  1. QUOTE (Lillian @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 10:49 AM) Adam La Roche is 35 years old. This isn't likely to improve. Here is what he hit vs. LHP last year, and the year before: AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI SB CS BB SO AVG OBP SLG OPS 137 13 28 3 0 5 16 0 0 15 43 .204 .284 .336 .620 131 11 26 6 0 3 12 1 0 9 38 .198 .254 .313 .566 81 strike outs in 268 at bats (33%) and an OBP well under .300. I'm sorry, but you simply can't have a clean up hitter hitting that poorly, vs. LHP. The opposing manager will go to the pen, for a LOOGY, every time he comes up, with men on base, in a close game, after the 6TH inning. Robin hasn't been batting LaRoche cleanup against LH starters though......
  2. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 09:30 AM) Is Hackenberg really that big of a prospect? I could see "suck for Luck", but Hackenberg wasn't all that good last year. People that box score scout think Hackenburg is bad. He was excellent 2 years ago under O'Brien. Wasn't really coached by James Franklin. This is an excellent piece about Hackenburg that sums up my thoughts on him very well: http://www.footballsavages.com/christian-h...ithout-context/
  3. For me the goal of this Bears season is officially, Be Horrible for Hackenburg
  4. At first, I was in the camp that was vehemently against him pitching out of the bullpen ever. I have changed my mind on that. People are acting like he's going to be a reliever for the whole season. I think the people that believe he should be starting right now would also complain when the Sox shut him down in early August. You can't have it both ways and I've accepted that. Rodon will most likely make 20-25 starts this season and be a rotation fixture for the next 6 years. It's really not that big of a deal.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 01:38 PM) That bothers me about as much as Sox fans being insecure about what the Cubs are doing. Hell I am more worried about the Royals/Tigers/Indians then I am the Cubs. I'd worry about the Twins, but they are awful. We disagree often, but we are in 100% agreement over this. Not really even a blip for me. I'd drop 4 of 6 to the Cubs every year if you could guarantee me a playoff berth still.
  6. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 01:01 PM) Again, your opinion. Am I not allowed to have my own? Just because that's your line of thinking doesn't mean it needs to be everyone else's opinion. I thought I already answered your question in my previous post. I find it very annoying to live in the Chicagoland area and to hear nothing but Cubs, Cubs, Cubs every day. White Sox are a complete after thought. You don't find that annoying? Or do you not live in the area? I live in the South Burbs. I just don't really care. The Cubs are more popular. Just the way it is.

Full House returns. Good lord. http://news.yahoo.com/full-house-revival-a...Tc4XzEEc2VjA3Nj
  8. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 12:44 PM) Not when you hear it everyday from co-worker and friends that are Cubs fans. Not to mention the local and national media...Very relevant, maybe not to you but it is to me. I am just happy that they no longer have the fall back of "well at least we have the best farm system in baseball and it doesn't matter that the big league team sucks because just wait until the big prospects come up." So now if they don't make the playoffs, I guess their response will be wait til next year when these guys are another year older etc? It's just annoying. Right but now the big prospects are up and they should legitimately be good for awhile. Why is that a bad thing? I want the Cubs to be good. It leaves the Sox under pressure to be good. Bulls*** arguments with Cubs fans ended for me in 2005.
  9. Great Grantland piece on Carlos Rodon: http://grantland.com/the-triangle/mlb-carl...cago-white-sox/
  10. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 12:13 PM) Per BA at the start of the year their top 10 prospects looked like this: TOP 10 PROSPECTS 1. Kris Bryant, 3b 2. Addison Russell, ss 3. Jorge Soler, of 4. Kyle Schwarber, c/of 5. C.J. Edwards, rhp 6. Billy McKinney, of 7. Albert Almora, of 8. Gleyber Torres, ss 9. Pierce Johnson, rhp 10. Duane Underwood, rhp Take away the top 3 and you are left with basically the quality of the White Sox current farm system, correct? They still have some HS pitching from last year's draft and Gleyber Torres and Eloy Jimenez that could really break out. Cubs are probably just outside of the top 10 with promotions. Why does it matter though? I hate comparing the White Sox and Cubs. Completely irrelevant.
