2015 TV Thread
QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 17, 2015 -> 05:53 AM) I stopped watching Gotham a month ago and it seems they are trying to cram too much in season 1 with introducing that kid as the future Joker. The promos for it looked so cheesy to me. I think Shameless has been solid this season. The scenes move so fast anyway so that is something isn't clicking, it's off to next scene anyway. The Ian/mental illness stuff is well done. Last night's Gotham was originally the Season 1 Finale but then Fox ordered more episodes.

Baseball America Top 30
QUOTE (LDF @ Feb 16, 2015 -> 09:35 AM) before the players sox have picked were in the high risk players, if they met their potential, which in my opinion they haven't. That wasn't really the problem though. The problem was that Kenny Williams wanted high-upside athletes and Jerry Reinsdorf didn't want to spend any money on the draft. So what they did was start drafting high-upside athletes that were cheap. Because of this philosophy, they ended up with the Jared Mitchell's and Keenyn Walker's of the world. I blame JR far more than I do KW in this instance. The way the White Sox handled the draft under the old rules was disgusting.

2014-2015 NBA thread
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 12, 2015 -> 11:50 PM) It's been a disappointing first part of the season, but there are positives to build on going into the ASB. Jo is looking more and more active. Gasol and Jimmy showing no signs of slowing down. Derrick beginning to attack more, pulling out the old MVP moves. Shooting less threes. Snell gaining confidence. McDermott is healthy. Dunleavy is back. Kirk is on the bench at the moment. Well they are the 3rd seed in the East currently.

Baseball America Top 30
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 14, 2015 -> 12:54 PM) They have Sanburn on the OAK list, if I recall correctly. It's a good list, even if I don't agree with all of it. Surprised to see Adolfo, Smith, Lowry and Brennan that high. Also think they're too low on Danish and Barnum, and I think they are missing the boat not ranking Wheeler. He's not on Oakland's list. I asked Manuel and he told me that Sanburn isn't a top 30 player for him. I've liked BA for a long time but it's nuts to see guys like Mitchell and Wilkins on there instead of Sanburn.

Baseball America Top 30
Many have probably seen the list already but my handbook came in the mail today so I will share a little. 1. Carlos Rodon LHP 2. Tim Anderson SS 3. Spencer Adams RHP 4. Micah Johnson 2B 5. Francelis Montas RHP 6. Micker Adolfo OF 7. Tyler Danish 8. Trey Michalczewski 3B 9. Courtney Hawkins OF 10. Jacob May OF 11. Chris Beck RHP 12. Carlos Sanchez INF 13. Jace Fry LHP 14. Matt Davidson 3B 15. Kevan Smith C 16. Cleuluis Rondon SS 17. Thaddius Lowry RHP 18. Trayce Thompson OF 19. Tyler Saladino INF 20. Luis Martinez RHP 21. Brandon Brennan RHP 22. David Trexler RHP 23. Adam Engel OF 24. Jake Peter 2B 25. James Dykstra RHP 26. Keon Barnum 1B 27. Onelki Garcia LHP 28. Michael Ynoa RHP 29. Jared Mitchell OF 30. Andy Wilkins 1B Very interesting list. Disagree with a lot of it but they work really hard at Baseball America. They also listed Catcher Brett Austin at #31 and don't mention Nolan Sanburn in the book at all. Which is weird. White Sox listed as the #20 farm system in baseball.

LLWS Thread
I always just assumed that all of these teams were taking players from everywhere. Someone had to inform me that Little League/Travel are two different things. While it is justified to punish the JRW team for cheating, it is really hard to be up in arms over something that I would bet goes on all the time.

Spring Training TV broadcast and Internet streaming schedule up
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Feb 10, 2015 -> 01:11 AM) Shall we all make guesses on the first name that Melton will butcher? He already kept referring to our new closer as "David Robinson" at SoxFest, but I'm wondering when the games start and he has theoretically asked people how to say these names, and he STILL messes half of them up, who will be the first victim. The Rodon/Rondon thing has to stop from everyone. It's Rodon. And he's a stud. So we should remember his name. Brian Hanley yesterday morning called him Hector Rondon.

