  1. Holy fuck yes!! Thank the love of god they drafted Madrigal! It appears that the Singer stuff was misdirection. Either way, we got our guy and that’s all that matters! Now take the best HS prospect available at #46 and call this day a huge win!
  2. Ok, I’m out until after our pick. Want to feel this pain in real time.
  3. I’m prepared for the letdown, but I’m still convinced this Singer talk is all a smokescreen.
  4. Callis has Madrigal to the Sox in his latest mock and said Singer may be “slipping”!!!
  5. Wow, clearly the timing was right. Just got to hope Rutherford can continue to develop physically and add some power to his game.
  6. I feel ya, hopefully it’s all a smokescreen and the Sox take a position player. We typically fly under the radar and this Singer seems way too leaky for our front office. For some reason I feel Bohm could be the guy at #4 (if available) as he’s the prototypical Hostetler pick. Great plate discipline, significant raw power, & positional concerns. And I’d be ok with that even if Madrigal was still on the board despite liking Nick better.
  7. I really don’t buy it to be honest. I think if they go Singer, then enough people in the room felt he was the guy. The problem is now doubt has been introduced to the equation and there will always be the question of whether or not KW intervened.
  8. I would take Mize in a heartbeat, but Singer is a couple tiers below him IMO and I think you’re betting off taking one of the advanced college positional guys (Madrigal, Bohm, or Bart) than a pitcher with Singer’s partially limited upside & red flags. If I were drafting closer to 7th or 8th and the positional guys I mentioned were gone, I’d actually be very ok with taking Singer.
  9. I know this is out there, but would it be worth it for us to offer Mize 1-1 money and try to force him down to us? We would have to make up $1.7M in value. The 5% overage allowance would give us around $500k to work with. If we took seniors in round 4, 9, & 10 that would give us another $800k to work with. If we offered low-end 2nd round money, we could probably make up the remaining $400k gap with an underslot deal at #46. This obviously wouldn’t happen, but would you be willing to pay that cost? Basically we’d punting our 4th round pick and take a lesser player in the 2nd for the top talent in the draft. I think would definitely do that.
  10. Is Fangraphs not doing a mock today? I wonder if there is so much uncertainty that it defeats the purpose from making any changes to their Friday draft.
  11. I really think we should curb all Heimlich talk until he’s actually selected or the draft ends without him being picked. There should be plenty to talk about tonight and we don’t need to rehash the same old arguments until then. And I say this as someone who derailed the last thread talking about it, so please don’t take my comments as a personal dig against those who brought him up.
  12. Also, Law just said Madrigal is not a plus runner. At least from I’ve seen/read, that doesn’t appear to be a true statement.
  13. Preferably for a recent LatAm signing that has yet to play stateside with interesting tools & major league bloodlines ?
  14. Bulldog >> grinder, but in all seriousness Singer has a bit of that Peavy vibe and we all know KW eats that shit up coming from a football background.
  15. 100% agree, but Madrigal doesn’t have the bulldog mentality that Singer does and for that reason Brady will likely be our pick ?
  16. I’d love to hear what you think makes Singer a better all around pitcher. From I’ve seen, Mize has the better arsenal of pitches and similar command. I feel like it would be hard to make an argument for Singer over Mize and that’s not a dig against Brady.
  17. 10 hours to go until Singer is ours!
