The question I have with Moncada is what’s changed since his injury? Look at the splits below (pre / post injury). Despite striking out a ton, the kid was absolutely murdering the ball. His line drive & hard contact rates were amongst the highest in the leagues and that shows in his power numbers. Since the injuries, his entire offensive game has regressed (with the exception of strikeouts) to the point of being a terrible hitter. These can not be the same player and the insane tools suggest that the pre-injury player (with some BABIP regression) is there in there. Is Moncada not healthy? Is he having swing / approach issues? Has the league adjusted how they’re attacking him? There has to be explanation for how he want from one of the best to one of the worst hitters in such a short period of time. PA: 132 / 198 BB %: 12.9% / 5.6% K %: 37.1% / 34.3% ISO: .246 / .130 LD %: 29.2 / 17.8% Hard %: 51.5% / 35.6% BABIP: .407 / .281 OPS: .868 / .566 wRC+: 139 / 53

Pretty sure Robert was injured before this thread was started but whatever.

You aren’t getting him for Fulmer in any scenario. And from what I can tell from the 30 seconds I’ve spent looking at his numbers, he’s been more unlucky than anything. I’d take him straight up for Jose but seriously doubt the Rockies would bite on that.
-
While I can acknowledge the pick was bad with the benefit of hindsight (people were generally ok with the pick at the time though), the development of Carson has truly been criminal. No idea where Fulmer would be right now if they allowed him to develop at a normal pace.
-
I’d be open to that, but I’d like to exhaust the reliever option first if possible, although that admittedly could sap his remaining value.
-
I know I’m in the minority here, but I’d rather just move him to the bullpen and see how he responds. Maybe that doesn’t solve the command issues, but I don’t see him ever becoming a quality major league starter regardless.

Cease has been pretty good other than the one long ball.

Excellent start for Lopez. -

Given he’s batting like .220, that’s not overly surprising, but still very scary. This coaching staff has to figure how to get him going. Even against RHP he doesn’t look like the same player we saw in May. -

That last at-bat was like watching a public execution of a loved one. You knew after the first pitch how that at-bat was ending. -

I don’t care what anyone says, Lopez is a badass mothefucker. He battled to get through that shit with minimum damage and you can still see how pissed he is to have given up those two runs. Love this kid. -

And Lopez has some serious stones, but it’s hard to let this shit get to you when it happens time and time again. -

Thanks Insp! -
I’m forbidden to since I started yesterday’s and the Sox lost. But we’re already in the second inning and one hasn’t popped up yet.

That is really, really bad. Ricky’s got to make an example of Yoan for that one.

It really seems that way. With Vieira pitching well, I could see a swap between now and the All Star break.

Not that it would or should happen, but would we buy another year of team control if we sent Moncada down for the rest of the season?

Do you have a source for this? I haven’t seen any proposed terms rumored anywhere. -
I can confidently say those are the three worst consecutive posts from a single poster in Soxtalk history. Can’t tell if the poster is high on meth or just really struggling to be funny. Either way, this type of garbage is ruining the overall quality of the board.

Nice thread Ron! God knows this board could use some optimism right now! Here are 10 things that got me excited: Tim Anderson’s improving patience (7.4% BB rate vs. 2.1% last year) Jace Fry becoming a bonafide stud reliever (11.6 K/9 & 2.17 FIP) Dylan Cease taking that next step towards becoming a TOR starter The pending addition of Nick Madrigal to Winston Salem Lopez being a badass motherfucker with giant ass balls Luis Robert’s insane tools being as good as advertised Giolito’s velocity & command gradually starting to return The crazy amount of outfield & pitching depth throughout the minors A future bullpen with Zack Burdi, Ian Hamilton, & Tyler Johnson in it Eloy fucking Jimenez

Also, the Knights announcer confirmed once and for all that the stadium gun is 3 MPH vs Trackman. Kopech was sitting around 97 MPH and hit 100 a couple times.
