  1. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 29, 2015 -> 12:31 PM) Possibly start at WS, does well then AA. I actually think Montas and Danish could both start in Birmingham with Hawkins and Anderson there as well.
  2. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Mar 29, 2015 -> 01:44 AM) Tommy John isn't the death sentence that people made it out to be (My mother had actually had it done in late February.), unfortunately it's a common procedure now and some pitchers get better after having it. It sounds like you forgot that Aiken was the consensus top player in last year's draft, even when news broke out about him having a naturally smaller UCL, teams came out and said that they still would have taken him number one without hesitation. There was even a possibility that Aiken would have become a free agent, I'm sure that 29 GMs would be comping at the bit too get him into their system. I also disagree with what you said about the best player available being a guy with the highest ceiling and healthy. In regards to what we know about TJ now in regards to pitching prospects that is a completely arcane way of looking at things. If you had to pick between Clayton Kershaw (Who's going to sit out a year to recover from TJ) or Sonny Gray to build your team around, you're picking Clayton Kershaw even with the TJ and 1 year recovery time. And since we're talking about another prospect in Aiken, lets bring up guys like Giolito and Hoffman. In terms of accomplishments, Giolito is universally thought of as the best pitching prospect in all of baseball. And just look at all the pitchers that have had TJ and came back stronger than before. You also forgot that Jeff Hoffman was a highly successful college pitcher. College being the key word there, you know that college players are automatically more seasoned then their high school counterparts, right? Jeff Hoffman was already polished as a pitcher, any time he spent in the minors would just be fine tuning and more seasoning. He exexpected to mske his mlb debut next year as a 23 year old. If you're the Sox and draft Aiken but you're unwilling to sign him just because he won't sign under slot then you’re insane. Keep in mind the sox do not have picks in the second and third round this year. Yes, you do get the #9 pick in next year's draft automatically but a draft without a first, second and third rouround picks would be a huge blow to the farm. Thats my two cents. This is right on, Josh. Good point.
  3. Can we stop talking about Rodon making the club? Not happening.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 29, 2015 -> 08:33 AM) I think it was Johnson's job to lose, and he really hasn't done anything to lose it. Sanchez has nice offensive numbers but according to BR, he is facing AA quality pitching while Micah is facing AAA. I think they ket Micah fail in Chicago before turning it over to Sanchez. I completely agree with Dick here. The White Sox want MIcah Johnson to be their 2B. He will be.
  5. Charlotte rotation could actually be pretty fun with Rodon, Drabek, Beck, and Johnson.
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 24, 2015 -> 09:26 PM) Yes, we put these on stub hub if they don't sell to friends/family or whatever. If they are still listed they are still for sale, and yes I can sell two potentially. I'm interested in the Pirates game. I PMed you.
  7. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 06:46 PM) Cool info and boy what a star-crossed trio of arms that trade would have involved. Sorry. Separate deals. Mentioned in talks for Floyd. Also in talks for Danks prior to extension.
  8. QUOTE (raBBit @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 05:46 PM) I know your word is good but any reason specifically you think/know the Sox have liked him? Couldn't have been. I am pretty sure he'd be an All Star now if he was. At least that's what I have been hearing recently. Maybe Rock or Bucket could speak to this but I have a buddy that knows a coach that's been around for awhile. He gets stuff every once in awhile. He said that Sox tried to get Drabek for Floyd and Danks. It's kind of like KW always loved Betances. There are certain guys that you hear about occasionally. Drabek may be a shell of his former self but it's still interesting.
  9. QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 04:02 PM) These things have a way of disappearing in a hot hurry For sure. It doesn't mean you take a lesser prospect just because they are closer to the majors though.
  10. Drabek will also have to be put back through waivers to send him to Charlotte. Out of options.
  11. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 03:19 PM) White Sox claim Kyle Drabek off of waivers. Put Nate Jones on the 60-day disabled list to create 40-man space https://twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/581550560765054976 Well what do we think guys? White Sox have liked Drabek for a long time.
  12. QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 01:11 PM) to me, if this was being done today, and the pitchers are what the owner wants. then it is Kirby and Bickford. the reason, in about 2 yrs he will be up and pitching, can you imagine what the starting 5 is going to look like, wow. just imagine. You can afford to take a guy that isn't up soon though with the starting pitching depth that the Sox have.
  13. Sounds like Rick Barnes will resign at Texas. Arizona State, Tennessee, and St. John's all came open today. Tim Doyle says Steve Lavin to DePaul.
