White Sox Intl Review
I’m guessing they’re out of money.

I like him. I’ve been a fan since he was doing well as a 17-year-old in the DSL after coming straight stateside. I just don’t think he’s in top 100 consideration. It’s hard as a corner profile in High-A. He was power but not ridiculous power and that’s usually what it takes. He’s young and he could absolutely break out more in AA or something but I’ll need to see it first. He’s probably the prospect I would trade at the deadline though if he’s super valuable to the industry. He needs to be added to the 40-man in December and I’m just not sure Sox can afford to carry him for years while competing. I’d probably rank him in the 4-6 range right now but the system is definitely better than preseason

No chance. Montgomery and Sosa are probably the only candidates at this point. I'm really surprised by the discussion on Ramos.

Not pre-draft necessarily but during for sure. His camp was looking for $900K. The White Sox met that price and he ended up here. It happens in every round, with every team, every year.

They wanted Sean Burke. They agreed to a deal with Sean Burke for $900K. He likely could've gone earlier. This is the part of the process that you're refusing to understand. It's overslot because the White Sox felt he was a better player than the 94th pick. Think of it as them trading up to select him. That's essentially what it would be like in other drafts.

It's a win even if they're regarded highly enough to be used in trades honestly

What’s Vaughn’s offensive ceiling?
I’ve always compared him as a cross between Josh Donaldson and Paul Goldschmidt. He’s a cornerstone player.

I hated the Sheets and Walker picks. Sean Burke has been awesome though. Totally worth $900K

It’s a way to push a better player to your spot. Last year, the Sox drafted Colson Montgomery and paid slot slot. They successfully floated Wes Kath to the 2nd round by paying him $1.8 million. In the 3rd, they took Sean Burke and paid him $900K which was overslot but the price to get him there. They went under in the 4th and 6-10 so they could draft McDougal in round 5 and paid him $850K. Just kind of how the rules work

Yeah I think they've been updated again. I think the building is just old honestly. I could ask around and see

I think they also pay taxes in the DR and here which is an issue
-
6/13 Games
Yeah it happens. They aren’t avoiding a tax hit though to help themselves. They’re trying to get the player the most money possible in a capped system. Blame U.S. tax laws more than anything.

I’m thinking Loidel Chapellí might be too good for the DSL

Katz? Yes or No?
Ethan Katz is the only guy on this staff that I hope sticks around long-term. He's definitely not the problem.

Adam Haseley is useful but they can’t promote him because La Russa is a dipshit. He’ll play him every day against righties which is an issue

I think the arrival of Davis Martin along with Burke, Vera and Mena puts them in a spot where they should double up on prep hitters again and then overslot a college starter in the 3rd again. We’ll see though. Probably depends on the board.

Grandal exits game, apparent leg injury
It’s about 40 man space. Once those guys go on, they have to stay on.

Grandal exits game, apparent leg injury
Zavala actually makes the most sense if it’s short term. They’ll just DFA him again to clear the roster spot when Yaz is ready. Can’t do that with Perez

I think Montgomery is 1 for sure and it’s going to be tough to not have Sosa at 2. What he’s done at AA is insane and he’s 22 and plays the middle infield. Ramos could be 3. I’m just not sure I’d put him there. Montgomery can play shortstop and there’s real first base risk with Ramos. Both are good prospects though for sure. This isn’t really part of this discussion but I’m curious to see what the Sox do with Ramos. He’s probably two years away from the majors potentially and he needs 40-man protection this off-season. I think he’s one of their most likely trade pieces

I think at this point, I’d probably go: Montgomery, Sosa, Colas, Vera, Burke, Ramos and Rodriguez in some order.
-
6/10 Games
Where would you rank Ramos in the Sox system?
-
6/10 Games
I agree but if Ramos is a top 100 prospect then the Sox have 5 top 100 prospects
-
6/10 Games
Nah it’s not enough power honestly for a corner guy. I’m not even sure I’d have Ramos as a top 5 prospect in the system right now. I like him though