2015 MLB Draft Pool Projections
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Feb 9, 2015 -> 09:23 PM) Who do they Sox have one of the lowest INT payrolls in the league? And how do the Yankees have over 8 mil to spend? The White Sox forfeited their 2nd and 3rd round selections with the David Robertson and Melky Cabrera signings. Hypothetically, if the Sox had $3.4 million for their 1st round pick, $1.8 million for their 2nd round pick and $1 million for their 3rd round pick, they also lose the ability to spend that bonus $ allotted to the slots that were given up. That's why the pool is so low.

James Shields
In his insider piece, Keith Law speculates that Padres could now flip some of their pitching to Philly for Cole Hamels. I think Andrew Cashner and #1 prospect Matt Wisler is a nice start to a package that the Phillies would have to strongly consider. The Padres have really good SP depth and probably the 3rd or 4th best rotation in the NL.

Padres' Outfielders
Now that the Padres have re-worked their entire roster, I was looking at it from a White Sox perspective. San Diego has acquired Wil Myers, Justin Upton, and Matt Kemp to revamp their starting OF. They have 5 more OF's on their roster as well. Do any of these players interest anyone as the final piece on the 2015 White Sox roster? Alex Dickerson LH Will Venable LH Cameron Maybin RH Rymer Liriano RH Carlos Quentin RH

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 5, 2015 -> 11:11 AM) Aaron Bailey transferring from Illinois. That sucks, particularly with how fragile Wes Lunt has proven to be so far in his college career. It's good for Bailey though. Illinois still has to grant the release. NIU wouldn't surprise me. I'll see if I can get any info. I coach in his old HS conference.

Give me an off-season you enjoyed more than this 2014-2015...
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 29, 2015 -> 11:27 PM) Fun offseason for fans. But all we need to remember is Adam Dunn. The Sox acquisitions could all suck and the Sox could quickly resemble the Phillies or some team like that. I hope for the best and applaud Hahn. I just hope all these new guys are motivated and talented. I'm sorry but you aren't allowed to have this opinion. You always come in here and spew your nonsense about how you're a "free agency guy" and you could care less about draft picks and the future and what not. This year, the White Sox gave up 2 draft picks and signed multiple big ticket free agents. Be happy about it. What you wanted to happen happened.

2015 Recruiting thread
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 4, 2015 -> 12:36 PM) Yeah but this class was a bit weak on defense and that's already a weak spot. Offense is set for a couple years but you can't just count on outscoring everybody. For sure. I coach in the area and saw Boykin a few times. Actually, I coached against another ND recruit too; The Bolingbrook kid, Treadway.

2014-2015 MLB off season player movement and rumors thread
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Feb 2, 2015 -> 04:00 PM) Their catching situation is an absolute joke without Montero. Right now, their opening day catcher is Tuffy Gosewisch. A 9-year minor leaguer with a .239 minor league average. They are a good candidate to end up with Welington Castillo. He will be playing somewhere next year.

Rodon's next start will be at Charlotte
I know it already but I loved seeing Jim Callis downright giddy about Rodon. Thanks again to the Astros and Marlins for letting him fall.

MLB.com Top 100 list
QUOTE (thegringokid @ Feb 1, 2015 -> 11:04 AM) I really hope by mid-year Montas and Danish really put it together and have made excellent progress. Montas has been scouted to have high end reliever upside but I hope he becomes a solid mid-rotation starter (3/4 type). Danish I am not too sure about but he may also have mid-rotation potential. I think Montas will be a front of the rotation type if he pans out as a starter. Keith Law basically said he could be a #1 starter, a back end bullpen piece, or never make it in general. Such a wide range of factors for Montas with secondary pitch issues, body type, and injury history.

Keith Law's farm system rankings
Today, Law released his 10 that just missed the cut. Here is what he said about Francelis Montas: http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/...pectsJustMissed Francelis Montas, RHP, Chicago White Sox When I saw him in the Arizona Fall League, I thought for sure he'd make the list, but the list of factors working against him was too long. He has an 80 fastball, hitting 102 mph in instructs, but his command and secondary stuff aren't average yet, and he's already had two knee surgeries, possibly related to his girth. He might be a No. 1 starter, but there's a greater chance that he ends up a reliever, with all kinds of possibilities in between.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 30, 2015 -> 10:32 AM) Davidson 6th? Seems very high to me, for him at this point. I thought so too. He's always liked Davidson and still thinks that he can be a starting 3B or bench bat because of the power.
