  1. This isn’t true lol. Sox offered him $1.4 million. They probably should’ve offered more initially but he took $1.5 million from Washington at a later time. There was no negotiating. Just unfortunate. The takeaway should be that Marco Paddy identifies talent Yes. They’re both tremendous and would’ve been anywhere.
  2. They aren’t moving Vaughn to the outfield because they have no outfield depth. They’re moving him to get Collins in the lineup and see if it’s functional long-term because they have a Jose Abreu problem.
  3. They need to get him stateside before signing. For whatever reason, Cespedes is stateside now because he was living in Florida. Vera isn't because he was in the DR.
  4. It's not going to happen. They have Jose Abreu, Yasmani Grandal and Andrew Vaughn. Eloy Jimenez has to play the outfield. He really needs to just not try as hard as that is. Play the grounders, catch fly balls hit to him and that's about it. Moving to DH permanently is a non-starter.
  5. As of right now, Turley might be on the team. He’s out of options and is an Ethan Katz guy.
  6. Jimmy Lambert and Kopech are probably the next guys up until the Sox trade for Kevin Gausman at the deadline
  7. They loved Soderstrom last year. I think Harry Ford moves to the outfield though ultimately
  8. Yeah. He can get you out of a game. And then if someone needs a DL trip, you just call up Mendick. What function would Mendick serve on the roster otherwise? Maybe at 3B I guess if Moncada needed a blow. That's probably the only use though.
  9. Keeping Mendick is pointless. He's not really the 2nd option anywhere and he can just join the team in a pinch if necessary. Collins at least offers a LHB.
  10. I'd probably move him to CF right away but the Sox would likely let him try to catch. He can play catcher. There's just no reason to do so if the bat is as good as advertised
  11. I know they've taken prep pitching in round two of late but I still don't see them doing it in round 1.
  12. I completed my second mock draft and posted it over at FutureSox. https://www.futuresox.com/2021/03/15/2021-mlb-mock-draft-2/
  13. I have a mock draft coming out for FutureSox tomorrow.
  14. Lopez likely starts in pen due to delayed minor league season. Lambert and Stiever will be the 7th and 8th starters IMO
  15. Rodon will get it. He was guaranteed 3 million and doesn’t have options. Lopez might play out of the bullpen and Rodon really doesn’t. I still think Kopech occupies this rotation spot by July
  16. Rodriguez could really take off or his aggressive approach could bury him. He can really hit but he doesn’t walk and he’s probably a 2B. We just went conservative overall with the Vera ranking. The $1.5 million bonus puts him in line with Thompson and Dalquist. Dalquist is safer and that matters. If Vera hits his ceiling, he’ll be really good but he’s pretty far away. He could pitch next fall stateside though and we might feel dumb having him as low as we do. Ranking Vera and Cespedes was tough because nobody has seen them. I generally favor ceiling but you have to weigh how likely a player is to reach that ceiling. Then the floor comes in and proximity to majors matters as well.
  17. What are you using to determine that he struggled mightily for 3 years?
  18. He might have. That’s quite a jump though. Those guys aren’t ready for that. I’d put Weaver in Kanny with Krogman and Bailey
  19. Ramos, Rodriguez and Bailey are expected in Kannapolis. Cabera Weaver and Lency Delgado as well. Kelley, Thompson and Dalquist very likely to be there too. I’m not sure about Gladney. He could go back to rookie ball and Beard definitely will. Bush likely goes to Winston along with Comas and Mieses. Sosa in Winston too. I’m not really sure on Cespedes yet.
  20. Generally speaking, yes. But there used to be strange rules in place where players not on the 40 man had to spend 20 days in minors if optioned.
  21. It's all about 172 days of service. Those are the rules. They get a full season if they play in the majors for 172 days in 2021.
  22. Actually, I'm wrong about this. I need to check the rules again. It's weird because Vaughn isn't on the 40 man.
