  1. Bears fans cheered for Brandon Marshall for 3 seasons. I don't think any of us would mind having Roethlisberger on the team.
  2. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 11:11 AM) Wow, well the initial hit and sack itself was clean. Burfict is a piece of s*** though and while I sometimes would give a player the benefit of the doubt on something like that in Burfict's case that was almost assuredly on purpose. Burfict's sack of Roethlisberger was fine. That's a football play. His hit on Brown was dirty as hell though. I think Shazier leading with the crown is worse than the play that the Bengals player got flagged for too. That was a bad penalty on the Bengals player. Great hit.
  3. I'd be very much on board with Dexter Fowler if they didn't have to forfeit a pick to sign him. He upgrades the team offensively and defensively and is a switch hitter. Giving up a 1st round pick for him would be lame though.
  4. Connor McKnight will be the host of Pre and Post and White Sox weekly on WLS for the White Sox. I like the hire. Connor is young and really knows baseball. He's very interactive with the fans and should be a welcome addition. http://www.robertfeder.com/2016/01/11/robs...n-deck-for-wls/
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 02:16 PM) This is a nonsequitir. Millions of people support Trump and millions are "terrible" people? I would venture to say thousands of people who like/support Trump are good people. I bet they donate to great causes, etc. I don't think you need to be a terrible person to support Trump. Some people flat out are sick of politics and definitely want a change and right now Trump is the only candidate certain to shake it all up. You can't tell me some Trump supporters are not, in fact, great individuals. Yeah I think I can. They breathe with their mouths, root for the Packers, and chant USA in large groups. Just the worst kind of people.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 01:28 PM) Now trade Cutler to Miami and it all would have been worth it. Why would they do that?
  7. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 01:39 PM) We all knew Gase was gone. I have confidence in John Fox to hire the right guy to fill the OC position. It's going to be a promotion for Dowell Loggains. Which is fine. I think Whisenhunt will go back to San Diego.
  8. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 02:01 PM) I don't believe they are truly negotiating. They are offering the least with a take it or leave it attitude. It only serves to let the gullible fans believe they tried. When was the last time the White Sox won on an in-demand free agent? This is a really bad post.
  9. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 12:32 PM) Carson Went looks pretty impressive He's always been impressive. Would be a household name at a bigger school.
  10. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 10:01 AM) Khris Davis would be nice but he's only played LF in the majors which means the Sox would have to play Melky or Avi in RF. Braun would be a nice bat to add but only if the Sox weren't expected to give the few remaining top prospects they have left. Sox will have to play Melky in RF if they sign Cespedes too
  11. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 11:09 PM) Could be posturing. Seriously, it's not THAT farfetched for them to be in on one of these outfielders. Yeah it is. It's not Mark Shapiro's style.
  12. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 05:08 PM) The three year thing is still really frustrating (since we now know it is not posturing), as is (to me) our interest in Gonzalez. It is totally posturing actually.
  13. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 25, 2015 -> 12:39 PM) Take it for what's its worth but according to MLBTR this is the latest comp round picks after the Murphy signing. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/12/upda...raft-order.html COMPENSATION ROUND (bonus picks given to teams who issued qualifying offers to players who signed elsewhere; picks are allotted in inverse order of 2015 record) 27. White Sox (for Jeff Samardzija signing with the Giants) 28. Nationals (for Jordan Zimmermann signing with the Tigers) 29. Mets (for Daniel Murphy signing with the Nationals) 30. Dodgers (for Zack Greinke signing with the Diamondbacks) 31. Cardinals (for John Lackey signing with the Cubs) 32. Cardinals (for Jason Heyward signing with the Cubs) Best Case Scenario for White Sox would be signing Cespedes and then: Ian Kennedy/Royals, Yovani Gallardo/Astros, Justin Upton/Angels, and Ian Desmond/Padres. That would give the White Sox the 25th pick and doesn't account for Fowler, Kendrick, or Chen.
