  1. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 01:32 PM) You're saying all Thibs did was give young players a chance to play when the other player goes out, as if he has done nothing else to develop those players. He definitely is a big part as to why they are developed. The fact that they were good picks and the players worked hard as well gets lost though.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 01:29 PM) Yet when it was time for them to play, they are all ready to go. Jimmy Butler is a freaking all star, after taking over for an all-star in Luol Deng. Very true. But they should be playing before they are eventually "forced" into action. It is well known that Tom grinds his players to dust to win regular season basketball games. Snell should have had more minutes long before the recent stretch. Mirotic should play more and McDermott should be playing too. I'm pretty sure Gar/Pax didn't trade 2 first rounders for McDermott so that he could take a redshirt year.
  3. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 01:16 PM) Right, because all Thibs did was give young players a chance to play. What are you saying here?
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 01:23 PM) Really? I'm waiting for your response.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 01:08 PM) Did I just imagine Jimmy Butler? The growth of both Snell and Mirotic this year? Butler only got extended minutes when Deng was out and then traded. Snell has only played because of injuries to Hinrich. The only way that Mirotic plays enough in when Taj or someone is injured or out. McDermott doesn't play at all. It's ridiculous.
  6. People in this city act like Tom Thibodeau has won multiple championships. When is the last time that a young player emerged on this team that wasn't caused by an injury? Thibs is a great coach but there are plenty of reasons why he was an assistant for 20 years. This will be his last season with the Bulls.
  7. Sounds like Teuvo will be recalled. Unleash him and let's see what the kid can do. Seems like Kaner could be back for a potential 1st or 2nd round playoff series.
  8. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 09:02 AM) I don't know, after the first one it felt like he would come back, these are the "no, no he's not coming back". And rebuilding sucks, I have no desire to watch bad basketball. They aren't going to rebuild though. They almost have to double down on Rose. He's owed $20 million each of the next two years. They are stuck there. Gasol and Butler will be around. I would look to deal Noah and Taj and see if I can get more scoring to compliment Rose/Butler/Gasol. They can't pay Noah again so they might as well use him as a potential asset.
  9. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 04:04 AM) Of course he's going to repair it and not its have it removed. At this point, why conserve and worry about his 30s? He should be trying to get back on the court. This isn't true. If it's less than a 50% tear, it's more beneficial to just snip it at this point. This may not be that serious. We need PTACT in here to shed light on this.
  10. After looking at Noesi's White Sox numbers, they weren't as good as I thought they were. I never said that Coop "fixed" him though. I was relaying a cool story about how and why he was acquired. Next time I won't.
  11. Sorry but using Noesi's full season stats from last year vs Danks' full season stats is f***ing meaningless and a really bad, dumb way of arguing a point.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 24, 2015 -> 07:34 AM) Do you think John Danks sucked last year? Noesi's White Sox ERA was 0.05 lower, and his FIP was higher. The emergence of Hector Noesi is very overblown. No I don't think John Danks sucks either. He just makes too much money and was way better before.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 23, 2015 -> 06:35 PM) Noesi probably still sucks. Well he didn't suck for the White Sox last year but alright.
  14. Rozner was telling a story about Noesi that I hadn't heard before. I knew that the White Sox liked him in the past but Rozner said something interesting this weekend. He said that when the White Sox were killing Noesi last season, Ken Williams called the dugout phone and told Cooper to watch him. Supposedly, Ken Williams said " We are going to have this guy next week and I know what is wrong with him". Then Ken Williams and Cooper broke down film and looked at the mechanics. Rozner mentioned that the White Sox think he is a rotation piece and not just some filler. He was coveted by the Sox for a long time.
