Cespedes was stateside because he had established US residency (in Florida) when he signed. If Oscar Colas is living in the DR, he likely needs to stay there for much of 2022 in order to receive a tax free bonus.
-
Yeah my bad. I don’t think Prieto would sign for that personally. I bet the Sox have multiple $400-$600K signings that I couldn’t find.
-
Yeah it’s really dirty. Being an international scout is a pretty tough job. Not only are you trying to project 13-14 year olds, you’re dealing with trainers, handlers etc and everyone wants a piece of the pie.
-
Yeah it’s sucks. It’s US tax law though. The biggest issue appears to be that the contract is signed in January at the beginning of the calendar year. If it were July, it wouldn’t be much if an issue IMO
-
I might not have been clear enough. It’s tough and don’t take this the wrong way because I don’t mean any offense but when you understand this crazy market, it’s sometimes hard to write about it while explaining it to most people who aren’t as Informed about how weird it is.
-
I fear that he’ll be in the Dominican Republic because he hasn’t established residency in the US. It’s not a big deal when signing in July but signing in January is brutal obviously. You basically have to stay there for entire season. Yeah for sure. He’s had some success of late too. Quezada was very promising in DSL and Wilfred Veras was good in AZL. Multiple mid tier bonus guys showing up of late.
-
We don’t know that they have a pool of money uncommitted. They very likely have multiple $400K and $500K signings that I just don’t know about. Guys similar to Quezada, Guariman and Borrero from last year.

The White Sox will sign Oscar Colas and Erick Hernandez. There’s some info on Cesar Prieto in here too. I wrote about it today: http://www.futuresox.com/2021/12/13/2021-2022-chicago-white-sox-international-signing-preview/

I think we’ll be conservative and put him 25-30 range but I completely understand the optimism
-
I hate you.
-
Well they could theoretically I suppose but everyone is out of money
-
It would be next year. The players signing on January 15 were supposed to sign on July 2nd 2021.
-
It'll never happen. A system like that just doesn't work either. The teams would tank down the stretch because some years getting a top five pick is better than making the playoffs. Also, a team like Arizona wasn't tanking last year. They were just horrible. They deserve the 2nd pick.
-
No. Not until January 15.
-
I'd probably go: 1. Norge Vera 2. Colson Montgomery 3. Oscar Colas 4. Wes Kath 5. Yoelqui Cespedes 6. Jake Burger 7. Jose Rodriguez 8. Jared Kelley 9.Matthew Thompson 10.Andrew Dalquist
-
No transaction can be made with 40-man players. GM's are absolutely talking though. What else would they be doing? It's just not going to get out.
-
I'm guessing they feel like there will be more interest after the lockout ends and they can talk trade this whole time basically
-
You have $30m to complete the roster...
Y2Jimmy0 replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Is it $30 million in addition to Craig Kimbrel because that's doable for sure I'd think. Maybe something like this: Trade Craig Kimbrel and Matt Foster to Philadelphia for Jean Segura, Jose Alvarado and Rafael Marchan Trade Gavin Sheets and Zack Collins to Oakland for Sean Manaea and upside reliever of some sort? Sign OF Michael Conforto to 4 year $88 million deal. Backload the deal. Re-Sign Ryan Tepera for 2 years $14 million 1. Tim Anderson SS 2. Yoan Moncada 3B 3. Luis Robert CF 4. Yasmani Grandal C 5. Jose Abreu 1B 6. Eloy Jimenez LF 7. Michael Conforto RF 8. Andrew Vaughn DH 9. Jean Segura 2B Bench C Rafael Marchan INF/OF Leury Garcia OF Adam Engel LHB Bench bat of some sort Rotation 1. Lance Lynn 2. Lucas Giolito 3. Dylan Cease 4. Sean Maneae 5. Michael Kopech Bullpen Liam Hendriks RHP Kendall Graveman RHP Ryan Tepera RHP Reynaldo Lopez RHP Aaron Bummer LHP Garrett Crochet LHP Jose Alvarado LHP Dallas Keuchel LHP -
Would it make any sense for the Mets to take Keuchel and Kimbrel for Cano?
-
Do you think Kendall Graveman is a shit player? Hendriks? Lynn? How about Yasmani Grandal? Stop being ridiculous.
-
This isn't true. This isn't either.
-
This is fair I suppose. My biggest gripe is the assumption that they're done. There are lots of options available still.
-
There's lots of conflicting information right now. I stand by what I wrote because I trust the people who told me a significant addition was likely coming. I've heard that Hahn/Haber may have misjudged this market. I've also heard that Jerry Reinsdorf didn't want a major expenditure pre-lockout. I'm not sure what's true at this point. THey've added a utility player and an 8th inning guy for like $13.5 million so far. They'll have a record high payroll. Michael Conforto is still a realistic option and there's no way second base is solved. THey'll add at least one starter too. They were priced out of the Scherzer and Semien markets. That's pretty obvious at this point. If they don't do very much, I'll be as critical as everyone else. For me though, it's imperative to wait until the off-season is over. I need to see what the 2022 team actually looks like. Sorry for disappointing you Ray.

I don’t think the Sox would prefer 1/20. Giving up a 2nd rounder for that seems untenable.

It seemed like sourced information