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 11:47 AM) Presuming since Upton has not yet signed, technically the comp pick doesn't exist (and won't exist until he signs). So the reported statement is technically true, right now, they would lose the 2nd round pick, however, upon Upton signing a deal (as long as he doesn't end up not signing until after the draft), it will instead be the comp pick that goes (vs. the draft pick). Semantics haha
  15. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 11:38 AM) Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 7m7 minutes ago Sources: #Padres still talking to SS Alexei Ramirez, as first reported by @MLBBruceLevine. Would require shorter term than Desmond. Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 7m7 minutes ago Signing Ramirez also would enable #Padres to keep 2nd-round pick (1st pick, No. 8 overall, is protected). SD could get six picks in top 100. They wouldn't lose that pick. They'd lose the Upton pick. Why do insiders keep saying things like this?
  16. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 11:33 AM) Would you rather: Sign Cespedes and then sign Desmond to a 1 year prove it again deal worth 11-13 million, then offer him a QO after this year and recoup that pick for the 17 draft. Sign Cespedes and resign Alexei to a 1 year deal 5-7 million dollar deal. Sign Cespedes and let Saladino be the bridge to Anderson. Thoughts? I'd sign Cespedes and let Saladino play SS. I'd try to spend the $$ that would be spent on Ramirez on a RHP
  17. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 11:01 AM) http://www.baseballessential.com/news/2016...asyleaguegm.com White Sox wouldn't lose their 2nd round pick. They'd lose the Samardzija pick.
  18. QUOTE (blackmooncreeping @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 11:13 AM) So what happens to the team that signs Fowler, assuming it isn't the cubs? Do they still lose a pick, and if so, to whom? The system doesn't work that way anymore. If a team with a late 1st rounder signs Fowler, they lose the pick. However, the Cubs would then forfeit that selection "in the comp round) because they signed 2 free agents with QO's.
  19. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 09:47 AM) And Avi at DH? And Avi not on the team. Melky at DH. LaRoche sitting.
  20. QUOTE (blackmooncreeping @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 10:55 AM) Posted this in the Cespedes thread previously but thought it might warrant a separate thread; feel free to move if needed. I really don't want to give up the pick for him, especially to the Cubs, but Fowler is an intriguing fit as a secondary option after YC/JU. It's not as splashy, but he could play an effective CF and it would allow us to move Eaton to LF and put Melky in the DH spot. And I think most importantly, Fowler would fit perfectly in the 2 hole and provide the Sox with 2 guys at the top who get on base at a good clip in front of the heart of the order. And Sliding Melky down to 5th or 6th in the lineup is a better spot for his bat to produce imo. Having said all that, I of course prefer Cespedes The Cubs won't be getting a pick for Fowler because they signed 2 QO free agents. I wouldn't give up a pick for Dexter Fowler. I'm pretty sure Sox won't give up a pick unless it's for Upton
  21. QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 09:06 AM) I didn't know Boers was retiring. Wow, when did they announce that one? They haven't yet. I know someone that knows Terry Boers' son and he all but confirmed it.
  22. I honestly wouldn't mind Sands as a bench option. He could play RF vs LHP if the Sox land Cespedes.
  23. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 08:35 AM) Yes sir. We need as many of the QO free agents to sign with teams that haven't given up their first round pick yet as well as the Padres (likely landing spot for Desmond). The Padres would lose their highest comp pick for doing this which would move the Sox into the 2nd spot in comp round. Good call
  24. QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 05:24 PM) I wonder how this will effect the Score broadcasts. Boers is retiring after the Super Bowl so that should shakeup the lineup. Not sure what 670 decides to do. Bernstein will need a new partner but they are going to be preempted a ton by Cubs baseball.
  25. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 10:02 AM) http://www.royalsreview.com/2016/1/6/10724...her-ian-kennedy Royals moving on Ian Kennedy, with links to Cliff Lee, Latos and Gallardo as well. Chen and Fister given lesser consideration...Chen too expensive + Boras. Ian Kennedy to the Royals would give the White Sox a higher draft pick. So that helps.
