine he'd succeed anywhere on the infield, which is why making him play LF is ridiculious.

Pure Spectulation
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ May 20, 2009 -> 06:51 AM) I would sweetn up the pot by offering Dye, Getz and Dotel. Is their anyone else you'd like to offerfor a guy whose tools are yet to fully match his numbers, and may or many not even perform at the Major League level?

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 20, 2009 -> 12:00 AM) Gonzalez is speculating that Contreras could eventually take Floyd's place in the rotation. According to BA he was throwing first pitch forkballs for strikes last night. Floyd is out of options so I presume he would move to the bullpen if this longshot (IMO) comes true. Here's the question. If Floyd has another 3 or 4 starts like his last 3 or 4 do you risk losing him and his new contract by exposing him to waivers? Considering in his last 21 starts his ERA is about 6.00 it would have to be a consideration. Putting our (like it or not) number #2 starter for the forseeable future on waivers is never a good idea. Ever.

Draft Profile - C Diego Seastrunk, Rice
Rice tends to produce a lot of pitchers, correct? What's their track record like with positional talent?
-
Draft Profile - 3B Bobby Borchering, HS Florida
Borchering seems to be very adept at squareing the ball up at the plate. His swing is level, no real mechanics issues, and his fielding seems fine, he'd be a good pick, for anyteam other then us. Given our massive organizational logjam at third, but if we're drafting for talent alone, he might be worth a gander.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!
QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 20, 2009 -> 12:00 AM) BA had more bad luck. Hit some solid shots, but Crede just robbed him twice. I should have mentioned that. His first two at-bats were great. He worked the count, and hit the ball hard. No one can blame him for that, even if it won't show up in the boxscore.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!
This one was damn near perfect for me. Everyone except for Fields and BA really brought it today.

Apart from Fields, i love our approach to the plate today. We're patient, this is how we shoud be playing the game.