  14. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 11:44 AM) I sure as hell know that I would not want Aiken at #8. He's already gone through so many injury issues. It's not worth taking the risk with him IMO. I think he's the best pitcher of the bunch. He has no leverage either. I would imagine that he doesn't want to go back to school. I'd be perfectly fine with adding Aiken to the system or taking the 9th pick next year as compensation.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 10:11 AM) Were contract details provided for M. Foster deal? No they were not.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 09:28 AM) They went through his and McShay's picks the last several years a few months ago.. I think they just used their final mock drafts. They did underperform overall, but McShay scored big for JJ Watt to Dallas. Dallas still drafted an All Pro, but it wasn't JJ Watt. My point is that mock draft accuracy is dumb and shouldn't be what they are graded on. They mock players to "what they think will happen" and not what "they think should happen". WE should look at their overall big boards and see if the players at the top end up as the best players in the draft.
  17. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 26, 2015 -> 08:17 PM) I don't see how the hit they took last year applies now, since the concerns they had with his elbow proved out and he is now having TJS. They don't have to say anything, there is no road that needs to be taken high or low. They saw something, it worried them, they lowballed the player, he refused the deal and bet on himself. Unfortunately he lost his bet and Houston looks better for letting him walk away. This isn't the whole story though. Houston took him at #1 because he agreed to a deal at $6.5 million. They drafted him. He got there, they found the small UCL and then offered $5 million. I wouldn't have played for that team either. He bet on himself and he lost. He will get drafted again though, probably in the top 10.
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 09:09 AM) Has anybody ever gone back and checked how his "grades" turn out? Big boards are usually fairly accurate. It's not about mock draft success. It's which players that he had rated highly on the big board turned into good pros. That's what would need to be checked.
  19. I think showing the acquisitions in their old uniforms with Sox announcers in the background is kind of cool actually.
  20. Well this goes back to my scenario from a couple months ago that many on the board weren't down with. I would draft Aiken. If he chooses not to sign, White Sox could potentially have 3 1st round picks in 2016. Either you put Aiken into your farm system or you get to load up like crazy next year.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 26, 2015 -> 01:37 PM) Maybe Danny Boy needed something like this to put him back in his place a little bit in his own mind. He used to be really good before he started believing he knew more about everything than anyone else and put the biggest idiot callers on the air to make himself look good. I hope the Score makes him take Sensitivity training or something of the sort. He's not going to change though. He's just going to watch what he tweets. He has said far worse things on his show than were said last night. Remember all of the stuff about Britney Griner being a man and all sorts of other things? He's mentioned Aiyana Cristal's boobs on the show before. Said that he watched CBS in the morning because he likes Megan Glaros' rack as well. None of those things went viral though.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 26, 2015 -> 01:16 PM) What male sports media members has he said on Twitter were bad at their jobs? Personally I don't think it's his job to put that out there if he has. He apologized for offending her. If someone told you that you were bad at your job, but I don't want to offend you, I just want it out there for the world to discuss, you would probably be offended. Funny thing about Spiegel, his boobs match up with anybody's. Guys all the time: David Diehl, Harold Reynolds, Tim McCarver, Erin Andrews (who is also female). To name a few. Wasn't tweeted though. Those were all talked about on the show. The comment about the boobs doesn't happen and there is no apology. Spiegel would not be apologizing for criticizing her work today. That's not what he's sorry about.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 26, 2015 -> 11:54 AM) But his apology was questionable at best. He apologized not for saying someone sucked at their job, but for not keeping the conversation on track, and then was sad he offended her. The initial tweet not with the sexual stuff was dumb. He didn't want to offend her, he just wanted a Twitter conversation about how bad she is at her job. And the tweet he deleted was probably the most offensive of all. I agree about McNeil. Say what you want about the Barney Rubble lookalike, but he does own up to his screw ups. This was a typical guy conversation many of us have had plenty of, but to be a sports media member and have it on Twitter is mindbogglingly dumb. He apologized for chiming in and continuing with the conversation about her boobs. He did not apologize for saying she's awful at her job because he shouldn't have to. He criticizes male media members for being bad at their jobs too. There are only 2 things I know about Aiyana Cristal: She's really bad at her job and she has huge boobs. I wouldn't put it on twitter though even if it is true.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Mar 24, 2015 -> 05:53 PM) Maybe not next episode, but it would certainly make for a S1 finale type reveal. They should show Jesse in Walt's science class at some point. That'd be awesome.
  25. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 26, 2015 -> 08:33 AM) Not a good day for Bernsie and Spiegel, but mostly Bernsie. https://twitter.com/RegressedPDO/status/580933766488715264 Ehh. Nothing is going to happen to either of them. I'd have that same conversation with a buddy. I'm pretty surprised they put it on twitter though. It seems Spiegel's original point was that she's bad at her job which is true. Weird that it went that direction.
