FutureSox Top 30: Midseason

Nice list.  Very informative. The only real surprise for me was Veras.  He has outperformed Kath at 2 levels. Neither of them look that great at 3rd. I get the bat-first profile, but I can’t think of 20 guys I’d have ahead of him let alone 30.  Then again, I have a pretty low opinion of the Sox “pitching depth” like Bilous, Stiever etc.  Anyway, really interesting read. Thanks for all the work you guys do over there.

I’d assume kath is still more likely to stick at third. Veras has been mostly in the 1B/DH track.

My boy Ellis needs to be higher!

J/k, I understand the age knock against him. Read this yesterday and always it's mega informative and insightful.

I’m just glad Perez is in top 30.

still possible he didn’t make either list I suppose.

He’s on it. Has to be

Here's the question.  Out of this list, who is the guy most likely to pop next year and end up in the FS top 10 by this time next year?

For me, i think one of the pitchers could go quickly, going to guess Freeman gets healthy next year and ends up in Chicago.

Only got through #3 on the podcast on my commute, but bold of @Sleepy Harold putting Davis Martin at 4.

I like it.

Davis is the kind of guy we'd historically trade to Oakland and then he'd go on to be a solid #3 for like 5 years for them.

I can't take credit for that, that was Josh Nelson who had him at 4. He was in the low teens for me. I understood Josh's case for it though.

I'll go with Jordan Sprinkle. If he can hit w/ his defensive ability, watch out.

For a bottom tier system, I really like the Top 10.

The Sox system has lacked depth even when it was at its best.  We seem like we would rather have an extra A type of guy, versus a lot of C's and a few B's to see who emerges.

The system could see a significant ranking jump next year. There's legitimately 4-5 arms that can sky rocket up prospect charts. Additionally if Sosa opens the year raking in Charlotte he's a legitimate top 100 prospect.

As much as I like Montgomery, I have to rate Colas as a clear # 1 Prospect.

Looks like the best its been in a decade, if looked at solely by draft, development and signings (i.e. excluding prospects acquired via trading top major league talent).  It's a really low bar, but on the improve.
