  1. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 10:58 AM) Hahn did speak about if they signed player the Sox would be looking for a back loaded deal beyond '16 when Danks/LaRoche contracts are done but that different than what Knightengale said about LaRoche and why the Sox are looking to trade him. I don't doubt the Sox are looking to move LaRoche, I doubt Knightengale's reason seeing as how the Sox will have to eat money in order save just a bit. Trading LaRoche is about opening up the DH spot. Open up the DH spot and the Sox have more flexibility. Melky goes to DH, RF goes to Thompson, LF goes to Avi or FA/trade bat. Hell, the Sox would be able to platoon Avi/Melky at DH. I like LaRoche as a person but he isnclogging up the DH spot and suffocating the teams flexibility. Eaton should go to LF and Trayce to CF in they could somehow move LaRoche.
  2. I'd actually rather keep Laroche and bet on a bounce back year than dump his contract for nothing. It doesn't make sense. White Sox are not going to eat most of the deal and then spend $$ on someone else. That's not how they operate.
  3. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 10:25 AM) Teams are targeting SS Tim Anderson, #White Sox's No. 1 prospect, as well as pitching prospects in trade talks. https://twitter.com/philgrogers/status/674263367234789376 Can we stop posting the opinions of Phil Rogers? Of course teams are asking for Anderson.
  4. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 09:50 AM) I was only counting deals when Hahn was "officially" the GM, whatever that means. who knows who is responsible for anything. Hahn was the GM that re-signed Sale, Q, and Eaton. Hahn has been the contract negotiator for the last 10 years though.
  5. QUOTE (shysocks @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 09:49 AM) For real. Cards have Wong at 2B so I guess they'll move Gyorko to short? I wouldn't want Gyorko on the Sox, and we have all kinds of room for him in the infield. They have Peralta at SS
  6. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 09:41 AM) He's gotten a pass due to Abreu, but that is not a lifetime pass, I hope. Well and the phenomal deals that Sale and Quintana are signed to. He's a magician for those. Eaton's contract is a bargain too.
  7. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 09:34 AM) If that's the case, then Hahn isn't actually shopping LaRoche. Nightengale tweeted that they were looking to move him to re-allocate the money towards a bat. Nowhere does it say anything about eating $$. Reinsdorf settled for Leury Garcia in return for Rios because Texas took the $$. They don't eat $$ in trades.
  8. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 09:32 AM) $46 for Cabrera, $25 for Laroche, $15 for Duke...starts to add up. That's not s*** in the grand scheme of the game though. Some teams have $100 million mistakes.
  9. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 09:24 AM) Phil Rogers ‏@philgrogers 4m4 minutes ago #WhiteSox exploring Japanese 3B Nobuhiro Matsuda. He hit a career-high 35 homers last year for #Softbank. Well timed move to US. Now this, I could get on board with.
  10. I doubt they eat any of it. Not their MO honestly.
  11. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 07:49 AM) Also, am I alone in thinking that Ezekiel Elliott, Dalvin Cook and Leonard Fournette are all better than Derrick Henry? Nope. They are all better. Their NFL prospects are all much better
  12. Haha of course it's Bob Nightengale doing Kenny a favor. As soon as I heard this today I knew who tweeted it.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 03:10 PM) Is Oklahoma for real? They have a 25% chance of winning the National Title
  14. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 10:50 PM) Trade for Brett Lawrie. Sign Asdrubal Cabrera to 1 year $6.5 million deal. I think my predictions are going to come true.
  15. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 12:36 PM) This isn't at you, but I just don't see why people are so scared to make threads. Just do it. Thread creating isn't sacred. It's about the same effort as a reply. And this way, way more people see it and are more informed rather than hoping they wonder into the correct page of some 100 page catch all. The Soria thread probably got more replies already then it would buried somewhere. Just my .02. For sure. There is a Minter Meetings Day 1 thread though.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 12:25 PM) Dumb or not...it is the rules. And dumb is open to debate. Honestly though: Do you want an individual thread made for every free agent that signs?
  17. I'll guess that it's Holmes and Verdugo to Cincinnati.
  18. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 08:54 AM) Why not go after Kendrick insted? Qualifying Offer and he's 32 years old.
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 08:52 AM) Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan 47m47 minutes ago How exorbitant is the price on Jose Fernandez? Sources say the Marlins have asked the Dodgers for Julio Urias and Corey Seager. Dodgers said no -- can't imagine Seager going anywhere for anyone -- but the sides have continued talking about plenty, including Fernandez. So the Dodgers will not be acquiring Sale either obviously with Seager off limits.
  20. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 08:24 AM) you make a great point. if upton is signed, would the sox loose the 2nd rounder instead of their comp pick?? They would lose the comp pick.
  21. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 08:31 AM) and it is still not a far fetch idea. the sox and the northside have traded in the past. They traded Neal Cotts for David Aardsma. That was the last time.
  22. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 08:18 AM) MSU is a bad matchup for Alabama. MSU's achilles heel is pass defense and Alabama hasn't shown a consistent passing game. Also, MSU has a good passing game that can target the weakest (relatively speaking) part of Bama's defense. I think Oklahoma is a bad matchup. Bama has trouble with spread teams. They'll handle Michigan State
  23. WHY ARE WE STILL PROPOSING CUBS AND WHITE SOX TRADES???????? It's not happening. This has to stop.
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 07:41 AM) Donaldson.made $4.3 million his MVP year, and won't be a free agent for 3 more seasons. Try again. Yeah and they sold way low. It was such a weird move. Lawrie and a couple back end starters. I believe they got a solid infield prospect as well but Donaldson just won the MVP. I know it's in hindsight but Addison Russell and Josh Donaldson would be a nice left side of the infield for a couple years.
  25. Levine as well as others have mentioned the White Sox looking at RHP starting options. I think they are trading Erik Johnson.
