QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 12, 2015 -> 09:23 AM) The whole story is that Doug will get minutes when he is ready to be a guy who can contribute. A short spurt doesn't mean anything honestly. He'll play a ton next year for Hoiberg.

I actually think that is a really good list. Callis is very familiar with the White Sox system though. I am stunned that Thaddeus Lowry isn't black. Guess I should stop assuming haha

If Sam Bradford is healthy, he is a much better player than Nick Foles. Nick Foles just isn't that good. Still a big gamble by Kelly.

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 02:16 PM) When do the signings become official? 3pm ct or et? CT

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 10:24 AM) Yeah, but if you are drafting Petty then you probably don't have a QB as it is and are gonna get fired either way. Might as well take a chance. Why do you think guys like Ponder or Bortles get drafted in the 1st round? Because NFL teams very often make really bad decisions.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 10:05 AM) I don't think his age is really an issue. It's not like he is 29. Qb's have entered the draft at that age before and there have been plenty of qb who didn't start a game until they were 25 or 26. I think the biggest question with him is how much of his success had to do with the system he was in. He does have the size and arm to play in the NFL. He can also move around pretty well. I don't think taking a QB in the 3rd round is a fireable offense. If someone took him in the first round maybe. See I do because I don't think he's ever going to be an NFL starter. You need to get starters in round 3. Go look. QB's that were 24 at or around draft day. The next successful one will be the first.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 09:45 AM) Bonner would be a nice pick in the late rounds. Bryce Petty might be worth a pick in the 3rd round or so. Bryce Petty is undraftable for me. He's already 24. No QB has entered the league via the draft at 24 and ever been successful. He also is extremely inaccurate which is #1 quality in a QB. He is also injured all the time. I like to sum up Petty as old, bad, injured, and inaccurate. That's just my opinion but taking Petty in the 3rd round would be a fireable offense for me.

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 09:28 AM) All the QBs after Mariota/Winston are short and terrible. Hundley isn't short but yeah. Hundley is draftable because of his "skills". The only other QB I'd spend a draft pick on is Chris Bonner from Colorado State Pueblo. More intrigued by him than any of the other guys.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 09:22 AM) Like the second half of 2011 when Hanie & McCown saved the day when Cutler went down? Or the NFC Championship game that prior January? Yes, McCown had that great 5-game stretch. It happened, unexplainedly. But he has been awful since then, Trestman is long gone, so I'm not gonna act like that makes everything OK using backup QBs. Nor does one home loss by Jimmy Clausen change anything either Yep. Nobody is going to "fix" Jay Cutler. He is what he is: One of the 15 best QBs in the NFL. He will give you decent QB play and too many turnovers. Here is what I do know though: From 2010-2012, the Bears gave up 18 PPG. During that span, Cutler went 27-13 as a starter with an NFC Title game appearance. In 2009, 2013, and 2014, the Bears defense gave up 27 PPG. In that span, Cutler went 17-25 as a starter. Cutler is not Brady, Rodgers, Manning, Luck, or Brees. Stop expecting him to be. If they play defense, run the football, and play to Cutler's strengths, the team can win football games. It's really not that hard of a concept. Now if you hate him and think he's an asshole, that's fine. Just realize what he is.

The same people that want Rodon with the big club immediately would be the ones criticizing the Sox 6 years from now because they moved him before free agency.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 12:46 PM) Hes the worst reporter in sports so who cares what he has to say. The Bears can sign an FA or draft a WR that would produce the same as Marshall will this year, easily. He's not a reporter, he's a talk show host. And people are kidding themselves if they believe Bernstein doesn't have sources. He used to cover the beat. He knows people. He's a giant asshole but people need to separate that at times.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 09:25 AM) Aaron Leming @AaronLemingNFL 19m19 minutes ago Separate sources have confirmed that WR Brandon Marshall will be traded to the #Jets for a "late round" pick on Tuesday. #Bears Not sure if he cares that this is out there but Aaron posts on this site as SoCalSox. Good get for him. He's been on it all offseason.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 01:43 AM) Yeah, that's just silly. KD is the better player, 4x scoring champion and last year's MVP. A lot of fans are prone to being prisoners of the moment. Harden is a legit MVP candidate this season (Westbrook would be too if he didn't miss as many games as he has) and Durant is the reigning MVP. OKC had these three guys, that's just insane. Absolutely. Durant is still the better player. Westbrook is awesome but it's still about bigger guys and Durant is the 2nd best player on the planet. I've been having this conversation a lot lately. When starting a team, I feel like it'd be nuts to take Westbrook over Durant.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 10:02 PM) That's good. He's past his prime and seemed to be a major headache in the locker room. That being said, he was a hell of a player for the Bears. Always overshadowed by #54, he was probably just as good, if not better. Stop it. Not close. Briggs was a really good fit at WLB in the Tampa 2 defense. Urlacher is and was an absolute freak though. This is going to start a war but Brian Urlacher is the best LB in franchise history. Come on Butkus people, let me have it haha

