Fascinating trade. Got to love Kim Ng’s inner White Sock coming out with her building a lineup of 2B and then using them wherever they have holes. Jazz in CF, Segura at 3B, & Wendle at SS with the worst of the group in Arraez sticking at 2B. Obviously the big difference here is they’re using 2B types vs. 1B/DH types, so much better chance of working, but still an interesting experiment.

Did Bartolo have major knee issues? That’s the problem with Lynn being out of shape…puts a lot more stress on his knees.

I‘m not one who normally cares if a pitcher is fat, but given the knee issues, it’s unfortunate Lance doesn’t take better care of his body. The TOR stuff is still there if he can just stay on the mound.

I don’t think their 2023 list is out yet. Montgomery was #40 on their mid-season list.

This is why I’ve been so frustrated this off-season. I think any diehard Sox fan realizes Tony (& Menechino) fucked this team over immensely and that we should see unprecedented improvement from some of our core guys. That being said, this has been a team with holes & lacking depth for many years and Hahn continues to ignore obvious areas for enhancement. Even with organic improvement and better health, we are still likely behind the AL’s best teams. When the rebuild started, I honestly thought we’d see some of that old school KW killer instinct from Rick to push us over the top, but he’s been incredibly passive overall. Part of that is due to his failures building a sustainable farm system, but he could have easily add some depth this offseason without tapping into his two or three top 100 prospects. Just frustrating to see our competitive window coming to an end without the organization pushing hard for a championship.

Fangraphs has Ramos as low-end top 100 type and my guess is he’s not too far off from making the BA list either.

It’s going to take a ton of luck/health and some breakthrough performances to be more than a fringe contender in the worst division in baseball. I’m ok with banking on bounceback seasons for many guys, but to rely on two rookies and have no depth creates zero margin for error. It’s just bad planning and it’s scary to think what would of happened if Pollock exercised his player option.

Our OF depth is absolutely atrocious…no one to blame but Hahn when one of our three OFs goes down and we’re forced to use a 1B or AAAA types out there. IMO, this is such an obvious roster flaw that Hahn should be fired if/when an injury happens.

Do you have the list of these Cubans? Just curious who they are and what caliber of prospect they might be.

Those guys all signed for a lot less though. We also don’t have a large multi million signing to anchor this class, so it begs the question on whenever these guys were in demand and we just didn’t know it or are beneficiaries of the Sox having excess bonus pool and little to spend it on. I really like Paddy, but being part of a Jerry org makes his job incredibly challenging. Hopefully there is a plan here that we just don’t have visibility to, but I’m not aware of a massive Cuban prospect like Cespedes or Colas who funds have been set aside for. For now I’m definitely a little nervous they botched this signing class.

Were Nunez & Hernandez on anyone’s radar though?

I’d not totally against, just depends on price. I saw someone speculating Montgomery would get 3/$30M which seems insane to me. But if Saquon or Pollard can be had at non insane prices I’d be fine with signing either of them.

I don’t think going big at RB makes all that much sense given how far we need to go in terms of overall team improvement. I think someone like Rashaad Penny on the cheap may be the better value play in a committee with Herbert. As for receivers, the WR class is horrific. I’d prioritize Gesecki as a big slot receiver who alongside Claypool could create a ton of mismatches. I’d then take a pure WR in round two or three.

Serious question, but are you a Lions fan? Not meant to be a dig, but on the best day in recent Bears history, all you seem to care about is a divisional rival who didn’t even make the playoffs.

Yup, that would be the ideal outcome.

Colts getting the 4th pick is huge. Could create a nice bidding war between them and the Texans and provides you with a high probability of landing Anderson & Carter regardless of who trades up.

Because it will only get harder for them to trade and acquire a young QB?

The NFL QB scene is a fucking mess right now…it’s going to be glorious to see how big of a haul we can get for the #1.
