  1. So I know that Bulls are in the middle of a season that hopefully produces a championship but Lebron injury helps their draft status. The Bulls receive the Kings 1st round pick this year if it falls out of the top 10. They are currently 12th and with the garbage in the East, they should stay in that 11-14 range. The Bulls also have the right to swap 1st rounders with Cleveland. Even if Cleveland picks #21 or so, trading with them will be advantageous. OUtside chance that the Bulls have 2 top 20 picks again this season. All thanks to the rarely talked about Luol Deng trade.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 31, 2014 -> 11:41 AM) Thats right. I knew they had two bigtime picks trading down, and Brees was an almost-first rounder Not so funny story from the 2001 draft: Bears had a deal to move up from #8 and take Ladainian Tomlinson. Bears ownership didn't want to pay the high contract cost. Then they were settled on taking Deuce McAllister at #8. David Terrell fell to them and after doing no background work on Terrell, they drafted him instead. Later, Bears had opportunity to move back into round 1 and take McAllister. Ownership didn't want to pay two 1st round picks and the deal never happened. Bears ended up with David Terrell and Anthony Thomas.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 27, 2014 -> 09:32 PM) What do you think of the state of college basketball, specifically Kentucky with the 9 McDonald's All-Americans? What are the odds UK wins it all? I'd say probably 92 percent, the other 8 percent the field. Living in a pro town as many of you do (Chicago) do you think college basketball is a total joke now in this era of one and done? I'm starting to think college basketball is a very weak feeder system to the big, bad, all-everything NBA. For example, I can almost guarantee you Cliff Alexander and Kelly Oubre are one and done at Kansas, yet as freshmen they are contributing like freshmen have done throughout history, meaning, not very much. Wiggins last year also exhibited traits of a freshman and by no means was dominant. Even Durant won one NCAA tournament game at Texas before moving on after his freshman season. Do you think college basketball has become very passe (shouldn't we just crown Kentucky and get it over with?) or do you think the college game is outstanding basketball? My take is this one and done thing has not helped the college game much and that currently when you talk about basketball you are only talking about the NBA, whereas you talk football and college is equally entertaining to the NFL. I think that Pro Sports are better than college sports because pro players are better than college players. I like the superior product that the NBA provides. I also truly believe that kids shouldn't be playing sports for free for any longer than they have to. I watch Kentucky all of the time because they have players that will play in the NBA. That's just what I prefer though.
  4. I hope Cutler doesn't go rogue and throw for 400 with 4 TDS. Bears lock up the 7th pick with a loss.
  5. Mike Shanahan wants the Bears job. Figured this news was coming. Bears like Todd Bowles as well according to Jason LaCanfora.
  6. Texas is out: Max Wildstein @MaxWildstein · 23m 23 minutes ago #Rangers did NOT place the winning bid of $5MM on Jung-ho Kang, sources tell @StevensonFWST. #MLB
  7. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 20, 2014 -> 10:58 AM) Disagree. He had a huge hand in taking Seattle to the SB a few years back, and with Cleveland, he was hired just to get rid of a ton of bad contracts and make the team look sell-able. Which of his QB picks was your favorite? Charlie Frye, Colt McCoy, or Brandon Weeden?
  8. And all these posts need to be in the NFL thread haha
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 01:40 PM) Unless he really is trying to get fired. He already knows that he's fired. In 10 days he will be gone. He is deciding to go out his own way. Cutler stopped running Trestman's offense so Trestman is having Clausen run it. Trestman is trying to place all of the blame on Jay Cutler to salvage an OC job for next year.
  10. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 01:12 PM) Benching the highest paid player in the league is going to need the OK from the GM and someone in ownership. No chance Trestman went rogue on that decision. Go do some reading. That is what happened. Many have said it. Trestman has control of the game day 53. He wants to make Jay Cutler the scapegoat and show that his offense works so that he can land another OC job somewhere. Jay Cutler is the #2 for Sunday. If they were preserving him, he'd be inactive. This is a Trestman decision.