  11. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 11:23 AM) This is a thing right now. http://espn.go.com/chicago/index?addata=1 Which team has the best infield in baseball? 69% Cubs 31% Other Discuss (Total votes: 1,523) Not sure it's the best infield in baseball right now, but if I were starting a team I'd take Bryant, Castro, Rizzo, and Russell over any foursome in baseball for sure.
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 10:51 AM) I think last night showed that Jimmy is now the clear #1 option on this team. Rose deferred to him quite a bit in that second half and with good reason. Well double-teamed Rose and Pau throughout. Butler stepped up big time. Once they double team Jimmy, Pau or Rose will look like the #1 option.
  13. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 07:02 AM) I Agree that I wouldn't expect a ton from Russell this year. They don't need a ton from him to be an improvement over their current poo-poo platter at 2B.
  14. Scott Darling starting game 4.
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 09:19 AM) Its Chicago, we want to fire every coach, even one of the all time greats. Do you think Quenneville is a better coach than Babcock?
  16. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Apr 18, 2015 -> 12:09 AM) Hearing things on a postgame show to the tune of "Fire Q if they don't win the cup this year" after splitting the first two road games in the first round of the playoffs- is this a normal thing? I'd fire Q in a second to hire Mike Babcock. That's probably the only way though.
  17. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 18, 2015 -> 10:06 PM) Doubt it happens, but it would be hilarious if McDavid pulls a Lindros. I'd much rather play in Edmonton than Buffalo.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 19, 2015 -> 05:43 PM) Pretty difficult for any freshman to start at LB in the Big Ten. I didn't mean it like that so I should have explained. There's a good chance he won't get on the field much at Ohio State. He's competing against the elite talent in the country where he'd probably be a 3 year starter at a lesser program. Probably tough to turn down Ohio State if they offer though.
  19. QUOTE (Lillian @ Apr 19, 2015 -> 08:55 PM) I would guess that the front office and coaching staff have seen enough of Quintana to suspect that he needs to be shut down. This is the first time that I can remember him looking this bad, and not being able to throw 93 - 94. This sudden loss of velocity is very alarming. At the least, they need to get him out of the rotation, and Rodon is the natural choice to replace him. Rodon is not coming up to replace Danks. Johnny is what he is, at this point, and the Sox, knowing that, have decided that he still has a place at the back end of the rotation, as an innings eater. In addition, there is his contract. All we can hope is that whatever is wrong with Quintana, that it's temporary, and that he'll bounce back. He is definitely not a #3 starter, at this point, and Rodon could very well be that, or better. What? Quintana will not be shutdown. He was a 5 WAR pitcher last year. He needs to stop docking around and throw strikes. Rodon will be in the pen, like they've said and then he'll take Noesi's rotation spot.
  20. QUOTE (Lillian @ Apr 19, 2015 -> 09:23 PM) I know it's early, but Sanchez had the second highest average of any Sox hitter in Spring Training, with a .425 avg. He went 2 for 3 in his only AB's, when the season started, and he has been on fire at Charlotte. His defense is outstanding, and I'd like to see him bat in the 2 hole, which would allow Melky to be moved into a spot where he could drive in more runs. In addition, he seems quite adept at batting second, which is a more valuable spot in the lineup than the 9TH hitter. Why not let Johnson have a full year at AAA, and earn a spot? Based upon what Sanchez did at Charlotte last year, and how he has come out of the "starting gate," he deserves a shot. No. And the organization agrees.
  21. My guess for how this shakes out: Drabek and Guerra DFA. Rodon and Petricka to the bullpen. Within 2 weeks, Rodon starting and Noesi taking long man job in the bullpen.
  22. I hate wasting any service time coming out of the bullpen, but I have a feeling it will be a very short-term bullpen stint to preserve his innings. WhiteSox need to clear a 40 man spot and 2 25 man roster spots before tomorrow. Drabek will surely be DFA but not sure what the other move will be.
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 19, 2015 -> 10:07 AM) Was as close to a Wisconsin lock as it gets. Surprised everyone. Yep. His dad played for Wisconsin. I'd go somewhere and start immediately instead of going to Ohio State but good for him.

QUOTE (sammy esposito @ Apr 19, 2015 -> 03:02 PM) I bought 3 tickets two months ago but I 'll be at US cellular tomorrow hoping that a Danks renaissance begins. Yikes. That's why I never get tickets that early. I wouldn't pay actual $$ if Danks/Noesi pitched.