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Mar 3, 2015 -> 11:42 AM) The "experts" on MLB Network this morning talked of Sale's injury and also discussed Rodon and Minoso. They mentioned the foot injury needing to be treated very cautiously because if it isn't healed properly and completely it can affect the pitchers motion and follow through. I think we have discussed that and certainly the Sox know all about the issues. Now they were critical of the Sox not handing Rodon a starting job right now questioning if he was really as advanced as the reports say he is. The consensus was if he has the wipeout pitches now he should be on the 25 man roster come opening day. But, they then went over his fastball, slide and changeup and were impressed. No he shouldn't be and won't be on the opening day roster.

Derrick Rose to have surgery on Torn Right Meniscus

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 28, 2015 -> 07:14 AM) So did they remove it or repair it? Conflicting reports. If he walked out of hospital, I'm assuming removed. They removed it. A Meniscectomy is a removal. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 28, 2015 -> 12:11 PM) It's not an elbow, shoulder, or arm injury. Should be back for Opening Day, not too concerned Even if he's not back for Opening Day, it's not an arm injury. I'm not that worried about it.

Official NHL 2014-15 Thread

QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 08:30 PM) 211 posts about a guy who seemingly is always hurt and not a premier player in his league. 11 posts for the top scorer in the NHL Well one sport is the 2nd most popular in this country and the other sport is hockey. I love the Blackhawks but the NBA and the Bulls especially moves the meter. Just the way it is. -
When facial hair makes these guys worse at baseball, then I'll start caring about it.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 02:13 PM) Tim Floyd was great at Iowa State. Very different situation and you know it. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 02:21 PM) This is so Krause/Floyd all over again. A perrienial Coach of the Year candidate in place, (has won games with a roster depleted of it's best players for years), yet almost openly romancing an Iowa State coach. Gar/Pax has to go. I hope Michael Reinsdorf can see through these guys. If the Bulls didn't luck into DRose, what is Gar/Pax legacy? This isn't new. Hoiberg was linked to Bulls a year and a half ago.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 02:00 PM) Cartwright, Skiles, Del Negro...these are the types these clowns hired until they lucked into Thibs, and now just try to piss him off whenever they can. I have no doubt the tension between the FO and team has cost the Bulls on the floor this season. When Thibs is traded or mutually departs after this season, he will get hired in about 5 seconds. The Bulls will hire someone they will be pissed off at in a year or two because they won't be able to win when Pau is 2 years older, and Noah and DRose are constantly injured. J4L is kinda crazy, but one thing he has harped on in the past is how other teams really go after titles vs. the Bulls who do spend their cap money but really are about as conservative as can be, and really never make bold moves, and when it doesn't work out because the entire roster is always hurt, it must be Thibs. Other teams think way outside the box. The Bulls...not so much. Ehh. I'm not convinced that Fred Hoiberg wouldn't be very successful as HC of the Bulls. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 01:54 PM) And that's fair why? If anyone really thinks the Bulls will win more games or advance farther in the playoffs with the same players but without Thibs, they are going to be sorry for what they wished for when, and I agree with this part, he does depart. JR still wonders why LaRussa was allowed to leave. Thibs is better than LaRussa. He will rue the day he lets Gar/Pax send Thibs packing. Great. If they feel like they will never win a title with Tom coaching though, how can they possibly not move on?
