I’d trade all of them. Gavin Sheets might be Sox best 2nd rounder ever. It’s not just about the player though but also the pool space. It changes how much the player is worth. If your valuation says Conforto is worth 4/80, he’s not worth 4/80 plus a 2nd rounder, the bonus amount and $500K in international space. It’s just complicated.

Not true. They’ve offered players more money since. I think that’s a very fair first offer for Conforto with a QO, personally. Agreed. There’s no market for him that’s known anyway. I’m not sure that deal is out there. Most teams won’t forfeit a 2nd, the pool space and $500K in international funds for 1-2 years of Conforto. He should’ve taken the QO. They aren’t. The board might be but this doesn’t make any sense. I don’t know what the status is but I now they had interest in the player.

I don’t know. I doubt it. Informed speculation: the Sox were willing to do something in the 4 year $72-$76 million range. I have no idea whether they still would or not. Boras was looking for more than that. Over 5 years and $100 million plus from all indications. I doubt Sox would do a 1-2 year and forfeit the 2nd rounder and pool space to do so. I’m not sure anyone would though.

If they have offers where they're eating some of the money on Kimbrel, it makes sense to wait. Showcase him and maybe someone's closer gets hurt. They can just make a deal where they eat at the end of spring if necessary. Waiting is fine.

Twins likely need to trade one of Martin or Lewis to land Montas fwiw I've heard about targeting close to majors young catchers in talks.

Kimbrel will get moved. The Sox have offers but they aren't ready to make a decision. In regards to the guys left on the market, teams are concerned with Story's ability to throw. I'm not sure where he ends up. There aren't really any rumors linking Conforto to anyone at this point which is real strange obviously.

Yes. Sox would forfeit like the 65th pick, the bonus pool amount associated and $500K in international space. They should be willing to do it though. This offseason hasn't been a good one for the White Sox. I agree with you. If they're in fact done, it's a very poor allocation of available resources. Also, I'm not your pal.

They set the market on Grandal, Wheeler and Hendriks. Boras is a different beast though.
