Sure, but the point is a year ago we was worth quite a bit and could have been a nice piece of a trade. Luis Gonzalez was a 3rd round pick in 2017 if that is a better example.

Alec Hansen was taken in the 2nd round of the 2016 draft and was a top 60 prospect as recently as a year ago.

Not to us when we don’t plan on competing next year. Throwing away a high 2nd round draft pick and intentional slot money so we can have Pollack for just one year of our competitive window (2020) would be incredibly short-sighted.

Supposedly the Nationals, but they’re only $5M under the luxury tax. Adding Harper at a $35M AAV would effectively cost them $51M+ next year. For a team with three quality OFs, it would surprise me to see them spend that type of cash on Harper at this point.

Horrible comparison. Gar/Pax’s bad goes well beyond their ability to field a competitive team. Gar is a fucking snake and Paxson is a psycho who literally assaulted his own coach. I know many do not like KW around here, but I don’t think he’s remotely similar to those guys and Hahn is at least a halfway decent person.

I just don’t see how the Phillies are more attractive than us. They are slightly ahead of us in their rebuild, but they have much fewer reinforcements and are in a much tough division. Plus Chicago during the summer is actually awesome while Philadelphia pretty much sucks year round. All else being equal, I think he picks us, especially now that we have two of his buddies.

Don’t take this stuff personally, as it’s only natural for people to be skeptical. More times than not people claiming to have inside info are full of shit and we need to be cautious when someone new shows up with a source. That being said, most of us are glad you’re sharing what you’re hearing with us. I disagree. We can wait as long as anyone. The Phillies will have to look at other options to improve their roster. Also, I think it’s far less likely a mystery team jumps in the fray last second with Machado than Harper.