  15. I have a question for the group to ponder. Would it beneficial to the White Sox to not be able to come to terms with their 1st rounder this year? It would only leave the team with picks in rounds 4-40 and the Sox would only have about $2 million to spend on the entire draft. My idea then would be to go nuts in International Spending this year. In this scenario, the White Sox would pick 9th next year and own their own 1st rounder. They may even have a third 1st rounder as compensation for Samardzija. The White Sox could have one of the biggest draft budgets ever by doing this. I know it would be tricky to pull this year and blatantly skirting the rules but it'd be an awesome strategy. Add a little talent to system through draft this year. Go nuts in International Market, spending way past the restriction and lose the ability for next year. (White Sox never do this) But in 2016, could have potentially 3 first rounders with lots of $$ to maneuver and no budget in International market. This would be awesome. Is this plan crazy?
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 23, 2015 -> 07:57 AM) Especially with the 2nd and 3rd round picks gone this year, it's key to get the BPA in the 1st and probably for the 4th/5th too. But I would like to see the White Sox try to grab the best college catcher available starting around the 5th/6th round if they haven't grabbed one already. And another one sometime not too long after. Normally, you don't start filling gaps at specific positions until much later in the draft, like perhaps starting in the teens. And normally I agree with that. However, I do think that catching is an exception, because it is nearly impossible to trade for it. There are just so few long-term successful catchers, and so few catching prospects out there that look worthwhile, that teams aren't trading them. And the White Sox have, IMO, a dire lack of catching talent depth across the organization right now. I want to see that addressed if at all possible. So my question to this group is, who are the current college catchers at the top of people's draft boards? They can't really afford to do that though. They almost need to go under slot in round 1 because there just isn't much money in the pool. If they pay slot to the 1st pick, they only have like $1.5 million total for rounds 4-10. Lot of college seniors this year.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 19, 2015 -> 02:28 PM) The Sox are back in win now mode. If Rodon pitches like he can, they will make a space for him, somewhere. I just don't think this is true or smart. I don't want to sacrifice 1 entire year of control of a stud Boras client that will be in his prime for an extra month and a half in the big leagues. Rodon is ticketed for Charlotte and it's the right call regardless of what the White Sox say.
  18. In the prospect handbook, it mentions that Matt Davidson struggled with the fact that he didn't win a major league job and then also had family issues that further helped complicate his season. Were these family issues documented? Did anyone else know about them?
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 13, 2015 -> 05:46 PM) They said there will be a show announcement next week Spiegel is announcing his new co-host at 12:50 today.
  20. QUOTE (oldsox @ Feb 18, 2015 -> 07:16 AM) Was Bassitt on the list? No I don't think so. Bassitt is a relief pitcher.

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 17, 2015 -> 05:53 AM) I stopped watching Gotham a month ago and it seems they are trying to cram too much in season 1 with introducing that kid as the future Joker. The promos for it looked so cheesy to me. I think Shameless has been solid this season. The scenes move so fast anyway so that is something isn't clicking, it's off to next scene anyway. The Ian/mental illness stuff is well done. Last night's Gotham was originally the Season 1 Finale but then Fox ordered more episodes.
  22. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-fangrap...-prospect-list/ I love that Kiley McDaniel started doing the Fangraphs list. There are 6 White Sox mentioned in the top 200. 8. Rodon 45. Anderson 113. Montas 116. Adams 142. Danish 143-200- Michalczewski
  23. I'm a teacher so I am indeed at home.
  24. QUOTE (LDF @ Feb 16, 2015 -> 09:35 AM) before the players sox have picked were in the high risk players, if they met their potential, which in my opinion they haven't. That wasn't really the problem though. The problem was that Kenny Williams wanted high-upside athletes and Jerry Reinsdorf didn't want to spend any money on the draft. So what they did was start drafting high-upside athletes that were cheap. Because of this philosophy, they ended up with the Jared Mitchell's and Keenyn Walker's of the world. I blame JR far more than I do KW in this instance. The way the White Sox handled the draft under the old rules was disgusting.
  25. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 12, 2015 -> 11:50 PM) It's been a disappointing first part of the season, but there are positives to build on going into the ASB. Jo is looking more and more active. Gasol and Jimmy showing no signs of slowing down. Derrick beginning to attack more, pulling out the old MVP moves. Shooting less threes. Snell gaining confidence. McDermott is healthy. Dunleavy is back. Kirk is on the bench at the moment. Well they are the 3rd seed in the East currently.