  11. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 10:39 AM) Barnwell made a good point about this benching - doesn't it sort of suggest a deal is already in place to move him? Otherwise why give up your negotiating position so soon? If no deal is in place, the Bears have let it be known that they now HAVE to get rid of him. They've lost a lot of bargaining power. That's not what happened though. Trestman benched him to show that the system still works and Cutler is the problem. If Emery wanted to sit Cutler for 2 weeks, they would have made up an injury. It was a Trestman decision.
  12. Mike Holmgren is bad at his job. Good coach. Bad executive. Pass.
  13. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 09:59 AM) Padres are in Hahn mode. The Padres will be making a bunch more trades too. In their OF now they have: Kemp, Myers, Upton, Liriano, Maybin, Quentin, Seth Smith, and Will Venable. Good lord that's a ton of OF's.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 06:08 PM) Taking suggestions on the next show to binge watch. I've been considering Boardwalk Empire, Orange is the New Black, House of Cards and Banshee. The early seasons of Boardwalk Empire are tremendous. Still worth watching. I'd go with House of Cards. You'll fly through it.
  15. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 07:30 PM) The gist I get is that there could be some sort of hometown discount based on the market price, but ultimately he's going to get paid, and I think it could easily be a 9 figure contract. So like 6 years $105 million? 5 years $90 million? Something like that or more? I know he wanted Homer Bailey money before. 6 years $105 million.
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 05:02 PM) Apparently UMich offered Harbaugh 6/49M Harbaugh isn't going back to college. He watched his brother John and Pete Carroll win the Lombardi. He's staying in the NFL. Michigan had to leak that number to show their fan base that the offer was made.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 09:40 PM) What uni will he be wearing next season? Bulls. They'll end up paying way more than they would have this year. He will sign an offer sheet with someone and the Bulls will match.
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 07:34 AM) So Jermon Bushrod was doing some sort of promotional appearance with the Score yesterday, and during the course of the interview he admitted that they(most of the team) found out about the QB change just like everyone else did, through social media, NOT FROM THE HEAD COACH. Yep. Sounds like Trestman talked with the QB's on Tuesday. He was going to wait until Wednesday to tell the team and then the story was leaked Tuesday night (Probably from Cutler's camp). Only 10 days left of the Marc Trestman era.
  19. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 08:00 PM) Chris Cotillo ‏@ChrisCotillo 3m3 minutes ago Source confirms #Athletics have traded Derek Norris to the #Padres. First reported by @FeinsandNYDN. Oakland is trading everybody. Wow. Jane Lee ‏@JaneMLB 10m10 minutes ago According to @JeffPassan, the A's send Derek Norris and RHP Seth Streich to the Padres in exchange for RHPs Jesse Hahn and R.J. Alvarez. Not a bad deal for Oakland.
  20. Kiley McDaniel ‏@kileymcd 13m13 minutes ago Source: White Sox sign former Dodgers 1B Chris Jacobs to a minor league deal. 25 homers in the Cal League last year.
  21. QUOTE (WKamm @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 06:14 PM) He might be a good option at 2b. That will give Sanchez another year to develop. There's already a thread for this

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 01:14 PM) They are all nuts and loud. Oh yeah. Incredibly nuts.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 09:06 AM) Because many sure fire prospects have busted. Call it Tom Jones Syndrome... It's not unusual. Okay well I'm willing to say that he's going to be an absolute stud. If I'm wrong, I'll be the first one to admit it.
  24. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 10:49 PM) Really. Wow, I think you are getting way ahead of yourself. Hsve you seen his walk rate? That could be a real problem for success in the mlb. I actually think Rodon is more similar to David Price. Still an ace though. Carlos Rodon is a future #1 starter in the major leagues. Not sure why people are really doubting that.
  25. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 07:38 AM) I'd rather watch Fales. Not that it matters. Of course you would. So would everybody. Trestman is doing this, hoping that Clausen will run the offense properly and Trestman can blame Jay and parlay that into an OC job somewhere.
