  1. If the White Sox sign Conforto and Tepera and trade for Chris Bassitt, I don’t care who plays second base.
  2. This can be simplified even further. The owners proposed a luxury tax line of $215 million. Players are at $245 million. Until that thing gets closer to $230 million, there will be no baseball. I think they miss half the season or more at this point. There's no reason for the players to fight in order to miss like 22 games and cave basically. If they want real change, this drags into the summer.
  3. I have no reason to believe that Abreu will ever be gone.
  4. When would Sheets ever play on a roster with Conforto in RF though?
  5. I like this. Here are my tweaks: Sign Michael Conforto Sign Ryan Tepera Trade Craig Kimbrel to Philly for Marchan and Alvarado Trade Gavin Sheets plus, plus to Oakland for Sean Manaea and Tony Kemp.
  6. Yeah the draft lottery is pointless
  7. There are 14 small market clubs that currently reap the benefits of this system. They aren’t going to do anything to change that
  8. It’s not going to work this time. This isn’t Tony Clark’s dumbass running the show anymore. And the real losers are the fans. My dad has friends that haven’t been back to a baseball game since 1994. It’ll happen again.
  9. Good luck getting 23 owners to agree.
  10. Well that’s short-sighted and ridiculous.
  11. They could take the players' proposal and they'd still win in a landslide due to jersey patches and expanded playoffs.
  12. This would be great. No way they get 23 votes on that though haha.
  13. I don't mind capping spending. Capping spending at $215 million and taking draft picks away for going over is insane though. There's a number where it makes sense for sure. The players suggested $245 million and that seems reasonable to me.
  14. It's not what the owners want. They're conflicted though. Manfred needs 23 votes to pass anything and that makes things pretty tough when you have people that truly don't want to spend but also don't want others spending either.
  15. You're right. I don't hope they miss the season. That's crazy. I'd rather they miss the season than go with what the owners have proposed on the luxury tax though because it's better for the long-term health of the sport. The owners are going to have to move on the luxury tax though or they might actually miss a season.
  16. It's really not. 70% of the league makes under $1 million per year and it's the lowest minimum salary in all of sports. What the owners are trying to do on the luxury tax would make it really tough on the White Sox the next couple seasons and the penalties are ridiculous. It doesn't force the small market clubs to spend and stops the largest market clubs from spending. Sounds like a hard cap to me.
  17. We should all boycott the sport. What they're proposing for the luxury tax is a fucking joke. I hope they miss the season.
  18. This is all so stupid. The players aren’t even asking for very much. Their ideas are nothing compared to what the owners will make on jersey patches and expanded playoffs. It’s just 8 short-sighted owners being shitheads essentially.
  19. Yeah. They’d do 4 weeks total I’m guessing.
  20. The owners were/are willing to lose games because they’ll make it all up and then some with expanded playoffs. The players know that. MLBPA has made it clear to the owners that they won’t approve expanded playoffs unless they play a full schedule. It’s a smart piece of negotiating by the players.
  21. Before next Monday 2/28. The threat of no expanded playoffs is a game changer for the players. The owners have to have that.
  22. They’re very worried about no playoff expansion. MLBPA has made it very clear that there will be no expanded playoffs unless they play 162. Urgency for the owners
  23. Sir, this is a Wendy's!
  24. Everyone I talked to yesterday had completely lost all optimism in regards to starting on time. Last nights news is interesting though. The owners have to have expanded playoffs. They already have a deal with a network for it supposedly. The owners were/are willing to miss some games because they’d recoup the money during expanded playoffs. MLBPA saying they won’t approve it without playing 162 is a nice move. This could finally get the owners to negotiate seriously.
  25. Prep pitching is risky for sure and I agree completely. My issue right now is I'm not sure if there are any long-term starters in the college class. They all "look" like relievers and everyone is hurt.
